Clever Fox Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 He hasn't performed since coming back from the african cup. So has his head been turned ? On recent showings I don't think the price will be too high. He has a little skill but lacks the allround game experience required at the top level.
Dan Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Sorry, I disagree immensely with those comments about the Spanish sides. Watch them play and tell me they're worse than sides like Sunderland and Newcastle. They don't have the financial clout, but they have better players and coaches.
GingerrrFox Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 I think Mahrez would struggle at Villareal. They are a counter attacking side and that isn't Mahrez's strongpoint. He needs to play in a team that has the majority of possession, not a team that focuses on counter attacking with pace.

Personally reckon he could play in either a dominant side or a counter attacking side, and I reckon he's better than Joel Campbell too.
Guest Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 I agree a fantastic player when he has the ball but defensively he is lightweight. He's a luxury we can't afford to carry when they all need to role their sleeves up and fight. If we can't get the ball like the majority of the first half yesterday there's no point him being on the pitch. If he goes to a more established Premier League side I've no doubt he will be a great success. were you talking about Mahrez or Cambiasso? Whichever I agree with you.
Guest Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 For a good part of our poor season he was our best player. He needs a better defensive backup than RDL or DS. Like Cambi he needs help defensively to allow him to concentrate on the things he does well. Also he's young. I hope we keep him and coach him in defensive responsibility whilst getting him a decent defensive back up.
Dan Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 Mid table Spanish teams are rubbish, why do you think Ronald's gets 50 goals a season,he didn't do that in the premier league, also people are claiming he ll move onto bigger and better ,which that isn't. Seriously simplistic way of looking at things. Not considering how much more of a goalscoring role he has in Real Madrid's side and not taking into account the likes of Cazorla, Mata, Silva, Michu, Sanchez & Toure who've all made a far bigger impact in England than they did in Spain.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 And didn't Ronaldo score over 40 goals in about as many games for United in his final season, when he wasn't as good a player as he is now and was still part of a team rather than Ronaldo Madrid? Doesn't add up to me.
dorsetboy Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 mahrez will never be a defensive player because he dosent like to tackle and is to weak countless times this season ive seen him pull out of tackles or just not even go in for the tackle . yes hes a good player but fr me hes to weak and before anyone says messi is only small yes he may be but hes very hard to shrug off the ball and has quicker feet than mahrez
fuchsntf Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 Mahrez is reasonable and above avg for city,.......but ask yourselves how good is he really. He does get lost in some games, his passing in the middle of the park is very mediocre. It maybe its just that he his in a poor team, in a quality team he could be better. Too early yet imo the pudding has yet to be proven.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 Can't have the idea that his passing isn't up to scratch. So many times this season he has cut defenses apart with one ball, he's got great vision. And FIF, for someone who is fed up of having to defend his position on Cambiasso you don't half bring him up a lot in threads that have nothing to do with him.
elvis f kennedy Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 Sell him and throw knockaert in for free.both useless show ponies.

I'm not for one second saying people should be sitting there watching it all of the time, or ever, but the way it gets brushed off is laughable. We are not better than Celta Vigo or Espanyol. Silly, silly comments based on literally nothing.

Maybe we are not better, but celta Vigo is hardly a massive step up.very average player average teams being linked with.mahrez is still massively over rated(probably the most over rated thing since the Beatles, and knockaert till everyone finally realised he was shit) and mid table Spanish is as far as he will go.

Too early yet imo the pudding has yet to be proven. There is a reason he plays for us and not for Barcalona. He is not the finished article at all, but there is loads of potential.

Funny considering Celta Vigo don't want him, but in-fact Villarreal do. You know, Europa League Villarreal, 7th placed Villarreal.

The germany fanbois are the worst for that. Swings and roundabouts innit. Personally I watch a bit of Spanish football and would say the bottom half of la liga is championship play off standards generally.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Sell him and throw knockaert in for free.both useless show ponies. This is probably a chap who want's us to replace them with Lloyd Dyer and Gallagher?
Kitchandro Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Can't have the idea that his passing isn't up to scratch. So many times this season he has cut defenses apart with one ball, he's got great vision. He has but his short passing is often careless. He gives it away far too often. Anyone buying him will be buying potential, I'd like to think we could sell him for big money, because potential he certainly has. But this season, despite glimpses of brilliance, he's not delivered an end product often enough.
jammie82uk Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Looks like the Mercury have got there finger on the pulse as always
