STUHILL Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Leicester City coach Nigel Pearson is reported to have contacted Michael Essien over a summer return to the Premier League.According to reports in the British tabloids, Pearson is very much interested in a move for the 32-year-old who left Chelsea to join AC Milan in January 2013. Essien becomes a free agent at the end of the Serie-A season. He has however been offered a lucrative deal to join Greek giants Panathinaikos.Pearson however looks to lure the experienced midfielder back to the Premier League with a chance to guide budding talents coming through the Leicester ranks . http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=360090
DennisNedry Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Remember him at Chelsea but don't really remember what type of midfielder he was.
CharlieCharles Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Remember him at Chelsea but don't really remember what type of midfielder he was. box to box apparently. can defend and attack, deffo would get him on a 2 year contract.
mugshot Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Notice this is only on two Ghanian websites....I also liked him at Chelsea but not sure there is that much in it from where this is reported.
VLC86 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Remember him at Chelsea but don't really remember what type of midfielder he was. Would say he was a DM but could play further forward. To give you an idea of how good he is now, Sulley Muntari played instead of him every time I have seen AC this season.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 32 only, well if he is half as good as he was a Chelsea and comes at a reasonable wage would be a quality signing
KFS Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Notice this is only on two Ghanian websites....I also liked him at Chelsea but not sure there is that much in it from where this is reported. To be fair, lesser known sites started off the Kramaric and Cambiasso talk
Charl91 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Essien was a beast in his prime. Ridiculous. Beast of a shot on him too. Dunno how good he is now though, I think he relied quite a lot on his physical attributes.
lestalee Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 If that's the case probably means cambo's made a decision not to return .
eddylcfc Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Shocking now... If we are looking to replace Esteban this is not the option
bovril Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 I can't believe he's only 32. He was superb for a couple of years at Stamford Bridge.
cc_star Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 He was unbelievable at the height of the Gerrard-to-Chelsea period Surprised he's 32, think he's lost 'it' and plays like a 36 year old
lcfcnsk Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/michael-essien-rejects-qpr-move-5040002 Michael Essien rejects QPR move... because he doesn't want to play against former club Chelsea
Tom's Pasta Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 No nonsense robust CM who plays it simple. Kind of like a more luxurious Dean Hammond. Might be a little injury prone though? But I'd take him if his attitude was right and wouldn't demand ridiculous wages
The Doctor Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 All action beast when he played for Chelsea but masses of injury problems the last 3/4 years. If he's over those without too much damage, I'd have him in a heartbeat, but I just can't see him having lost nothing in that time.
VLC86 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Probably scouted for Chelsea by Steve Walsh. He did indeed.
fox123 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 I didn't realise he was only 32. Seems to have been around for so long. He was great at Chelsea. Sign this man up Nige!
Alex_LCFC Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Essian and cambiasso pairing in central midfield would be class
Fox92 Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Haven't seen him in recent seasons, but he was class for Chelsea.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 I got the impression a lot of his game was based on physicality and mobility, 2 things which invariably take a hammering in your 30s, not to mention after a couple of serious knee injuries. Would steer clear personally but in Nigel we trust.
shen Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 He hasn't half scored some absolute crackers. I remember literally jumping out of the chair when he scored that ridiculous volley against Barcelona. Zidane-like hit!
ALC Fox Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Absolute quality in his prime. If memory serves me right, I remember him marauding from box to box on the right side of a diamond. 32 years old isn't too old but then some players seem to lose it earlier than others. I remember an article going on about how he attributed his high energy levels during matches to sleeping ridiculous amounts during the day. In his prime, fantastic. Now, the jury's out.
Callabinho Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 He doesn't strike me as a Pearson player. Hasn't he got a shocking attitude? He's refused to play for Ghana twice didn't he? As good as he is I think he would spoil the dressing room.
