Larry_LCFC Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Think last night proves how farcical the current England set up is as a whole. No coincidence Vardy comes on and the game changes. Some seriously lazy overrated shit being picked every time over the seriously underrated. Roy is a buffoon.

steflcfc Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Once England's managers change from picking names, to players on form we may stand a chance of winning something The message it sends out is wrong! "It doesn't matter how your form is lads, I will pick you anyway specially if you play for a top 6 team" And some lesser knows names having good seasons won't break into the squad as the manager and FA won't wake up to realise dropping big name players who are underperforming may give them a kick up the ass to know their plane ticket to France ain't guaranteed by any means. Complacency has set in for a few England players for my liking!
adam95581 Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Food for thought...perhaps Woy has always had the intention of giving Vards and Kane 90 minutes each over the two games? For me, if that's the case (assuming that they can't play together) then it was right to play Kane last night and Vardy on Monday as out of the two I would have thought that Estonia would sit deeper (being away from home) and therefore leave less space behind for a quick striker (Vardy) to run into. ...this argument does fall on its arse if Vards doesn't get 90 minutes on Monday. Don't let me down Woy!

fuchsntf Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Almost the complete opposite of the San Marino performances of Vardy and Kane really. With the starter doing nothing and the sub doing ok. Kane is a technically good player, holds the ball up well and brings others into it (which he did last night). His finishing has been excellent (bad last night). Whilst he didn't do much last night, he's still a good player and is technically superior to Vardy. Vardy offers something very different though, with the only one remotely close to his style being perhaps Wellbeck from your usually England picks. At last, at last, some decorum and sense, among the quite spitefull snipes, at English players. Roy has now gone for youth, the players need time.Barkley is only 21 and already been burdened with too many niggling injuries.Last night he and Lallana shown some great touches, mixed yes with some undisciplined lack of on the ball thought or thinking.Roys problem is not his choices, but he gets only 3-4 games out of the top potential players, then big, not small injuries hit, and purges the team building and the players confidence.Walcott and Wiltshire, plus Townsend proving the point. Messi, Ronaldo, have been true exceptions.Even Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Reus,Alonso, Götze, have had their careers interupted for 6-18 months, after good runs, but have recovered (götze could also have problems) others havent been so lucky. plus it takes half a season to recover. IMO Rooneys second big injury, stopped him returning and keeping up his high potential WC form. He always went to a tournament carrying historical injuries, he hadnt fully recovered from. Kane will go up and down with form, but we should also hope, last years form returns, with no injuries leading into the EUROS with Rooney finding his mojo, in probably his last tournament. I accept who and where England are, we are not top 4, occasionally top 6, but a good top 8 international side. NOT MORE. So I support accordingly.

So instead of pointing out the faults of the team you would rather find radiculous excuses for woy and his half arsed wannabes. Kane is a one season wonder, I said it at the end of last season and got laughed at, I was right. I saw absolutely nothing to suggest that he has any technically superior to vardy at all. Why is it you can't be the top type of player unless you play for the top 6 teams? Vardy is a top scorer in the premier league, on form he is better than any other England striker right now. He has proven that he can effectively play a lone role even winning headers, linking up play and closing tirelessly. Didn't see Kane winning anything or holding up the ball at all yesterday or for spurs so far tbh. Our style of play as an England team is boring and doesn't suit our players at all. We have so many creative players who should be driving at defences and shooting on side. Last night we did the opposite of that. Boring ineffective football.
Guest Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 England are NOT a top 8 team in the world at all.
Stadt Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 I don't really rate Kane but calling him a one season wonders is unfair considering he's not even played a full season in the top flight yet

One season wonder..?? 8 games have gone by, his 1st full start in an International. like many its seems you cant wait for someone or something to fail.Hes had one game.At spurs hes still to find form, pushing your luck by telling everybody..'I told you so' is far beyond me. I am sure if we were swapping banter over a pint, we could find alot of mutual points where we might agree. For instance, English managers tending to look for players from top 6 couldnt agree more, but be fair Vardy is getting a look in, also Roy seen he played the 2nd best ball of the night. The 1st led to the 1st goal. Like me I am sure you were dumbfounded, when he bought on a 19 yr old sub from spurs, who many didnt even know of. The old boys have gone, Roy swore he c would go for recognised youth and include the odd in form player. Qualifyers mean only points for me, not how the team plays through the whole game. I lived in Holland and Germany over some years, to me both great tournament teams, but like Italy tend to play lousy in qualies, often ride their luck, but come finals, they try and see that their quarters/semis/finals they are up for it. 4 game perfection. England do it the other way around.

