Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 The period at the start of the season where he didn't track back and left us open against the top sides? Or the period off the back of an African Nations Cup run? I felt Mahrez was one player who Pearson used very well last season. Criticism can be levelled at his non selection of Albrighton. Although he wasn't particularly good at the defensive side early doors and he was downright awful at Newcastle when he had his first start. This might be hindsight but as a manager at the top level you've got to take criticism - I still think playing King at the tip of that diamond against WBA (from memory... hopefully he wasn't at the bloody African Cup of Nations at that point ) instead of Mahrez was criminal.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Er, no I'd much prefer sterling. Mahrez is a huge talent but he has a way to go. I fully expect sterling to show why he cost 50m this year. Sterling refuses to train with a club as big as Liverpool to try and force a move out (whether it's his ego or greed, either is unsavoury), Mahrez is happy to sign a massive contract extension for a club as small as us. He has a great attitude and bags of ability. I'd genuinely rather have Mahrez
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He did another one of those turns yesterday where he turns his back on his marker, always looks like the opponent could just turn round and nick it off him but it never happens. Not sure how he manages it.
SpacedX Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I've never seen a player turn like him. Do you mean Riyad on the pitch, or Sterling against his old club?
ScouseFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I've never seen a player turn like him. that's true, like fez says i have no idea how it's done and it looks so easy to combat as a defender yet nobody seems capable to do so. it's magic i reckon.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Sterling is vastly overrated and overpriced
sdb Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 What a joy to watch yesterday! He is turning into the real deal.
Brooksy Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Does anyone else think he could be an alien? No human is that good at football surely
HEGGSY Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Man when he turned Cattermole. Magical. Also, how he even managed to get that shot off that hit the post, I'll never know. At one point I thought he'd taken too long to do anything with it. So good.
Benguin Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I take you weren't at Newcastle? Or possibly Chelsea where he struggled defensively? Had to stream Chelsea, but went to Newcastle. Saying someone is poor based on mere moments in 1 or 2 games would suggest we have an awful squad in its entirety! I could name instances where every man in our squad has been poor including the likes of Cambiasso, Mahrez etc. I loved Nigel, I'm gutted he's gone but I completely agree that Albrighton should have played a more important role throughout the season.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 They spotted him while scouting someone else in France and kept tabs for a couple of years while he developed. He cost us £300-350k. Top quality piece of business from Pearson and Walsh.

Top quality piece of business from Pearson and Walsh. Got to be one of the best buys in our history in terms of how relatively cheap he was, how young he is, how he has developed and how much more potential he has for improvement.
ozleicester Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 So to establish, you can't have any value from proving yourself over previous seasons? Better tell QPR that Austin is only worth a freddo Plain or Peppermint?
bluesbrothers Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Man when he turned Cattermole. Magical. Also, how he even managed to get that shot off that hit the post, I'll never know. At one point I thought he'd taken too long to do anything with it. So good. You get the feeling he'd been reading FoxesTalk from back last summer and decided he'd remind us what a shower of shite a good chunk of us wanted to sign at one point.
les-tah Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 does anybody else love watching these tribute skill videos of mahrez? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtDbEE9QtJs

les-tah Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Cattermoles body language after Riyad stripped him haha it was literally a 'head in hands' moment from poor cattermole
ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Mahrez I would say is the most talented player I have seen in a Leicester shirt and my memory goes back to 1992. Such a pleasure to see him playing for us. Would be worth £10m-£15m but he is worth twice that to us. Mahrez signing a new deal was the best news of the summer to me.
ScouseFox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 ohhhhhh his name is riyad mahrez he didnt cost much money at all tbhhhh he is the best ever player everrrrrrr yes he is he is we love you riyaddddddd tune - the ulloa chant
ARM1968 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 If his form continues like this I wouldn't want much less than Liverpool got for Stirling. But I'd rather push on and keep him.
ScouseFox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 just seen his goal. finish. great build up too. we are great he is great we will win the league if he stays fit.
shailen Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 If he can keep up the consistency he will be one hell of a player
