Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Is anyone really surprised that our players are struggling to flourish when the atmosphere is so poisonous atmosphere at home? From the 5th minute every misplaced pass, poor touch or backwards pass was groaned upon. No wonder the players aren't willing to take risks and express themselves when the crowd get on their backs for the entirety of the game. Of course I'm not saying that's the reason for our impending relegation, because we just haven't been good enough in both penalty boxes but as fans we need to stick with the team for these last 10 games and see where that takes us. Whatever hour view on the manager just get behind the players and give them a chance. If we end up going down most of you will probably get your wish and Pearson gone so just get behind the team.

I'm sorry but these players are paid to play football. If they hear the crowd moaning or booing that shouldn't effect them. They are paid 10's of 1,000's a week and for them to not play to their best because a fan heckles them is unacceptable
C-man Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Didn't notice any poison (until full time) from SK1. Lesson being if you sing and support loud enough yourself, you won't either.
harpendenfox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I didn't detect any poison yesterday. Just a crushing sense of disappointment.
Monsell1976 Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I'm surprised it's took this long to boo, the season has been a joke, and pearsons attitude, and antic's, and the players looking lost and dis jointed, I'm think it's only going to get worse. Pearson has lost the plot, and devoid of any idea of how to win a game, so the natives are getting restless, and it's only going to get worse.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Don't think I had ever felt a crowd be so underwhelmed when it was announced Lawrence was to replace DeLaet, fair play to him he came on and did ok, but that wasn't the attacking intent anyone was looking for.

The fans on the whole have back pearson and his team, until yesterday, but the fans loyalty hasn't been repayed by the players and manager. If being booed affects their performance, when they have been beaten home and away all season, and backed vocally every week, why didn't improve their performances or results?
Gubbins Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Misplaced passes and poor touches have always been groaned at regardless of where we are in the league or which league we're in. It's the natural reaction of the crowd to a promising move breaking down. If it creates a bad atmosphere it's the players who create it with continued incompetence!
ceebeefox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Are you old enough to remember the "Pleat out" era late 80's early nineties at Filbert St? Now that was poisonous, fans boing and screaming for the managers head when he sneaked round to the dugout, there was no fancy tent over the tunnel in those days.Misplaced pass groans happen at every ground in the country. You are right however and the players are not expressing themselves. I noticed many times when a 30yard diagonal ball was on but the player chose a 10 yard safer option. Then I realised that the player who did that last season was Drinkwater who should still be in the side in my opinion.
Matt Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I think the atmosphere has been alright this year, not in terms of loudness, because that's always been poor and unfortunately I think it always will be but what I mean is I don't think the fans have got on their backs much as all, not like we've seen in previous years, it's only recently and rightly so that people are voicing their frustrations. I think on a whole this season fans have stayed behind and backed Pearson and the players - They certainly havn't been calling for his head and booing players off the pitch (Not to my knowledge) until now where it is coming to a head. It amazes me so much emphasis is put on the fans though, don't get me wrong we all want a loud, happy, cheering atmosphere, and disappointed, moaning atmosphere is no good for anyone but at the end of the day we can't effect the game, those players on this pitch a effect the game, we can't win it from the stands, we can't speed the game up, we can't keep it out of our net or put it in their net, those players can only do that. Now i've said this many times before - it starts with the players, I go there, pay my money for entertainment, now in sport it's never gaurenteed to get entertainment, be happy or win, but it's up to those players to get me out my seat, give me something to shout about, this season all they've gave me to shout about on a whole is frustrations.
Rich Fox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Was poisonous where I sit as I reacted to Mahrez rolling over 15 times when he was no even touched. Had a lo of people have a go but I just hope they all watched it back and will opologise next home game but I'm not holding my breath. Hate to see cheating like that
theessexfox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Given our scenario I think our fans at the ground can be commended for their lack of poison and vitriol.
shailen Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 It's a negative situation because of the negative performance. To be fair, a lot our previous performances we have been good and just couldn't get a point. Yesterday we were shocking, easily the worst we have played this season, and you could argue that they should have won. I've been positive and always will be, we have a slim chance that's getting slimmer every game, but yesterday performance was worth booing and being negative about. We were lucky to get a point.
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 I said weeks ago and it's even more apparent now.... I believe City fans, and many on here have been INCREDIBLY patient this season. Our stats for the season are truly embarassing. Goals scored, goals conceded, chances made, shots on target etc..are amongst the worst in all four divisions. If Nigel Pearson had been appointed manager at the start of THIS season, he'd have been sacked months ago. He's living off the back of the promotion season, with the 'loyal' fans holding onto the hope that he could replicate some sort of form and ability that was clearly showed last year. But this season is a different one. The opposition is different. The class is different. It has demanded a different sort of managerial approach..an ability to adapt and quickly. Our fans yesterday were expectant. Not everyone thought we'd win, but at least wanted a performance which was attacking, fluent and where chances were created. Instead, we got flat, boring and frankly clueless. Unacceptable.... The fans this season haven't been the issue. The manager and the players have.

