Whilst in some ways he is a one off and totally irreplaceable, we have to fill his spot somehow. So who do you think we could bring in to do a similar job? Here are my suggestions (I hope he goes no where) Jens Hegeler Andre Gomes Eugen Polanski Bruno Soriano Christian Gentner This is of course total fantasy football and just a bit of fun.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I don't think we'd need to replace him as such, just bring in a real defensive minded midfield spoiler and let the likes of King and Drinkwater have a little more creative freedom. Somebody like Capoue or Stambouli from Spurs would be terrific, loan deals for either not completely beyond the realms of possibility either.

We can't afford to be shit in the midfield for two thirds of a season again. If Cam goes, we will need 3. One to replace him, one to replace James and one to improve on what was for the majority of the season (King aside) a weak midfield

We do need a defensive minded MF, for far too long our midfield was woeful defensively. One of Cambiasso's advantages was his quarterback ability... Playing fast, first time balls down the channels for Nuge, Vardy, Mahrez & Schlupp.

ballisimo Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I hate to say it but I believe he won't be re signing. We will struggle to find someone with the quality and footballing savvy of Esteban. Finding someone to keep is ticking over the way Cambi did will be the biggest challenge for Nige this summer.
dmayne7 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Huddlestone was the first player that came into my head purely because he is Prem class and will be available. Of the list provided, Andre Gomes is probably the only player with a bit of wow and potential. The others are all decent but not huge improvements on what we have. The reality is, that we're not going to be able to replace him but we might be able to get some young lads who are only a little below him, with the potential to exceed where Esteban is at the moment.
