EnglishOxide Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Well I'm not really panicking, just asking the question. Why do better clubs never seem to want our players 1. We don't need the money. 2. We aren't looking to offload our biggest assets 3. No player has asked to leave 4. And finally, last season we were bottom for a long time and eventually 14th. We relied on all the players rather than just one or two who stand out (Delph, Benteke). I imagine if we have a seriously good season and finish top 10 there will be a lot more interest, but even then our only incentive to sell would be because the player wants to leave.
Captain... Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 The other thing is we tend to sign players that don't fvck about and try to engineer moves in the press, likewise we don't use the press to try and shift players. Our players get their heads down and just want to play football, take the Chris Wood transfer, it appeared to go smoothly as we didn't leak any information about the bid in an effort to get another club interested and drive the price up. I think it will be different should a Southampton or a Swansea come in for one of our players, but hopefully that won't be happening any time soon.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Because it's best to sell some players every now and then. What do you want to happen, to release them for free when there contracts expire? Some of our players will need to move on soon if we are to progress to next level. We have sold players, we will always buy and sell players. Why, exactly, you want us to sell our best players, rather than the ones we don't want like Wood and Konchesky, I can't really understand. Arsenal were sniffing around Schlupp. We gave him a new contract. WBA bid for Vardy, we turned them down. Would you rather we sold Vardy and Schlupp, which we quite easily could of if we wanted to? Aranguiz and Inler have turned us down immediately, you can't just progress to the next level on a whim.
Stadt Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 We're in no position to sell, if you want one of our players you'd have to pay silly money for them and you can get better players for the money we'd be asking for.
Wymsey Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 No one wants Simpson, and we're trying to get rid of him!
MPH Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Mahrez linked with better clubs Schlupp linked with better clubs Kasper linked with better clubs Ulloa linked to other premier league clubs Vardy linked to other premier league clubs Should be pleased we're not selling, there would be plenty of takers. Could maybe add Cambiasso to that list although he technically isnt our player any more... Linked? Why don't they bid then. How do you know they havnt bid for our players? If they are bidding for our players,. we are hardly going to shout the news from the top of Old john now are we?
NewquayFox Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 The Manchester Police wanted Simpson..... Up the City......
Corky Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 It's worrying me that we aren't selling our better players too.
Tielemans63 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 You've got to hand it to Jimmeh, wherever there's a silver lining, he'll invariably find a cloud.
Tielemans63 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Pearson, Hopper and Smith were wanted in Thailand for a while.
MC Prussian Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I'm sure there's going to be one or two more players going out on loan - especially our forward department is overcrowded.
Dan Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I have thought about it before actually that we hardly ever seem to get big offers for our players and I think it's down to a couple of things. One of them is that we often don't have any particularly outstanding players - like Jordan Rhodes for example is the outstanding player at Blackburn who is blatantly going to get interest from other clubs (regardless of me thinking he's over-rated). Another is that you won't really find any value buying from a financially healthy club. If someone came in for Drinkwater then what use is it to Leicester taking anything under ten million? We aren't going to sell for the sake of it. Consequently other clubs would look elsewhere as they aren't paying that.
cc_star Posted 4 August 2015 Posted 4 August 2015 We flat out turn interest down, Morgan, Vardy, Schmeichel & others have all been subject to bigger or higher placed clubs bidding, but we've always managed to nip it in the bud It was probably Heskey who was last subject to a bid that the club couldn't turn down. Schlupp, Mahrez, Vardy, Schmeichel have shown nowhere near his level of consistency in the top flight, perhaps if they do, the real money will show up and it will be a side to football the Thai's haven't had to think about yet
cc_star Posted 4 August 2015 Posted 4 August 2015 I reckon there'll be a few leaving in January. Yep We /might/ make Watford look like an English team by then
fazzyfox Posted 4 August 2015 Posted 4 August 2015 Mahrez must have impressed some opposing managers last season (Wenger was particularly impressed), i'd be surprised if no one has at least enquired about him.

Yes, players have individual ability, but it's about performing as a whole, unlike Villa for example, who had two stand-out players among a sea of dross It's not worth us taking £5m for Vardy, Drinks or anyone really because we don't need to balance the books & as a cog in our machine they're more than that to us, but as individuals may not be worth more than that to others. If our management style starts to favour 'the whole' less, then that may change by January

Redmond maybe but even then you'll probably be asked for eight figures and you'll realise there's better for the money.
sylofox Posted 4 August 2015 Posted 4 August 2015 Lets be honest for years we have had shite. Under Pearson we had a squad ethic. Would most of NP's players have just fitted in anywhere? Anyone in the know would see that,
