Ollie93 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 With Nugent you get a consistent performance, he will put in 100% each week. I can think of a list of players who should go well before him. Long live Nugent.
Guest Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 You Nugent out types are SOOO small time. What possible downside if I there to keeping him? None. Possible benefit of letting him go? Save a few pounds? Who gives a **** - the guy is committed, adds something to the squad if not the 1st team every week. Unless he was pushing to leave we would be mad to let him go. This I am sorry to say that with a squad of 25 there is no room for sentiment He's a damn good utility player. Definitely in the 25. I'd only want him to go if he wanted to leave and then only in a part swap for Charlie Austin or similar.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 The cheeky faces alone are worth keeping him in the squad for
Fox Ulike Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 The cheeky faces alone are worth keeping him in the squad for Amen to that brother. I get soooo fed up answering these threads about Nugent so i'm just gonna post a picture of him with the squirrel. This never gets old.
bovril Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. Like Vardy, he's a no-bullshit type player and enjoyable to watch.
BoyJones Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Nugent didn't let us down last year, contributed to our 14th place finish. I like the fact that all our forwards are so different and i think they all accept the fact that it is now a squad game. They bring different problems to the opposition which I think is important to any successful team. For me, Ulloa, Vardy, Krameric, Nugent are all very decent options up front and maybe with one top addition will be more than good enough for next year. They now know what to expect and should be more effective next season.
Charl91 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Keep Nugent. Think he's over-rated by Leicester fans in general, but he got us up and helped keep us here, so he deserves to stay IMO.
MPH Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I am sorry to say that with a squad of 25 there is no room for sentiment We need to go all out football manager style and have at least eight strikers. lets worry about fitting them all into the squad when the time comes to it...
Wymsey Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Seems someone who wouldn't want to disrupt team morale, unlike Moore (apparently), and one you would have a good conversation with.
Gerard Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I am sorry to say that with a squad of 25 there is no room for sentiment This is utter nonsense. Nugent is in the squad on merit, absolutely nothing to do with sentiment. On his day he's as good as any striker we have at the club and he can also play in the hole, a vital squad member.
katieakita Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 When he isn't good enough to get into the 25 man squad move him on, at the moment our strike force looks to be him,Ulloa, Vardy and Krameric you need at least 5 strikers in the squad and he looks above Wood in the pecking order to me.
JJS84 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I noticed that in the 'Top's ambition' article he says that he doesn't believe the squad requires any more strikers and DEF & MID players will be the priority, think nuge will be keep if the owners won't bring a striker in.

He suffered from injury and hardly played last season. To me he would be a gamble for this season

Bagworthblue Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Nuge is falling down the pecking order but still important to the squad. Ok he's never going to bag 20 goals a season in the prem but he creates quite a lot and weighs in with quite a few assists and key passes. I think though this will be his last season for us as I doubt his contract will be renewed so they may opt to let him go for a fee this summer to help him get a contract elsewhere with a few years on it. However, he will probably still get himself a contract at the end of next season with a half decent 2nd tier club for a couple of years as i'm sure he will get snapped up when available on a free.
Robin JD Popley Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I love Nuge - have done since he first broke on the scene. I was delighted when we signed him and I hope he carries on playing for us for sometime yet. THERE'S ONLY ONE DAVID NUGENT!

I don’t think Pearson really has a pecking order. If you look at the team last season, very few players were definite starters when fit: Morgan, Kasper and Cambiasso. Players float in and out of form. There were periods last season when Nuge was our first choice striker. He really improved once we ditched the 442, and before he got injured (pre-Swansea) he was one of the first names on the teamsheet. He’s 30, and with his fitness levels I see no reason why he wouldn’t again play about 25/30 league games next season, with a lot from the bench. He could probably play at this level until he’s 33 or 34, and I hope it's with us. His low goal stally means nothing cos he is at his best as an advanced midfielder. Nobody expects Mahrez to bag 20 goals a season, so why wonder why Nugent doesn't reach that tally?
hackneyfox Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Shouldn't a good advanced midfielder in a top ten side being getting 8 to 10 goals?
