glenelgfox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Why did we not play like that at home to Palace, West Brom etc, it is beyond frustrating. Agree and that is why we are where we are! Better effort last night but again wasted some really decent chances almost every other team in the league would take.
Pasty1 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Upson will be off the pace - as he hasn't been playing and should have cleared the Goalkeeper's parry...... Koncheskey looked nervous at times on the ball. Morgan looked gutted following the first goal and I think More would have got that one clear. Overall a gutsy display... Can we stay up? ?? 1 game at a time.....
Pasty1 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 'Great effort by the boys away at the Emirates. Mahrez, Schlupp, Cambiasso, and Kramaric were dynamic and threatening all game long.' AGREE!
Callabinho Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 I thought Upson always looked comfortable in possession, never seemed bothered with the ball at his feet.
Sunbury Fox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Why does everyone keep saying the Palace performance was poor? I don't think it was at all. Our finishing was poor but our general play was much better than theirs, as shown by 67% possession and having 6 or 7 good chances to their 1 or 2. Stoke, when we were missing lots of players, was poor second half and so was ManUre first half but other than that from Spurs on Boxing Day onwards we've been good. The lack of clinical finishing is killing us, though. That, and never scoring off a set piece, which is a vital source of goals for bottom half teams. Palace, for example, have worse possession stats than us but have 9 more points cos they have scored 13 goals from set pieces, including 3 against us to secure 6 points.
st albans fox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Can we just tidy up the keeper thing. He couldn't catch it so he parried it. It was moving a lot so he struggled to control the parry. He didn't parry it straight into the centre of the box which would have been poor but, in retrospect, safe. We had defenders everywhere but it dropped to their only forward in the box who hit it first time. Class finish (would any of our strikers had hit it first time apart from krama) and basically unlucky that it dropped straight to theo. I don't hear anyone criticising their keeper for not holding krama's shot in the second half which led to our goal? sh*t happens and yet again! if happens to us. We had chances at the other end and we missed them. Jones could have given two handballs tonight and he didn't so things are heading in the right direction!
woddyuk Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Theo Wallcot " can't believe they are bottom, best team to come to the Emirates this year" All season for the most part despite good attractive football and loads of effort and endeavour, city can't hit a cows arse with a banjo when it comes to scoring. Couple that with an unexplicable talent for conceding avoidable goals and you have your answer Theo.
Dickov22 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Very harsh to blame Schwarzer for the goal. I was behind it and the ball was swerving all over the place. He's never catching that for god sake. Just our luck that it fell to Walcott
Bettsj2 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Agree with Dickov22 about Schwarzer. Didnt really parry it into the danger area either it was just that Walcott (from an angle) produced a wonderful finish. Huth is an absolute monster and is exactly what has been required. I disagree with Ramadaone on Upson. Thought he looked pretty comfortable all game alongside Huth. Wes was an absolute bombscare. The defending from the corner was dreadful and just after that, he nearly cost us by losing possession at the edge of the are fvcking around. Kram and Mahrez were both superb and really could have had a couple each especially Mahrez. He'll really be disappointed he didnt equalise when he cut through the middle and hit that left foot curler wide. On one hand I was very happy with the performance but on the other, its another game gone and we're a further point adrift. We're not going to stay up winning compliments.
Monsell1976 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I taped second half and watched when I got in from work. Already knew the score but we played really well. Slight tweaks (rest Wes) and that is our best team at the moment. I hope Upson isn't out too long, he and Huth looked calming and Was adds steel. Overall I'm not sure if I like this teasing we are getting. So close every week and we still lose. I think there are 7 really good chances at wins left. This will give us 35 points. Will that be enough? Will it be enough, can we even win 7 games?
Ollie93 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I think Pearson answered his own critics last night, his tactics were absolutely spot on. Nothing more he could of done, it was down to the inability to finish which has seemed to cost us on more than one occasion this season. Gutsy performance, Kramaric looks like he is the player we all expected (lets hope he learns from his attempted chip). But for me its Wes Morgan, he just seems to make too many mistakes, he looks slow and tired and can't handle the pace of premier league football, personally I think he just needs some time off.
chicagofox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Nothing more Pearson could have done. Well he could have not started a player in Morgan who has proven himself to be completely inept at this level and has been responsible for countless goals conceded.
RokoNZ Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 If only that chip from Krama had been as good as the one he did that led to the corner before the goal. Those little things, and that horrible first goal of theirs. Just sat through the replay and it was just as painful as watching it live
Dickov22 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Big Wes will lose his place now. He got subbed off after a disastrous performance. Can't remember him ever being subbed off. I thought Upson did ok, did well for his first game back and you have to wonder whether we'd have more points had we had him in the side earlier. Huth will make a difference
MrSpaM Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Pockets of arguing in the away end again. This really needs to stop, that's three games in a row now we've had Leicester fans fighting Leicester fans during or after the game. If any of you on here are involved, I'd just like to let you know you are complete **** heads, and we'd rather you stayed at home.

Huth will make a difference I think Upson's injury has been our biggest problem this season. He was identified by NP & his team as having something we were missing... top level experience, can usually defend and attack set-pieces well. He was a beast (and player of the season) in the best defence in the league when we signed him... and could have helped reduce the type of goals we've conceded all season

He started the season with Moore and Morgan, that was his preferred partnership. The other two were peripheral. In my opinion.
Ricey Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I sat in the North Bank last night and the Arsenal fan next to me, who during the whole match never once referenced a Leicester player or reacted to anything we did, stating "He's a great finisher" when David Nugent came on. It was harder to not react to that than it was when we scored!
cc_star Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Nothing more Pearson could have done. Well he could have not started a player in Morgan who has proven himself to be completely inept at this level and has been responsible for countless goals conceded. Not saying he's not a weak link in some way.... but that's a bit harsh considering he has the highest number of blocks in the league & is probably responsible for countless goals saved and earlier on a fair number of those goals conceded weren't helped by Schmeichel being planted on his line & not collecting or punching crosses & set-pieces I dont imagine Pearson thought Upson, even Wasilewski would be central figures in the team this season. He started the season with Moore and Morgan, that was his preferred partnership. The other two were peripheral. In my opinion. Upson was injured, Moore was a goal or more a game liability
filbertway Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Schwarzer has palmed two shots into a dangerous area which have resulted in goals, disappointing from him to be fair. Wes also got caught in possession literally 30 seconds after we restarted from conceding as well. The guy clearly has weaknesses at this level. If we're going to stick to 3 cb's though I imagine he will definitely stay in the team.

I doubt Upson would have been signed as a regular considering his advancing years and constant injury issues
Mark Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 It turned out that Moore was a liability, but he started the season above Wasilewski, so Pearson must have thought he was the better fit alongside Wes. I doubt Upson would have been signed as a regular considering his advancing years and constant injury issues Moore and upson are the left sided center backsMorgan and wasyl are the right sided center backs. I think Pearson planned to use one of each, Moore started the season due to Upsons lack of fitness, Morgan started ahead of Wasyl. In an ideal world Pearson wouldn't have spent most of the season having Wasyl and Morgan together as it means shifting Morgan over to an even more uncomfortable position, but that lack of a top signing never came, until now. We can say the same about the strikeforce, it's obvious why he was chasing another forward all summer.
les-tah Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 hope this means kramaric will start scoring for fun!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 We did well to keep it to a one goal defeat. Why does Pearson keep picking Morgan, who has been a liability for most of the season?
cc_star Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Schwarzer should have palmed that ball over flapping at it and popping it back into the danger zone can't be excused for such an experienced gk See ManUtd's 2nd goal too, palmed straight into middle of 6yard box for a tap-in
