Matt Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 A bit of an exaggeration don't you think? Not really. Perhaps i've over exaggerating, going OTT, but I think we're in the shit and ruined everything that the club has worked for over the last few years, we're certainly in big danger of doing so anyway. But the owners have made their bed and now they have to lie in it and deal with the potential consequences - which should we have a poor start could be catostrophic for them. On the flip side should we have a good start all will be forgotten but I think there is more risk than reward in the whole saga.
BlueSi13 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 And a French, Portuguese, Dutch or Chilean club wouldnt appoint a manager from another country if they felt he was better? Its not about denying home managers a chance or favouring foreign managers, its about picking the best man for the job, wherever hes from. Perhaps, but that doesn't necessarily come across in the stats, in the top divisions: 94% of managers in Netherlands are Dutch 94% of managers in Portugal are Portuguese 80% of managers in France are French 77% of managers in Chile are Chilean For reference 85% of managers in Italy are Italian 75% of managers in Spain are Spanish 61% of managers in Germany are German 25% of managers in England are English It looks to me that England is by far and away the least enthusiastic about giving their own managers a chance. It's a shameful statistic but it's not as if anythings going to change. Let's just tar all English managers (and players) with the 'not good enough' brush and replace them all as soon as we can eh.
ARM1968 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 No. Let's make em better. That's what we want isn't it. Unfortunately the PL is the richest, carries the most risk and reward and therefore will create an atmosphere where owners take fewer chances.
enmac Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Roy Hodgson is deemed to be the best English manager.! He would have no chance of getting a top 4 job. Perhaps the best English managers don't move up the scale because they don't have good PR skills. Off the point, why would anyone hate Wenger? Sent from my BNTV600 using Tapatalk
ARM1968 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Wenger has been awesome and a model of how to manage a football club.

I just meant the way it suggested that we were in a "perpetual state of off field turmoil" even before Pearson was sacked. I don't agree that we were. We probably are now though.
funkyrobot Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Ranieri is not the tinker man, he's the tinker-then-sacked man judging by his career since chelski
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Wenger has been awesome and a model of how to manage a football club. True. But I still can't stand the rubber faced whinging twat
Donut Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 True. But I still can't stand the rubber faced whinging twat What a compelling argument. And well put.
Corky Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Having sacked Nige, do people REALLY want the tinker man to become our next manager? A few weeks ago, if anyone would have suggested we were sacking Pearson to bring in Ranieri I think we'd have all fainted. I'm not dissing him particularly but he's not the bloke I'd have ever clamoured for as the manager of LCFC. To be honest. This is what we're left with, I'm afraid. Klopp won't bother, Allardyce doesn't want it, Hiddink doesn't, so we're left with an uninspiring list headed by Ranieri and O'Neill. Neither long term alternatives but steady enough short term appointments. Ranieri would be fine, not spectacular but that's fine, we need to establish before we grow. He's had a crap last job but most of our choices will have a crap job in their profile.

Personally ill be honest, I'm really surprised. It does now seem that Pearson was sacked with the owners having not a scooby about who will replace him. And if that is the case, it's a really daft situation to put ourselves in. The season is around the corner. It needs sorting.

MGLCFC Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Largely pretty impressive! (?) If we won 50% of our games, which is about average for his last 4 clubs, then we'd have at least 57 points per season. I'll take that.

They do look to be teams a little above our level ............... may not be that straightforward to extrapolate. Bit like saying if Jose took over we would be guaranteed champions league because of his form.

Bit like saying if Jose took over we would be guaranteed champions league because of his form. But even his worst season has a better win ratio than NP last year. I accept the quality of teams he has managed should ensure a high win ratio, but I think he's a better manager than most names suggested.

Although, I think he would be mostly stuck with what we already have for now. Not that is a totally bad thing.
katieakita Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Had plenty of issues at Chelsea and was in place well before the Russian oil money turned up, brought in plenty of decent players at Chelsea and for those having a pop look at the money Spurs and Liverpool have splashed to get into the top 4 on a regular basis, keep the infrastructure and we can move forward.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I still can't believe that people want this fraud. He has no idea how to motivate players in a relegation scrap and will ensure that the backroom setup we currently have will either leave or become redundant. I wasn't saying this 10 days ago but I'm now praying for MON over this new-era Sven.
ARM1968 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Despite the label of 'Tinkerman' he did well at Chelsea without Russian money. Added some fantastic players and achieved beyond the expectations of their fans. I'd take comfortable mid table this season as a next step any day of the week.
