J.Lisemore Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Danny Mills was so disrespectful to Vardy after Friday's game. Basically said he was just a trier with no quality and up against a Germany, a France, a Spain he'd be nowhere near good enough. Wish I'd phoned and reminded him of Vardy's goal against Arsenal- skinning the Germany captain before slotting home against the world class Cech. He's so much more than a trier. I don't think there's anyone else like him and I think it's great that Hodgson has given him a chance. Just as you thought this sort of attitude was dying out, Danny Mills brings us all back to reality. Although, it seems Danny Mills still doesn't realise that we are not of same quality as Germany, France and Spain.
RedSoxUK Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 At the end of the day, the team should be picked on form and not reputation. An in form and confident vardy is far more lethal than an average form Rooney, Kane or Welbeck. We pick the same mediocre crap all the time and that is why England will never win anything. You know this just won't happen. I'd like Rooney working with Vardy upfront together, not Vardy out wide, or Rooney as a CF. We'll never see an England team picked solely on form it just won't happen.
HitchinFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Hodgson has confirmed that Vardy will start tonight – just thought I'd mention that as, judging by the comments, not everybody was aware of it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/11925674/Lithuania-vs-England-Dele-Alli-to-play-key-role-for-Roy-Hodgson-in-Euro-2016-qualifier.html

Utterly pointless. Stick him up top, playing off the last man and let Shelvey clip balls through for him. Apparently that's beyond Roy's thinking.
NewquayFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Looking at the proposed team on various websites it could be 442 with Vardy and the gobshite Kane as the 2 strikers, Vardy will be doing all the graft then...... Up the City....

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Where is the quote in that which confirms he starts? There's no quote of Hodgson saying it in that article, just says this: the only confirmed starters were Jack Butland in goal, Phil Jones, Jagielka, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamie Vardy
HitchinFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Where is the quote in that which confirms he starts? Just above the pic of Vardy: "Hodgson declined to confirm whether Alli would start the match – the only confirmed starters were Jack Butland in goal, Phil Jones, Jagielka, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamie Vardy – but the expectation is that the manager will make eight changes from the team that defeated Estonia on Friday night to guarantee England would also be seeded at the finals. Alli, with three minutes at Wembley last Friday, is due to be one of the beneficiaries. Harry Kane and Ross Barkley will be given further opportunities."
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 please don't get injured jamie yeah? Already is. Doesn't phase him at all

HitchinFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 That's not his quote. But clearly states that five of the starters were confirmed - one of them being Vardy?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Isn't that just misquoting when he said them 4 would start and Vardy would be involved at some point? Looks like it to me.
HitchinFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Isn't that just misquoting when he said them 4 would start and Vardy would be involved at some point? Looks like it to me. I don't know about that as I didn't see the original press conference – but according to that Telegraph piece it says in plain English that those names have been confirmed as starters? Apologies if I am spreading misinformation – if Vardy doesn't start, I shall never pick up a copy of the Telegraph again.
Babylon Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 But clearly states that five of the starters were confirmed - one of them being Vardy? That's not his words though, the words he's actually quoted as saying were quite different (see previous pages) Which led to people thinking he might be a moron and not play him from the start.
Fox 4 Life Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Artificial pitch increases the risk of injury - I would not be too upset if he didnt play 90mins! From a purely LCFC point of view, I think he needs to play as much as possible if he is to have a chance of going to France.
Stevosevic Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 After everything he's done for us, i think it's sad for people to say they would rather he didn't play so he is fresh for Leicester. The bloke is living a dream he didn't think would happen and an unbelievable story. He'll want to play as many games for England as possible, some should try being happy for him.
HitchinFox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 That's not his words though, the words he's actually quoted as saying were quite different (see previous pages) Which led to people thinking he might be a moron and not play him from the start. Yeah, becoming clear now that Telegraph might have misquoted and jumped the gun. Only read the DT this lunch time and as it stated Vardy's inclusion as a confirmed fact, took it as gospel.
whoareyaaa Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Surely he has to start who the **** is ali? never heard of him, don't even know who he plays for.
Bayfox Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Surely he has to start who the **** is ali? never heard of him, don't even know who he plays for. Really. Spurs and he scored against us.
filbertstreet Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Surely he has to start who the **** is ali? never heard of him, don't even know who he plays for. Ali Dia is one of southampton's greatest footballers
Stadt Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 YUp. He will get chosen to go, then be a crock, after 1 game.Waste of a choice. Now then, if he was 100% fit and stayed fit, with no niggles, I would take him. Against all odds, even on this forum, I always rated him, but he has had an injury filled career. I would take Milner, as a utility player, but not 1st choice, but if he goes, he becomes 1st choice. Unlike some I reckon Roy is doing a fair job.Even since the WC debacable, hes grabbed out to youth. Some of the young guns , plus a fit Walcott, gives the side a better look. There are no real young CBs coming through, so I cant blame him there.Fullbacks are hit and miss, I like Clyne and again Shaw is injured. If we can get Sturridge firing, and Sterling plays to his full potential, instead of losing the ball, or falling on his arse, then occasionally passes the ball instead of always trying to shoot. AND yes Vardy getting a good look in. Rooney to come good in a tournament final, flexable has a nr 9 and a 10. like many fans, its the ifs in the English package that disturbs me. Stones, Gomez? Carrick is the only proper defensive midfielder we have that's good enough to play Champion's league standard - he has to go.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 It would be discrimination if Vardy didn't play!
