JIMMYWILLIS Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Think I am the only one who isn't that bothered if we sell him You are not alone. He looks great in a very poor side. He will never play for a top six side
LcFc_Smiv Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Maybe if there were any other threats in the team, he might get space. It doesn't seem to work out for him when we are attacking a lot of the time, but to be honest I think it's down to the lack of attacking flair of the rest of the players in the team. He seems 2 steps ahead of everyone else most of the time. As someone said, in a team where defending isn't 80% of the game, he will do very well. I think this is why schlupp looks good, as he has the pace and strength to defend and it often clouds the fact he wastes almost everything at the other end. For me he finds himself in plenty of space, it's the urge to run into trouble to try and roll it past someone that causes him to waste possession. I do agree that the formation hasn't helped him a great deal, and sometimes he may need to hold play up for the rest of the players to get into attacking positions. However I don't believe he's thinking ahead of other players, even if he is, Cambiasso is usually miles ahead of the rest of our team in terms of the ball he wants to play, but it's being able to adapt to playing with players who don't quite read the game as quickly as him that makes him a stand out player.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 You are not alone. He looks great in a very poor side. He will never play for a top six side I don't think anyone truly believes he's good enough to be playing at that level. A bit further down the line once he's matured as a player and grown some physical presence he has the ability to be a consistent starter for a Prem team.
Charl91 Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 You are not alone. He looks great in a very poor side. He will never play for a top six side As opposed to all of our other players, who are nailed on top 6 starters.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 He's still our best player. Glides past people, turns defenders inside out, can whip a mean cross in and sees and plays passes that most others can't. When he plays, most of time we do something good, Mahrez has been involved somewhere along the way. Riyad Mahrez will play at a higher level than Leicester City consistently over the next 10 years, I can guarantee that. Any form in a struggling side that has failed to maintain anything approaching a decent percentage of possession does not change that fact.
foxinsocks Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Truth is he looks good in a side devoid of creativity. Yesterday vardy showed that he is unusual... he is unorthodox... and np doesn't normally value such things... yet for some reason he likes vardy

A few poor games in a row doesn't change the fact (my opinion) that he is our most naturally talented player by some distance. Should carve out a nice career playing for sides in and around European qualification, especially if he can add a few more goals to his game.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 As opposed to all of our other players, who are nailed on top 6 starters. I was referring to people thinking arsenal or spirs are ready to pounce
foxfanazer Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Can see him settling at a club like Everton and never really pushing on from there. He's got serious potential but he also has his limitations. If he can develop a end product then he'll be a seriously good player
Ollie93 Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Yes he has serious potential, but do you not think we have made look better this season because everyone else has been below par? He doesn't seem to play well when teams rough him up a bit from what ive seen.
Babylon Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 He sums us up this season. Sometimes he doesn't turn up for months, then he's brilliant but with obvious flaws and often flatters to deceive.
Master Fox Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Overrated. I don't really see what he's done this season to warrant a place in a better Premier League side. Remember we're still rock bottom of the league. The best he can hope for is a place on the bench at Bournemouth.

We're you saying the same about Harry Kane? Put Mahrez in decent team and he is more than good enough, why do you think teams like Spurs are rumoured to be after him? However I am sick of him diving but seems they all do it in the premiership

Remember we're still rock bottom of the league. The best he can hope for is a place on the bench at Bournemouth. Errrmmm... The reason you think 'hes overrated' is because we are struggling. I bet last season he was the best thing since sliced bread! It's a very one dimensional way of looking at things and slightly fickle! My person opinion is that he looks like he's struggling because the team is struggling and maybe, when he plays, we are relying on him too much. In a better side, I think he'll flourish. He's certainly not Champions League quality, but some where like Swansea or Everton, he'll be a good player for.
RonnieTodger Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Let's try and rip a team off for once. Try and get £10m.
kingfox Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Mahrez is struggling because the teams struggling In situations like ours you need our best players to come to the fore, Mahrez since returning has looked lazy and has had very little impact. His comment about 46 games in a season is beyond idiotic, because if he was playing in Europe with Spurs he sure wouldn't be saying that. He is just another version of Knockaert, on his day brilliant but most of the time he doesn't show his quality. His attitude in the past month has looked poor, the kind of attitude you see in a player that doesn't want to be involved in a relegation battle, a player who doesn't look up for the fight, unlike Nugent & Vardy who give 100% every game.
Dan Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 He's been very quiet since ripping Arsenal a new one. Not sure what's happened with him.
justfoxes Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 I'm rather hoping that if we do go down most of our players as Mahrez Kramaric and others will stay and fight, but that's a romantic thought as most players are football mercenaries and only in it for the money unfortunateley pride and passion playing for the team has disappeared for most ! But I'm hoping we keep a nucleus of our squad which are good enough to win the championship and make a return back to the prem and whoever is the manager can rebuild a squad that can do better than this season, but we haven't been well and truly beaten this season we've played some awesome football at times and been on the receiving end of some of the worst refereeing decisions I have ever seen and to think luck if you think of the reason why we've had so much bad luck makes you think Pearson has run over a group of nuns ! But we still have plenty of points to play for and I still believe we can stay up !! ( optimistic fool!!)

JIMMYWILLIS Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 Any truth in the rumour a bid came in at half time from Barcelona?? Disgraceful today. Slowed down counter attacks, looked uninterested and constantly pointing for others to mark his man as he ambled around. Bench please
Brooksy Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 He'll be lucky to get a new contract after the last few weeks
BoyJones Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 We now make more chances without Mayrez. He slows the game down and his passing is now often badly directed or the wrong pace. He has proved he can pick out a key pass, but seems to need to be in the mood. Get rid but at a decent profit. Not the sort of player you need in a relegation fight. Somebody like Vardy who has less skill is more valuable because he will fight to the last drop of blood. Ok he missed chances today but ran himself ragged and was a constant threat.

Vardy set us up for victory. Mahrez looked a spare part. Clearly Mahrez is the most gifted player we have, maybe after Cambiasso but he's not got the defensive talent that our midfield needs to help us survive. Dan Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Doing his chances no favours at all with these recent displays. Easy to say it's down to his head being turned but there's something missing lately and you've got to wonder why.
