Nugent to boro?

Middlebrough have agreed a £2million deal for Leicester goal machine David Nugent, writes ALAN NIXON.

Boro want more attacking threats for their promotion push to the Premier League and experienced Nugent has been cleared to sort out the move.

Sun.

The 30-year-old was omitted from the Foxes squad for the opening 4-2 victory over Sunderland and does not have a squad number.

Boro are willing to pay a fee for Nugent after the Championship club’s move for Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes was turned down. Nugent is on a big salary but the Teessiders hope to agree terms with the former England man quickly.

Would be a good move for both parties I think.

They have a great chance of getting promoted and are in need of a striker.

Think he's reluctant to drop down though.

For those that are saying you would prefer he stayed. Wouldn't you rather he went with our blessings and on a high from last season and instead we brought in one of Ranieri's targets as a replacement who I'm sure would be much better...

Think he was excellent for us in the Championship. Needs to convert more chances to goals though, not good enough for us now. Can't see him playing much if he stays.

Brilliant player for the club but time to get a bit of money back for him and let Nuge have a fresh challenge!

Seems like a good fit. Would be sad to see him go as I think he's one of most underappreciated players during our recent upturn in fortunes

Think he could still do a job for someone in the prem

Since when is he a goal machine more like. Worst finisher in the box ive ever seen

Akinbiyi, Martin Henderson immediately spring to mind!

Talk about over exaggeration, he was great for us in the championship. So you either have a bad memory because Beckford was far worse or you only started supporting us last season when we went up!

4 million?

Good business for us there,

Thanks David, loyal and hardworking and so many exciting moments. THANKS!

We don't need £2m

We don't know how good Kramaric & Okazaki will be for us despite €€€€€€€€€

Nugent is a great squad member too

Terrible move for us!

People assuming he's not good enough for us now like we're some sort of CL chasing team, when we literally have no idea if 2 new arrivals will offer even a tenth as much as Nugent has

3 month loan out for me, coming back when the pitches get tougher and the games come thick and fast

thats true but we will tell this season & we saw glimpses last season Kramaric has the makings of a very good forward,

I would love him to stay but I wouldn't want him to stay if it hampered his career,

He's been a rather important squad member over the years and I can still see him being influential this year - but could/should we turn down a £2m or even £4m offer for him?

That's crazy money and it's unlikely we'll ever get that much compensation for him, seeing that he's not getting any younger (not trying to be condescending here, David!).

I bet you weren't saying that when we were in the Championship and scoring plenty of goals!! Even when he went through a spell of not scoring, he always gave 100%, can't call him lazy that's for sure!

I like Nuge, but I think even Pearson knew that he'll find it tough in the Premier League. He was only offered a 2yr contract and then under Pearson he signed strikers, it was only a matter of time before his time was up whoever over manager would be.

He has been a fantastic servant to Leicester City and I will be sad to see him in another shirt, but maybe the time is right for the player and club that he moves on. I can imagine he'll be missed in the changing rooms.

Nuge has been a superb player for us but unfortunately I think his time is up for us. He will struggle to get in the team now with all the attacking options. 2m is a good price and we should let him go and play week in week out. Will always appreciate his goals and his tremendous work rate.

Really like Nuge. Good baller. Would be a big loss on and off the pitch. Would rather he stayed as a squad member. He'll get a chance when injuries kick in. But I doubt he'll wait for that.
