Soar Fox Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 And yet a lot on here turned their nose up at Sako on a free. Exactly. £7.5 million plus whatever Antonio's wages will be will end up costing a lot more than what Sako is getting at palace. I said in the summer I wanted Sako he would have been perfect for us. No surprise he's doing well at Palace they play a similar style of football to ourselves.
Soar Fox Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 I doubt he's getting obscene wages at Palace. £50k max I reckon. What's happening your end has Stearman gone yet? I thought he was your captain and from what i saw on Twitter your fans seem very disappointed by it.
The Bear Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 Yeah it's an odd one. He was player of the season last season. Though that was based on a good last couple of months really. £2m from Fulham. Doesn't want to leave apparently but Jackett seemingly wants the money to use elsewhere. Bit out of the blue but £2m is good money for someone who is in the last year of his contract and isn't massively better than what we have at CB. I think Jackett thought he could use that money to improve the team in other areas. We're reportedly signing Jason Byrne from Swindon who's a winger for £1m. Some fans are disappointed because he's our captain and it implies we need to sell to buy, which I don't personally believe.
AKCJ Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 And yet a lot on here turned their nose up at Sako on a free. Sako strikes me as someone who isn't fussed half of the time. Antonio strikes me as someone who blows hot and cold but still works hard. Anyone that has seen our squad will know we're only interested in those who play for the team. Besides, after the massive wage demand gap there really won't be much in it over a 4/5 year contract + signing on fee, plus Antonio is 2 years younger.
AKCJ Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 I doubt he's getting obscene wages at Palace. The same club that is paying 90k p/w for Cabaye??? There's ludicrous money in the Premier League and Sako knew he could ramp his demands up knowing there wasn't a transfer fee involved, I'll be amazed if he's on anything less than 55k p/w.

In fact on those days he probably tries too hard which makes it worse.
RedHux Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Antonio makes for a blinding YouTube reel and has been our only significant threat for ages. That said, our only tactics have been to launch it 40yrds at him and hope he does something amazing. Mostly he stood on the ball or was nullified by a defender but every so often he'd beat 4 or 5 and twat it in the top corner. Hopefully with him gone we might developed a new tactic. With Dougie though, who knows? Also, apparently were getting Ryan mendes and some chap called schelotto (sp?) from inter.
RonnieTodger Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Austin must be livid. I thought there'd be several clubs battling for him and we're the only ones to have apparently made a bid
Soar Fox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Michail Antonio joins West Ham. Richard Stearman joins Fulham.
Wymsey Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Austin must be livid. I thought there'd be several clubs battling for him and we're the only ones to have apparently made a bid He'll probably injure his knee again anyway.
Happy Fox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 The Sheepshaggers have signed Bradley Johnson for £6m!
Soar Fox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 The Sheepshaggers have signed Bradley Johnson for £6m! Absolutely ridiculous amount of money. And we were accused of buying the league a couple of years ago.
marko Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Derby have spent a cool £10m this afternoon! Wonder if they'll get the 'big spenders' tag?!
Corky Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Anything less than promotion is serious failure for Derby with the squad quality and transfer outlay.
SMX11 Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Outrageous spending from Derby. Makes Sven look prudent.
Soar Fox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Bradley Johnson can't wait to start playing for Derby City lol
ScouseFox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 tbf johnson is potentially a great signing. ignoring the fee of course which is ludicrous.
Vlad the Fox Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 So what's happened to FFP in the championship this summer? There has been some serious money thrown about, is it a desperate bid by teams to get into the prem for the new TV deal? realising it will be more difficult once they have to compete with the wealthy relegated, and as such there will be some serious FFP fines and embargoes dished out next year?
lgfualol Posted 2 September 2015 Posted 2 September 2015 Derby spent nearly as much as us this window

The rules have changed. Something about it not being all about last seasons losses but the previous three seasons. Essentially you get two years of shit or bust and one of belt tightening. It's something like that anyway, probably be different again next year.
Wymsey Posted 2 September 2015 Posted 2 September 2015 Jutkiewicz suffers apparent long-term knee injury. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34129260 Feel quite sorry for Dyche, as that's the FIFTH player to have suffered this type of injury...
