Back in the hunt

If it was too early to say we were down then it's too early now to say survival is anything other than very unlikely. Sunderland win tomorrow and we're worse off than at the start of the weekend.

Even if Sunderland win, hopefully they get beat. We would still be better off as we are 6 points behind villa and hull. The main thing is points on the board now. 4 wins and a draw and we should be safe.

As long as Villa and Hull lose enough games too.

Yeah true. Chances are one of Sunderland, Hull or villa won't get 35 points though is what I meant. Still a bit delerious after that :)

God , there's some pessimists on here.

Moaning that QPR won.

We're four points adrift with a run in that you could barely wish for.

The other relegation candidates would have been hoping that Leicester and QPR were already down and one more place to fill and now it's game on.  :scarf:

Such a shame we didn't beat Hull a couple of weeks ago as they're the team I'm convinced we can catch, given their run in. Still think we can do this though, provided we continue with a positive approach. Fortune definitely favours the brave.

Kram and Albrighton to start, so we can play at high tempo, which is when we are at our best.

West Brom will be a tough proposition after their result today as they will be out to put things right. But if QPR can win there, why not us?

Spot on mate.

That performance against Hull could actually end up the most costly of Leicester's recent history.

What is it now? 150 million to stay in the Prem? Or will be next season?

If we had just won that game, we'd have such a chance of staying up.

God knows why Pearson did his 5 defenders malarkey. What a cock up that could prove to be.

Yep.  As good as todays result is, if Sunderland win tomorrow then our win has pretty much counted for nowt in terms of closing the gap to safety.

We still need a hell of a lot of results to go in our favour.  We could probably do with Villa winning as well on Monday against QPR.  Lesser of the two evils and all that!

I disagree, obviously a draw is the perfect result, however I think a QPR win would be better than a Villa win as it would put both on 28 points, bring Villa right back in it, and QPR out the relegation zone, which i don't think would be a bad thing as we play them last game of the season.

If they are out of the relegation zone on the last day and we are are within 3 points of them then a win for us puts us above them, and we may not have to rely on other results. If we're both in the relegation zone last game of the season we are definitely relying on other results to survive.

I'm delighted with the win but didn't see anything to make me believe that we have turned a corner.

Some of the defending was poor, certainly not up to PL standards, and most weeks that would have cost us the match. Add that to not taking our chances in front of goal, including the penalty, and we're back to the situation that has resulted in our league position.

Three points is a move in the right direction, but a loss to West Brom, Sunderland or QPR will pretty much sentence us to relegation so we have to learn from the mistakes and reduce them for the remaining matches if we wish to succeed. Hopefully the win will restore a little confidence and we can keep the ball a bit better and become more clinical.

Kramaric looked a handful when he came on, I hope that NP finds a way to include him in the starting XI, a few goals from him could make a big difference to our run in.

Once we are on a par with the teams in 17th and 18th place I will believe that we are back in the hunt, until then its work in progress.

I think the biggest thing is we've won a home game against opposition that we should have a chance of beating. We have failed miserably in games like this against Burnley, WBA, Hull, Palace and Sunderland. That has been our downfall this season and until we rectified this we stood no chance of survival. We've now got a win against a mid table team so we should have the belief we can grind out more wins against similar guff.

It's still 4 points, not the greatest of gaps with only so few games, I'm hoping wba confidence is well a truly knocked, could swing the other way though

My worry about the WBA game is after losing to QPR yesterday they're gonna end up taking it out on us, like lestajigs has said though hopefully it's knocked their confidence, hopefully we have got some confidence back (without being over confident) and we can get a win, because a draw isn't enough I don't think.

I admit I claimed we were down weeks/months ago, we simply havn't looked like winning, but when the fixtures first came out I looked at these last 8 games and said they'd be important and most are winnable.

I still think we're down, 1 swallow does make a summer, if we win next week I may change my mind but it's gotta be a win!

West Brom is the type of game we need to win, now lets go on a run like Sunderland last season.

There is no doubt in my mind our players are good enough; Hopefully NP will stop fannying about with formations the one yesterday was good for us 4 at the back was the key!!!

It all goes down to those games against our nearest rivals. We Must beat the teams around us. this is going down to the final day and I have said that for a long time now.

You can put whatever spin on it you want. We don't know exactly how many more points we need but we have plenty of games left that are winnable. We are struggling to break teams down and would benefit by counter attacking with pace. WBA,Sunderland and Burnley should all be trying to take  the game to us that should benefit us and Swansea,Chelsea,Soton,Newcastle will not come to the KP and shut up shop and it could well be on the final day of the season QPR need 3 points as well. For those who have written us off we are 3 points behind QPR with a game in hand, if they win Tuesday they could be out of the relegation zone. Perhaps yesterday we finally found our best starting 11. At half time we tightened up and looked much better for it, granted West Ham had chances as we went to 3 at the back and pushed for the winner, that was always going to happen but we seemed more solid with a better shape. As for left back get Wasy in training to have a little word with Jeff, that should sharpen his concentration.

Also of course the KP was rocking yesterday, take that into the remaining home fixtures and we have a chance.

I arguably think it's the worst time to play the Albion, after that performance they'll have a rocket up their ass and be out to make amends.

Next week is a tough one after yesterday's hammering by QPR. I'd take a point there at the moment. I think Newcastle, Burnley, QPR and Sunderland are the games we target victories and a couple of draws in there takes us to safety. Sounds easy but I'm sure there'll be twists and turns yet.

The two key points.

We have to follow this up, and maintain it.

We will still have to rely on other teams doing badly on the run in.

It's a very slender chance, but it is a chance.

There's a third key point though..... We still get to play Burnley, Sunderland and QPR. Even if they have a good run with us, we will still move in front of QPR, and would be unlucky not to move ahead of Burnley too. Even Sunderland aren't out of our reach as long as we win these three matches.

Edit: This website prediction thing gives me confidence............ http://www.thefishy.co.uk/calculator0.php?Competition=1.......If we draw against Newcastle, Swansea, lose to Chelsea and Southampton, and beat Burnley, QPR, WBA and Sunderland, it predicts we finish 17th
