THAT penalty

I haven't had time to scroll through all the posts on the forum about today's game but I still today can't watch that penalty miss against Watford 2 years ago and what happened next

BUT I haven't seen any media compare the goal today with what happened and whether it might bury some demons for some.

That was a dark time but today we have had a similar experience but from a different side

Does it help you forget? Does it compare?

No, winning the league last year made me forget the penalty.

The Watford incident was score and we go to Wembley, today was just a game against bottom of the league. Much less important with less riding on it

I can watch that penalty and smile. They didn't go up and we didn't deserve to. We put those demons to rest last year. If we stay up, it'll be a cracker against them next year.

Agreed, that's well in the past for me now, I don't have any real 'demons' to bury.

It did spring to mind a few minutes after we scored. But it isn't quite as dramatic, crucial though it is.

Feel sorry for Burnley. We all know what it felt like after that Knockeart penalty two years ago. It was probably as big a game as well. Fair play to Burnley, they have put a fight up with a squad that some questioned wasn't good enough for the Championship. We were poor today and so were they. So many mistakes in the game, and we seized on one of their mistakes. Kasper was unbelievable today, Morgan and Was were also terrific.

Knockaert smashing that goal against them last season buried that for me

It does make you appreciate how good that feeling must've been at the time for them though

Hopefully ours actually contributes something to the outcome of the season! (unlike theirs)  :)

I don't understand why anyone would feel sorry for Burnley. They are in the Premier League. They have competed well. They are ultimately going to relegated. What's their to feel sorry for them about?

**** em

Couldn't give a shit about anybody but us, except I am annoyed Udinese B won promotion to the PL

I'm still slightly bitter about the Kermo one (even though if we had gone up we'd have been demolished.), not sure why anyone would still be bothered by it. A. We didn't deserve to go up B. They didn't go up C. Knockaert got his revenge D. We bounced back better than ever E. Swings and Roundabouts

Agree with this. They've received the same TV revenue as us, they've just chosen not to spend most of it. What they have spent has been woeful (George Boyd: occasional worldie but otherwise shit) and their inability to sign anyone who is not English shows they have invested nothing in scouting either. They deserve everything they've got this season.

In the grand scheme of this season Bunrley are a big rival, I hope the miss haunts them and they lose all their remaining games.

There was potentially more at stake at Watford than there was yesterday.

The commentators did actually refer to the playoff defeat shortly after Vardy scored the winner at Turf Moor.

But it did make for an almost identically nervous match.

I watched that Watford game in a bar with two Burnley fans who were very respectful after it happened. I also have Watford supporting friends who were very magnanimous in victory. So yeah I feel for Burnley fans. Gloating is not for real football supporters. Not least as it sets you up for a fall.

Don't like Watford. Not just the play-off incident, but I distinctly remember one of their Italian loanees throwing a bottle at one of our fans at the KP last season. The fans I've met have been twats, although admittedly every club has their fair share.

I haven't watched the Watford incident since it happened live, and I don't think I ever will. I can't bring myself to, it's still painful.

Even when Sky Sports News bring out the clip of the reporter describing it, I turn over or leave the room.

Certain demons were laid to rest when we beat them last season and won the league. In a way, I think that penalty worked as a catalyst for how we performed last year.

Watford a small shite town near Luton

Burnley a smaller shite town near Blackburn.

Both forums bleet on about us like we are same city sides. Not only the fans but even the manager of one of them needs to grow up ffs.