Sadly Hodgson was a boring appointment, his football has always been boring and defensive. A reason why I never wanted him to get the job.

England do it the other way around. Nah he rode his luck last season. I'm not having that Kane has any better qualities than Vardy, he just never impresses Me. He reminds of Rooney, never liked his style of play either. Just not what I like from a striker. I guess different expectations I suppose. You are right about him choosing youth over the old boys, but he continues to play an out of form Rooney, and a radiculously boring Milner most games. It's mainly the style I hate. If you have the ball in a crossing opportunity. Get in in the box, it's the way we pass, around on te edge of the box and eventually pass back to the full back. It frustrates the hell out of me. I want to see a Beckham esque winger pumping in some gorgeous crosses for Vardy, Rooney (if he must) to head in. Not tippy tappy, without a final product. I agree with some of what you say but I guess I feel very dissalusioned by the England team and need to see an exciting side to change my mindset.

Milner is also for me just an unexcusable safe choice, we should of thrown in Chamberlain from beginning, and gone for it. YES for me I would of chosen Vardy, but I am a bias blue.
Stevosevic Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Good chance Vardy will start Monday if Roy is experimenting. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/11923375/England-to-take-experimental-team-to-Lithuania-with-Joe-Hart-and-Gary-Cahill-among-those-not-travelling.html

The options were him or 'Arry though, and redknapps only playbook is throw money at it to paper over cracks, which isn't possible at international level.

I wanted Redknapp at the time, hands down I'll admit that. He wouldn't have ever got it though because he's not a yes man. The FA always choose the yes man hence Brian Clough never got it.

He would never have got it because he'd just been on trial for fraud and spent a significant portion of that trial lying about how he couldn't read or use a mobile phone.
Captain... Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Kane scored an impressive amount of goals last season despite not starting in the Spurs team, he may be a one season wonder but if you have an English 22 year old that had the season Kane had and very few other established fit England strikers he has to be picked for England he may not go on to be the next Shearer but at the moment he has that potential and I would much rather see Kane than Lambert or Carroll. I still think Roy will start Walcott up front without Kane we have no target man so it will be a completely different approach hopefully playing 3 fast attackers from Walcott, Sterling, Vardy, Oxlade Chamberlain we will have more urgency and press higher creating more opportunities and take them on. Hitting it to Kane and hoping he can do something with it despite being horrendously out of form. If I was Pochettino I would give Kane a few weeks off, get away from it a while and see if he comes back his old self, it has worked before with younger players especially after a very intensive breakthrough season.
Guest ttfn Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 England have actually got a really good set of strikers when they're all fit. Sturridge is a properly world class striker; problem is he's spent most of his career either being a total cvnt or injured (or both). Carroll might be a bit shit but he's probably the biggest aerial threat I've ever seen. Kane got 30 goals last season, Vardy's on fire, Welbeck's got a great record for England, Walcott's scoring record over the last 3 or 4 years (again, crucially, when fit) is really good and Rooney has gone to shit but is England's record scorer. England have probably got as good a set of strikers as any country in the world outside of Argentina. Problem is most of them are perma-crippled, not to mention that the options in defence and midfield are pitiful.
Leicesterpool Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Went last night and I've got to say, I was really impressed with the lay out at wembley. Everything about it made it feel special, escalators at a football stadium! Negatives was the atmosphere, even though there was 75,000 there I would say it was even more noise at Yeovil Town. Have to say, around where I was sitting, there was a nice response when Vardy came on. Vardy did more in a his short few minutes, than Kane did in all 90!

Guest Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 On the TV it sounded like Vardy's entry got a good cheer. I was pleasantly surprised and thought there must be a lot of City fans there.

The foxes are the noisiest loudest fans in Europe...2 fans with pundits and commrntators backing prove it....
