The Championship - 2015/16 Stuff It In Here

What a pile of shite. As if that's going to get people more people into it. Hate to think what they spent on that when they could have been investing in grassroots or match-going supporters.

Pathetic isn't it. Can't stand all of this cringeworthy hype around it in that article as well. It's so pointless.

How do they expect a second tier to go global? Surely they'll realise the fact it's a second tier handicaps it a bit?

Sounds American. Logo looks like something NFL would come up with too.

I wish non of this existed and the top four divisions was just "The football league" like intended.

Exactly what they are going for I think. You see on American broadcasts the Premier League is referred to as the EPL so I would imagine they are just trying to emulate that. Like others have said it sounds very much like a new product launch and its crap.

he's not going to want to go to a club that's fanbase is just a bunch of posh noncey tory types. He needs a real piss and vinegar kind of football club, like an Ipswich or a Wolves.

Fulham's main catchment is Hammersmith which (unlike Ipswich) is Labour.

The perception of their fans is unfair. Only a few years ago they were in the 4th tier with gates of 4K. They increased that by marketing themselves as one of the only PL teams in London where it was possible and relatively easy to get tickets. Many of those fans they picked up stuck with them.

Lots of people getting upset about a re-brand in what is essentially a large PR exercise that has resulted in trending worldwide on Twitter and across national news..... Job well done i'd say  :appl:  :fishing:  :fishing:

As said above... logo is inoffensive, clean and will make it attractive to sponsors providing the Football League with funding to continue keeping all three leagues competitive and in line with the Premier League.

Whilst forgetting that the EPL is only the EPL because of the TV coverage around the world...

Clearly trying to reach out to an international audience without the coverage needed to do so. Shame because I kind of liked the traditional nature and history of the Football League. You only have to look at The Championship trophy to see that it's not as corporate and commercial as The Premier League.

Not really sure a bit of trending on Twitter and TV coverage for one day is worth sacrificing the image of your brand for. The fact there's a re-brand in itself would be enough for that. I'm pretty sure the PR people who are in charge of the PR exercise will be looking at the negative comments with worry rather than delight.

I understand what you're saying, but they've maintained the brand that the fans care about, that being the names of the competitions, so they all still remain. Really all that has changed is the name of the 'holding company' if you like, and really there isn't a fan in the world that can honestly say they care what the governing body of the league they are in is called surely?

Having worked around Football for a year or so last year, everything is negativity from fans, it's horrendous, so no PR team would expect anything less. Whether that is towards players, other fans, clubs or leagues/companies, people will jump at the chance to criticise, that's just the world we live in now and Football is the absolute worst for it.

They'll know that no matter how the message of the rebrand was received, it was sure to reach millions & that's exactly what they will have wanted.

Also... the new brand is a million times better IMAGE wise... The old logo and typography looked like it was still stuck in the Nationwide League days!

Perhaps they are boycotting because of the way the club is run? It's what people ask for isn't it?

I agree with you, but Cardiff had an average attendance of 27k wearing the red kit in the PL at which time the fans were at their most vocal about the club owners.

Last season their average gate in the Championship was 21k, in which half the season was spent wearing the red kit.

This season they are back in blue and playing reasonably well, yet their average is 14k and the stadium less than 50% full.

That's a huge tail off in attendances in anyones book, especially as most of the problems with the club owners happened more than 2 years ago.

Firstly, agree with you that the IMAGE is an improvement but the name seems to be purely so it falls in line with other Sporting leagues like the NFL and MLS. EPL is what they'll refer to now.

Secondly, just accepting that football fans are negative towards everything isn't really a solution is it? There's a reason why that is and it's because the people who run the sport couldn't be more out of touch with the average fan if they tried.

I guess it's a reflection on it's reduced status in the world of football made worse by the creation of the EPL. It was known as the FL because it was the first likewise the FA doesn't carry any clarifying letter because it was the first.

Yeah, everyone's clamouring to be in divisions numbered in a way that make no fvcking sense.

I had a quick look at their forum, seems to be a mixture of disinterest due to Tan, the cost and the dreadful, turgid football played under Slade (despite their reasonable position.)

I'd say the negativity of fans stems from a minority (but the most vocal making them seem a majority) or fans Aged 40 plus still being stuck in the dark ages, thinking they have to be angry about every little change or move towards the future. If I had to site examples the disgusting behaviour of some of our fans at Pre Season games this year towards Okazaki, Women, Police and Other Minorities etc as perfect ones.

Yes the men in Suits are a little too focussed on Money, but of course they are, that's their job!

As always, those in that backwards minority that complain will only do so with their mouths because it makes them feel like big important people... needless to say they'll still sink ten pints before attending every game, hurl some abuse and crawl back to their family later.

As I said, that's the minority.... granted some people on here/twitter are just annoyed at the change because it feels all to commercial, which is fine but that's the position that all leagues have got themselves in to..... even Germany refers to its league as the DFL now... and they're seen as the shining light of all things fan friendly in the football world.

A few people commented on a football forum of a team that spent many years in the 'EFL', what a roaring success that proved to be.

I don't really see any issue with the logo, just seems a pointless exercise to me which is being made out to be something that it isn't.
