Big Jorge might just be angling for a bit more money. If the club say he's leaving and we're the only club to come close to the valuation then it must be close

Posted

Well according to his club he has left already so if he was not convinced then he surely is not coming here is he?

I have I idea what that's even meant to mean.

He hasn't gone anywhere yet, the situation is we are the highest bidder and we are in the process of trying to convince him.

If we hadn't sent someone out there we might not even be in the position to talk to him.

Unless they have upped the bid without the media knowing

He will either come to us or stay where he is. Money talks and if he sees us as a stepping stone he will probably come.

The fact he is 3rd party owned is in our favour massively. Let's just chill and see what happens.

Why?

Kante wanted to go elsewhere and we got him in the end (apparently). We aren't any decent players first choice, if we're competing with champions league teams we need to operate differently to get them.

This ^ One bad tackle and their career could be over. It's alright saying I want to go wherever but if we're offering the better deal financially by some way he should be considering it.

There's little sentiment in football, unless Leverkusen have matched our bid I can't see him going there. Inter will need a replacement and a couple of million euros isn't to be passed up because he's a nice guy and wants to go to Germany.

I'm strangely confident about us landing him.

I feel he has little option but to join us. As far as I'm aware BL bid €9.8m and we've bid €15m.

Why would his club sell him for €5m less than what's been offered? They'll play hardball with Aranguiz and let him know his two options are go to Leicester or stay here for 20-25% of the money you could earn in England.

I think He'll reluctantly choose us with some contractual demands that let him go to a bigger club if they want him with maybe a £15-20m minimum fee release clause.

I think it's Hobson's choice for Aranguiz and we'll get him.

Villa and Veretout. Shit happens.

Just taken a peek at the Leverkusen Fans forum. Not as funny as you lot. Basically the view there is, this

fellar is on his way to Europe right now to sign for either Bayer 04 or Leicester. They are even quoting

stuff off of here, so if any one wants to post all Krauts are W'anchors, it could spice things it up. But do not mention the war - shit I just have.

In a nutshell they do not have a Scooby either right now but they are much calmer than us and probably quietly confident. The stadium there looks tasty - bigger than ours.

I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

Money isn't stupid in France or Germany like it is in the English game.

Apparently the average wage in the top German league is like £25,000 - £28,000 p/w. France's average is about £20,000 a week, I imagine likewise transfer fees are generally less and they won't be held to ransom like English teams who will quite frankly pay anything.

which bears out what that German sports writer wrote regarding Okazaki and the fee we paid. Was said to be a lot too much when compared to the German transfer market

If that were the case here he'd be at Leverkusen already.

True, but just goes to show that even though we have offered more doesn't necessary mean we will get that player.

Posted

That won't happen in this case. 3rd part ownership means it'll be the biggest deal on offer and therefore the best payday for them. He will come to us or stay where he is.

I still can't believe we have gone all the way over there without checking if the player is interested first

Do you honestly believe that the club would pursue this player to the point where they would send a representative over to the other side of the world to discuss personal terms if the player in question had no interest in joining? In real football transfers work as following:

1. Player gets scouted on numerous occasions.

2. Player is identified to be in the criteria of the position chosen to be strengthened and believed to be better then all other potential targets.

3. Club contact agent to query the players personality and INTEREST IN JOINING CLUB

4. If satisfied the manager gives the go ahead and the club place a bid for the player which gets rejected on 99% of occasions.

5. Club places another bid, and another until the selling club accept.

6. Representatives of both clubs meet to discuss the terms of the transfer.

7. If the selling club is satisfied the buying club then interacts with players representatives to discuss terms of the contract.

8. If player is satisfied he takes a medical.

9. Player signs contract.

I'd say we are on number 7 at the minute. Bayer Leverkusen are on about number 4. All this talk of the player not being interested is ludicrous because we wouldn't have even bid for the player if he wasn't. The only way we wont sign him now is if he rejects the terms of the contract or somebody more attractive to him outbids us. The fact that he is third party owned works in our favour too because we could have an agreement with his third party promising lots of money in which case Bayer Leverkusen may as well just give up.

So what about the veretout situation?

3 there is basically tapping up. Sure, it goes on. But it's not how every transfer works.

No smoke without fire and we seem to be getting a lot of offers accepted before then being rejected by the player, which sounds feasible when you have lots of money but little prestige.

Can see it now.

Club: And what is your players personality like?

Agent: Well, its pretty ****ing terrible actually. Its a good job you asked. Of course I don't want to take your money, honesty is the best policy.

Surely you would put in a bid then if its accepted you get to talk to the player, he doesn't want to join you are pretty much ****ed, unless you offer high wages and he isn't owned by 1 person.

however we are now past .7 as the player has made a decsion, he spoke with us today and Inter say he is leaving.

Unless there has been a secret bid by Bayer or OM he is ours?

You are right but I would rather be rejected by these kind of players than throw 50k at players like Bakari Sako.

I imagine that this was one of the reasons NP went. He wanted to walk before we run but the Thais want to get to the top asap and with ffp almost dead in the water will throw there considerable fortune behind it.