I'm surprised at this as I think the fans have been incredibly loyal this year without criticising the team vocally and almost accepting we are in a 'big boys league'....... My biggest worry is that after such an absolute load of rubbish yesterday and the prospect of worse to come as relegation is confirmed that the atmosphere WILL turn bad. Probably more important is the effect of this seasons results on the team. If we go down with such a whimper as we are then next season could be a disaster too!
st albans fox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 It's not poisonous. Far from it. I fear you'll see it get much worse next month. If it really were 'poisonous' then I think you would have seen the board act earlier.
theessexfox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 He's living off the back of the promotion season, with the 'loyal' fans holding onto the hope that he could replicate some sort of form and ability that was clearly showed last year. For me it's partly this, but mainly fans putting this car crash of a season to one side and thinking that given his Championship record and relationship with the players, he would probably be the best option to try and get us back up. That said, after yesterday I am demoralised and running out of patience with him, but I have to think long term.
theessexfox Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 The only poisonous atmosphere I've been in this year was West Ham away.
weller54 Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Don't think I had ever felt a crowd be so underwhelmed when it was announced Lawrence was to replace DeLaet, fair play to him he came on and did ok, but that wasn't the attacking intent anyone was looking for. His substitution decisions have been on the mentally disturbed scale all season, surely this one yesterday was no great Suprise!!
Raj Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 So its the fans fault...right cheers. For the record u think we've been more than supportive of this shower of shit
the-blue-wildabeast Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Sadly if city fans had started showing there displeasure in Nov/Dec then we may well be here today with a different manager in relative safety. Unfortunately most of our fans have given Nigel far too much time purely based on what he achieved at lower levels. It was pretty clear during yet another Pearson instigated 13 game winless streak he was going to take us down, but city fans are too nice and as a collective seem to have low expectations.
Fox92 Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 It's frustration, that's all. They come out and say "oh we need the fans behind us". Sorry but we've always been behind them. Our support both home and away in terms of numbers has been good yet again this season. It's a bit of give and take because we need to see something back too, something that justifies paying and turning up for these games.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 What are you talking about??? Poisionous atmosphere nonsense. It would have been great if we could have kept the atmosphere from the first few games this season but the players and managers performance have sucked the life out of us. What came first? Poor performances and results from the players and baffling selections and tactics from the manager. 2 wins at home in the league all season says it all.
adam Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Did you see Sunderland yesterday? Now that's a poisonous atmosphere. Our players and manager have had an easy ride. Most clubs supporters would have turned months ago.
LexicalChoice Posted 15 March 2015 Posted 15 March 2015 Didn't notice any poison (until full time) from SK1. Lesson being if you sing and support loud enough yourself, you won't either. This. Where the hell was this guy sitting?
