Esteban replacements - Wishlist!

Just had a quick glance at the top 4 squads to see if there is anyone knocking about who we could tempt away. Mikel Arteta maybe?

Bet we end up bidding for Leroy Fer.

Fer would be amazing ar this point. I am shocked at how many players don't want to play for us. The attraction of the prem alone is clearly not the draw I thought it was.

Leicester is the reason imo

Got a norwich supporting mate and he said they are majorly struggling to get players in too. I would like to think we are a better draw than them!

Maybe we should have signed James McArthur after all things could have been very different right now....

Watford don't seem to be struggling bringing them in? Every player they have signed seem to mention the premier league ! 10 players now...

Our we setting the bar too high?

They don't struggle because they're willing to pay the price (over the odds in some cases) for the sake of it. They realized they needed more top-flight experience and are doing it the gung-ho way. Looks like they'll be putting a huge emphasis on squad rotation (with a few exceptions like Deeney up front or Gomes in goal).

I do hope that we've learnt our lesson from previous spending sprees and are going for quality instead of quantity this time around - even though our striker situation has me a bit worried. We've got at least one too many (unless two will still leave on loan or for good).

Watford is an attractive proposition for a foreign player - it's basically London.

They have a life to lead outside football and let's be honest, would you want to move to Leicester as a young rich twenty something red blooded male?

Add to this that if they perform well and Watford get relegated, there may will be other London clubs who will come in to buy them.

However, Leicester isn't that far from London - train into St Pancras doesn't take much longer than driving there from watfords training ground in London Colney. (And it's much less stressful)

Diame would be a very good fit for us. Is he back from injury though?

He was out for much of last season injured, played about a dozen games for Hull and looked very good.Would Hull want to sell having only bought him last summer?Has he fully recovered? If so,a good option.

I think Hull are in a position where they are having to offload aren't they?

A decent sum for a midfielder who was out for much of last season and they'd probably accept it.

Relegation would have hit that size of club hard I suspect.

I wouldn't write off Cambiasso returning.

There's been no new news on him going elsewhere and he probably didn't come back because of money.

I just think that as the club has got more desperate as one player turns us down after another then giving him the money what he wants becomes more attractive.

We appear to be in desperate straits over our MF and for another million Pounds or so it might become more and more of a better idea to give him what he wants rather than buying a rash MF that we don't really want out of sheer desperation.

I have a funny feeling that Cambiasso could still return, the timing and wording of his Facebook announcement, an hour or so before our first pre season friendly, did make me wonder if it had been pre planned by Esteban and his advisors in hope of the travelling fans using this match as an opportunity to show there support for Him and put pressure on the club to renegotiate. The lack of him turning up somewhere else does make me wonder if the announcement was a ploy and gimmick to force the clubs hand...we will wait and see

He played to the wire last summer,as if we were his insurance. If nothing better appeals to him by late August you could be right.

stranger things have happened and has been nicely left to be worded along the lines of.

EC loved the club and just could not walk away, the pull to return was too great etc etc. Thing is even if he returned we still need another quality CM

Why Esteban Cambiasso’s decision to leave Leicester is a big blow for Claudio Ranieri.

The board went up and the number was 19. With Inter 2-0 down at home to Catania in March 2012, the San Siro crowd were frustrated and directed their jeers at their departing midfielder Esteban Cambiasso. Claudio Ranieri’s side did manage to scramble a point to avoid a sixth defeat in a row but Cambiasso is unlikely to have fond memories of that day.

He sat on the bench in tears. “An emotional reaction due to the great love I have for my profession,” according to Cambiasso. It didn’t save him from the axe. “You’d have to ask the coach whether it was the right decision to replace someone who has won so much,” said Inter skipper Javier Zanetti. “If Ranieri makes his choices, there must be a reason.”

Javier Zanetti on Esteban Cambiasso's withdrawal

Inter gave up trying to figure out Ranieri’s decision-making process just weeks later. The veteran coach was replaced with Inter in eighth place - eventually finishing sixth, their lowest league finish in 13 years coming just two years after being champions of Europe. Now Ranieri finds himself at Leicester just as the wildly popular Cambiasso elects to move on.

His appeal to Cambiasso fell on deaf ears. “I said to him: 'I need you. Everybody loves you in Leicester, please come back’.” But there is to be no encore.

Sky Italia journalist Valentina Fass believes Cambiasso’s motivation was simple. “He didn’t have a bad relationship with Ranieri,” she told Sky Sports. “He just had other offers. From what I understand, the only thing he cares about is playing. If a manager lets him play plenty of games then he’s happy.”

This might hint at the real reason for the decision to move on. From his debut display off the bench in a 1-0 win at Stoke, Cambiasso found most of his success at Leicester in Pearson’s three-man midfield. The Leicester boss dabbled with two in the middle but it was the switch to 3-5-2 that brought a late flurry of points and Premier League survival.

Usually if you're 0-2 down, make subs and come back for a draw, there's a queue waiting to suck you off.
