DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 That's the question with regards to Premiership survival. If we get a few more high quality players in, will we have time to settle, and pull clear of the bottom three? Personally, I feel it will be too late, but much will depend on how the other clubs involved in the relegation fight, fare in the coming weeks. The big question I keep asking myself, is why didn't we bring in the quality in the summer, which has certainly cost us many points? That was a massive mistake, but what do you really think of our survival chances?

Mark_w Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 That depends how well we do from now on really doesn't it. It certainly isn't too late to save ourselves, we'll just have to see if we're capable of it.
Finnaldo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 3 points off survival, 6 points off 12th place, 17 games left and 7 out of 9 points. It's a totally open scenario at this situation.

You never know, fitting new players into the team may disrupt the team and send us backwards again.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 How can it be too late when we're 2 points off survival?
Renart Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I can understand DT's concerns! In the Stoke pre-match thread I made a point about our next run of games which I will repeat here: We need to pick up points where we can and now (hopefully this will continue against Stoke). After this we have a tough run coming up: Man U (A) Palace (H) Arsenal (A) Everton (A) Chelsea (H) Man City (H) I cannot see us winning any of those, except Palace! Our tails are up and wagging but we could find ourselves adrift once again after that run of fixtures (but this time by losing games that we are expected to lose). However, if we can stay within reach after these games (by beating Stoke and beating Palace and maybe getting a point-or-two elsewhere) then I think we have a really good chance as our run in from Hull (H) onward, is really not bad at all!
Raj Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Nice negative post DT after a great win. Well done lad
Foxhateram Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Course not, were only half way through the season! Still plenty of points to collect and only two points from safety. No one near the bottom is consistently performing and I don't think they will all season. I really can see 5/6 teams battling it out for survival right to the last day. In short I don't think it will be too late until it's mathematically impossible
FrankieADZ Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 we were on the same points tally as Sunderland last season....so for me no.

The Doctor Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 You realise we could be 16th this time next week right?
GaelicFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Three wins and you would be virtually mid table , cop yourself on , was pointed out here earlier in week NONE of the bookies were taking any chances with Us staying up all gave leicester a good 60-40 chance to do it , and really in the run they were in lesser teams would have been turned over and whipped they kept going and really the form of the team has been solid since Liverpool at home (west ham wasn't great in middle of game) ... We are really moving forward now

I really can see your point, but.......I don't think these will be the games that necessarily determine whether we stay. Our run in for the end of the season (last 6 games or so) are very winnable and will be the ones that seal our fate imo. Plus I think we've proven we are capable of a surprise result or two It's a toss of a coin for me at the moment whether we'll stay up or not. It's certainly not too late
Stan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Home form vital And away form. It's certainly costing QPR.
65RosesFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Eh?!?!?!?!? Three games ago we were six points (if i remember right) from safety, we are now five points from 12th.
Fox in the North Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 We've just got to keep plugging away and make sure we get a point at least out of every game. We're on a roll the moment. Hopefully we can keep it up!
Ashley Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Premier League is AWFUL this year. I don't care what anyone says. For us to lose how many we did and only be five points off 17th.. says a lot. We can do it
Xen Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 There are eight teams who - if they have a bad run of form - will see themselves fighting against relegation. We've already had a bad run of form, and we're still pretty close. If we manage to keep up our recent performances though, as well as strengthen this month, then we'll soon be in a much better looking position as other teams start to get pulled back. It's fine margins, but I think we'll do it. If we're still in touch with everyone else (i.e. 3 points adrift max) by the end of Feb, then the fixtures we'll have left are very kind to us, and should give us plenty of chance to stay up. If Villa don't improve their attack, they'll be dragged back into it and I can see this being the year they finally go down. Burnley and Hull are almost undoubtedly going to be struggling, and Palace could go either way now they have Pardew. Pulis at WBA could struggle, and Sunderland are still in the mix as well. The only team in the bottom 9 that I think definitely wont be battling come April/May are Everton.

It's certainly not too late I agree with you and I honestly think that we can do it! I have always said that our run in is favourable. The only thing that concerns me is if we lose a few of these games against the bigger teams it might, once again, knock the confidence of the fans and the players. We appear to be quite a fragile team and that is a little worrying. As fans we need to stay with the boys as this one could go down to the final day and having some confidence, even if we start to drift off the bottom of the table during this tricky period, could make all the difference. I also take the point made above that we often do pull out results against the bigger teams and so there is no need to hit the panic button; we are right in this!
