tylesta Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 SPURS FLYERS' UPDATE According to Sky sources, the player most likely to be leaving White Hart Lane in this month’s transfer window, if any, is out-of-favour wide man Aaron Lennon. And it is understood that the north London club would not stand in the way of the occasional England international, who has not been involved in this season’s FA Cup, if he wishes to leave the capital in January in the search of regular first-team football elsewhere. Meanwhile, it is also believed that another Spurs wide man, Andros Townsend, has told his employers that he intends to remain at the Labe this month in order to fight for his place in their starting lineup. And Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has also recently confirmed that he wants to keep hold of the player this season.
Finnaldo Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 A double swoop for Naughton and Lennon and things will be shaping up nicely, sorts out our weakest area on the pitch and adds another source of supply for the strikers, this and a decent CB and I feel we could really be looking at a much better team.
dmayne7 Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 You may not have much experience with them but there is another gender called "female". You may not have much experience with the English language, but the term 'guy' is non-gender specific and simply used to refer to an individual or group of people, although used favourably towards men. Mind you, like me, you've probably not had much interaction with 'females' or 'males' so you wouldn't know the difference

'Guy', however, is clearly not gender neutral and if you believe it is you have absolutely no knowledge of the English language.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Standard Lovejoy. Piss off Dicky Willo

If we sign them I will be well and truly eating my words about not spending much money!! Ha

As I said, primarily used to describe a man but also refers to people of either sex. Unlucky son
dmayne7 Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Lennon would be an excellent player for us but even with Riyad and Jeff away, I still think that the other 3 wide players can do a decent job. Hopefully we'll switch our attention to the defence now.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/guy Clearly you were bothered about getting involved in a completely pointless argument. As I said, primarily used to describe a man but also refers to people of either sex. Unlucky son Even though you've linked to a site clearly defining guy to mean "a man", I will vouch that it gets used these days to refer to women too. I think it's a result of the plural getting used for mixed groups - I guess people figured that if it can be used to refer to multiple women, it can be used for singular ones too.
MPH Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Leicester fans. Always able to find something to argue about.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Leicester fans. Always able to find something to argue about. No we're not.
stix Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 He's on 55k a week at spurs apparently, don't think we would be willing to pay that.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Even though you've linked to a site clearly defining guy to mean "a man", I will vouch that it gets used these days to refer to women too. And also to the gender neutral version... NOUN 1informal A man:he’s a nice guy 1.1(guys) People of either sex:you guys want some coffee?
psychonaut Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Would rather we went in for Nathan Redmond. Agreed! Would take some serious £££ to prize him away from Norwich I'd imagine. Southampton had a bid rejected in the summer.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 And also to the gender neutral version... NOUN 1informal A man:he’s a nice guy 1.1(guys) People of either sex:you guys want some coffee? Guys. The definition for the singular form clearly states "a man". It's literally right there in your post. I guess people figured that if it can be used to refer to multiple women, it can be used for singular ones too.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Guys. The definition for the singular form clearly states "a man". It's literally right there in your post. And it clearly states as definition 1.1... 1.1(guys) People of either sex:you guys want some coffee? Edit: I am an idiot. I'll leave this for people to see how much of an idiot I am though.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Errm and back to Lennon . . . Realistic option? I would say yes if the wages are right
Babylon Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 And it clearly states as definition 1.1... 1.1(guys) People of either sex:you guys want some coffee? Is that not the definition of the plural and not 'guy'?
Alexikokopops Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Is that not the definition of the plural and not 'guy'? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha I've had a mare! SORRY CARL THE LLAMA. I'm already on my third cup of tea this morning, I'm a STATE.
FunkyFox93 Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Fvck off arguing over this you bunch of lemons.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I'd be disappointed with Lennon. Get Usain Bolt - He has more pace & pace is all Lennon offers. His end product is dreadful.
