Donut Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 The hyperbole crew are out as usual. Sterling clearly isnt "shit" and could be a good investment. Theyve paid over the odds, no doubt about that, but hes not shit and could be influential for Man City

Theyve paid over the odds, no doubt about that, but hes not shit and could be influential for Man City I too think he'll be very good for Man City. He's been courted as one of the most exciting young players in Europe...far from 'shit'. It's the price I'm questioning. Then again, football is its own crazy (sometimes completely outrageous) world.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 My point was simply if you do get hyperbolic and you had to pick one extreme or the other he's much closer to shit than brilliant.
Fox92 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Man City are desperate for some home grown players thats what it is, Yeah, exactly what I've been saying. Especially considering they lost Milner and Richards now.
Tielemans63 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 John Bostock from palace? Highly rated 15 year old who then did nothing at all of note for a few years, not a clue where he is now. Yes it was him. Plays in the MLS now I think. I remember seeing him play for Palace and he was bossing it aged just 15 - I thought he'd go in to be an awesome player. Such a shame.
Jimothy Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 It was Bostock. Just looked him up and he's playing in the Belgiun second division at OH Leuven.
Tielemans63 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 It was Bostock. Just looked him up and he's playing in the Belgiun second division at OH Leuven. ....and by the MLS I obviously meant the Belgian second division.
MC Prussian Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 So, Manchester United approach Southampton over Morgan Schneiderlin: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33502604 £25m? The amount of money thrown around is getting ridiculous now. First, 49 million pounds for Sterling, now this... Overinflation, hello... Schneiderlin's good - but worth that price?

Getting ridiculous?! It's been so for years.

Hard to say what players values are anymore. The market is a mess
J.Lisemore Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 And now we wait for confirmation of Sterling's wages... 300k a week? What do we reckon?
davieG Posted 13 July 2015 Author Posted 13 July 2015 People were saying the same when Clough bought Trevor Francis for £1 million
Soar Fox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 How long until we see the first billion pound player?
Jimothy Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 How long until we see the first billion pound player? A long way off. A billion is a million million, and the record isn't even at 100 million yet.

Guest ttfn Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 A long way off. A billion is a million million, and the record isn't even at 100 million yet. A billion's not been a million million for ages.
Super_horns Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 And now we wait for confirmation of Sterling's wages... 300k a week? What do we reckon? Well if nothing else there is going to be a lot of pressure on him and the City fans will expect instant performances.
Jimothy Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 A billion's not been a million million for ages.Yeah, meant 1000 million. It's my first morning getting up for work after a week off, brains not working yet. Still we've not had a 100 million pound player yet, so 1000 million is a long we to off.
Samilktray Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Giving Brendan Rodgers another 50mill to spend, terrifying thought that.
J.Lisemore Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Well if nothing else there is going to be a lot of pressure on him and the City fans will expect instant performances. Was just thinking to myself, it really can't be that enjoyable to be a City fan these days. The expectancy to smash teams like us, and even if they do.. it comes as no surprise. Suppose what I'm trying to say is, I'd prefer if we worked our way up to their level, rather than being given an unlimited war-chest. Its the little things I noticed last season for example on MOTD - scaled down crowd celebrations if they take the lead against say Us or Hull. Interested to hear if anyone else would enjoy supporting a club with a 'big club mentallity' so to speak? Me personally, the unpredictability is what makes it special for me with Leicester.

I'd hate it to be honest. Give me Shaun Goater over Aguero any day Much prefer the underdog title

foxfanazer Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Isn't a billion 100 million? No 100 million is just 100 million. Our owners didn't write off £1b of debt for us. If they had i could probably forgive them for sacking NP
