Nugent to boro?

Will always like Nugent. Good player, top man. If he was to leave then I hope it is for a club like 'Boro who will be at the right end of the table.

Its good business sense to re-coup some money where possible, and this is a good deal for us. Rightly or wrongly he is our fifth choice striker at the minute and he does seem the type who will kick up a fuss or sulk if he isn't in the squad every week.

Might be worth getting an attacking midfielder, maybe a loan in to replace.

We don't need £2m

It's naive when people talk about us as if we have a bottomless pit of money.

If a player is never going to get a game for us then getting a fee in is good business.

I'd be happy to sell Ulloa, Kram or Nugent if we got a good fee and buy a striker that suits Ranieri better with the proceeds.

Since when is he a goal machine more like. Worst finisher in the box ive ever seen

Were you not here when we had akinibiyi up top? Then all the other poor fInishers, Hammond, Hayles, Cort, Benjamin, Cadameteri, Connelly (wasn't that bad actually) the list goes on.

Nugent has been a great servant for us, I still think he has a lot to offer, but obviously Ranieri thinks otherwise. Great guy on and off the field, lovely family too. Will miss him.

Be happy with £4 million for sure but initial reaction to the original £2 million was that it'd be a bargain for 'boro. I'd say he's a £3 mill player - guaranteed goals in the Championship with him and bear in mind Wood went for that amount.

£4 mill would be a good bit of business. Boro's ambition might be enough to persuade him. Then put another bid in for Austin?

Austin is Pants! If he is a replacement for Nuge I would be fuming. I can tell you now, Austins one season of wonder will be just that. He will go and do a rickets now and disappear. Nugent is more experienced, stronger, and has a better all round game than Austin ever will.

Will be sorry to see Nuge go, he offers a lot to the club on and off the field, terrible to hear him feeling like he is being pushed out. A real kick in the teeth for the poor lad.

It was always on the cards with four other strikers on the books and Mahrez able to slot in behind the strikers. Okazaki showed he filled the Nugent role superbly against Sunderland and has a far, far better touch and more tenacity.

He is a useful player, but we were always going to replace him eventually and if a bid like that which has been quoted comes in, we really shouldn't dither.

No doubt he'd prefer to be a first team regular at a promotion chasing club too rather than be a bit part backup player with us.

I'll disagree on Austin, considering he is only what, 26? Nugent may have a better all round game but Austins finishing is why he's rated at least 10mil. We're one game in so no idea how our strike force is going to pan out. But 4 mill for our 5th choice striker, add 9mil to that and get Austin? I think would be ideal.

Thought he was a bit unlucky last season. I like the man but it's 4 million pounds right? Not Euros.

Opens the door for someone new!

Good luck and thanks Nuge.

Love Nuge and would be gutted to see him go... but if Ranieri isn't going to play him then £4m is good business for us. Having said that, I really wish Ranieri would give him a chance until the January window to see if Okazaki is actually any better!

We don't know how good Kramaric & Okazaki will be for us despite €€€€€€€€€

Nugent is a great squad member too

Terrible move for us!

People assuming he's not good enough for us now like we're some sort of CL chasing team, when we literally have no idea if 2 new arrivals will offer even a tenth as much as Nugent has

3 month loan out for me, coming back when the pitches get tougher and the games come thick and fast

This is hilarious.

Personally I reckon his value to the squad should be worth more to us than £4m.  I'd start at 8 minimum given the sort of fees people have been paying for decent strikers in the Ch'ship of late.

Austin will be on this list in a few years. He doesn't have the all round game to not get found out in the premier league. He isn't technical enough to continue his scoring at this level. 10 million is way over par as well.

Ridiculous comment. Nugent would never get 10 premier league goals. He is our 5th choice striker for a reason. He's not as good as the other 4 and certainly not better than Austin who has consistently scored goals at every level.

He has done a very good job for us but realistically he is a decent championship player or a premier league squad player.

He can't be compared to Austin.
