Depends on how he feels about it. If he's happy being a fringe player, I'd be more than happy to keep him as another option. The issue we've really got is that we're now overloaded with strikers and Mahrez has come into the mix as good enough to start in the team but versatile enough that we can keep Albrighton on the wing, so Mahrez naturally assumes the position otherwise occupied by Nuge.

Shame really.

That's a shame but surely everyone thinks his opportunities are limited?

Shame indeed; good player for us, but would be only a bit part player this season 5th choice, likely to be a first team regular for a top end championship club and he will surely be able to score 20 goals for a team at that level.

Rumours and I repeat, rumours are that Nuge has been told he's surplus to requirements.

:| He's on his way isn't he. He's more than good enough for our squad, such a shame if that's the case.

Unless there is another striker coming in?

You'd have thought if Nuge leaves there has got to be. The bid for Austin would make more sense in this context.

Stalker.

lol i only saw as i searched for the responses to the original tweet to try and gauge if it was about Nugent or not....it seems that it is.

I think when he plays, even if he don't play all that well, we still seem to play better. Good for morale around the club too but in all fairness I can see his opportunities being limited this season. Not the player that wants to play ten mins here and there every other week.

Seems a bit odd that they'd tell him now that he's surplus to requirements, why not a few weeks ago and give him a chance to find a new club before the season begins?

Can only think that we're bidding again for Austin and that's pushing Nugent out?

Really like Nugent but with 5 strikers, If one of them has to go, it's him. If he does go then I wish him all the best and he's a hero in my eyes. You dont score 50 goals for Leicester and get remembered as anything less!

I'd keep him for another year, good for morale around the place if nothing else. Seems a shame but he is in that tricky group of players who fit somewhere between Champo and the Prem.

A good club servant and a player I rated.

We have five strikers so one has to go. Even the teams with European commitments don't have five strikers so it's not economical to continue this.

If he is going because there are too many strikers... fair enough, he is the only one that hasn't got a large price tag attached to him (minus vardy but he's going nowhere)

If he is going to be replaced by another striker then I think it is ridiculous. I'd much rather see us spend that money elsewhere & keep a consistent enough player for another year.

Agreed but Ranieri is probably not willing to pay someone 20k a week cos hes a bit of a character. Unfortunately I doubt that he understands yet that when Nuge plays, we seem to play better, I'm assuming all he'd have noticed is that there's 4 strikers above him in the pecking order.

Until someone does what he does, he's not 'relegated' to 5th choice in my eyes. Kram/Okazaki are still unknown quantities

A great member of our squad, and when he plays, the team plays better.

If he does go, it will probably be to be replaced by a player from the Italian or French league, who will turn us flat down in favour of a CL club

Risky to get rid, unless you're Arsenal you need a roster of forwards over a whole season. Especially if a player is incoming from France as they'll no doubt be in the awkwardly timed AFCON every 2 years

This is what concerns me about Ranieri, when a character or 2 goes out the squad, you can lose the mentality that saw us stay up last season & can be the difference between us & our rivals

Talent & hardwork trumps talent alone every single time & none came harder-working than our Nuge & the goals he's scored show how talented he was too.

Could be a -20 in the team chemistry column :/

No he is nowhere near good enough.been a good servant ,but not even average for the prem.no prem team will come in for him

Vardy's Mrs popping up with a "wow" in response to her tweet.

Nobody knows.

Everyone thought his opportunities would be limited for us last season but he ended up playing 32 times, including in the big BIG wins against West Ham and West Brom at the end of the season.

I would like to think that players like Kramaric and Okazaki would keep him out of the team, but it would be a bizarre decision to let him go before one of them steps up to the levels of commitment and reliability that Nugent always delivers when he plays.

I don't necessarily have a problem with him leaving but if he's been told he's surplus to requirements that's poor imo, it gives the impression that you can try as hard as you like but you still won't play regardless

This is it, of course you'd like to think the near €10m players will work out for us, but until they've proved they can deliver.... why risk it. Nuge can play in a few positions & his workrate helps everyone else out too. To do that week-in & week-out takes character, especially when results don't go your way, when some of the fancy dans might be eyeing up a move away.

I wouldn't be adverse to a 3 month loan move somewhere, coming back when the pitches get softer & the games come thicker & faster, while we see if Kram & Okazaki are up to challenging Ulloa & Vardy
