Vardy and England

Glad he came on and had an impact. Might shut a couple of people up. Contributed more than Kane in just 8 minutes.

Definitely under totally different instructions though sadly. There was one where their right back had the ball about ten yards from Vardy and he stood off him! Never usually get that.

England will do nothing in France. Absolutely nothing. We're conservative and bollockless.

Couldn't be arsed to close the ITV stream so now the highlights have come on and Hoddle basically just said that Vardy fouled their defender which is bad but fortunately Sterling played very well running into the box to tap it in.

Hoddle has his favourites. He didn't say anything nice about Theo either.

Perhaps the spirits have told him something.

Has anybody mentioned that he contributed more than Kane yet? Haven't seen it posted.

I know somebody who hasn't.

Just got back from the game and believe people thinking vary good enough for England got into a argument with some cockney Spurs twats. Did not like vary as not a premadonna but soon cheered when Stirling scored, thought the ball to Stirling was the pass of the night

Ha it was a good pass but I think you're forgetting Barkley's assist for Walcotts goal..

England will get no where playing that crap style of football. All those creative players on the pitch. Walcott, Sterling, Lallana etc and instead of allowing them to run at defenders we ask them to play tippy tappy football. How are you ever going to tippy tappy through an 11 man wall? And as for crossing, Kane was in the middle all game and received next to no crosses, because we get to the byline, flick our legs around a billion times, then pass it back to the defence.

No coincidence that vardy came on, was direct and put in a low cross first time and what do you know, we score.

Kane reminds me of Mark Hateley, and I never rated him.

Problem is we don't have any world class players which is where all this to me to you nice passing will break down against anyone decent.

We've won every game but does anyone see anything that suggests the usual disappointment won't be served up next summer.

The team selection is the same old England.

Gotta put my hand up, i laughed like a drain when people first talked about Vardy for england, but love the lad and congratulate him, absolutely deserves all the good footballing things he gets

It's like they over analyse the stats post match and pass completion and possession is king, playing crosses into the box or risky forward passes could effect that. The front line last night would have been made for pacy attacking football with Vardy in for kane if only they would be brave enough to play it, and work hard to win the ball back when they lose possession.

Once Vardy came on last night there was an energy about the front line, but it seems that they have made their decision regarding kane regardless of how ineffective or useless he is. The media and pundits will gush over him regardless of performances and what the viewing public say and we'll have to endure this dour ponderous football that while it beats the lesser nations will never bother the top nations and as usual as soon as we meet one of these top nations our tournament will be over.

Did we not have just as good form before the World Cup? At least we're playing some decent teams in friendlies soon

Can one of the world class coaches on here explain to me how you're supposed to play against 10 men sat on the edge of their box?

Also, didn't think Kane actually had a bad game. Generally the ball stuck to him when it was hit long, just did a target man's job.

I couldn't believe how the so called pundits were bigging up Kane. He won the flick on for Vardy, but that was it. Truly dreadful appearance.

Maybe they didn't watch him in the last tournament he played in,and he's been useless since then.

Almost the complete opposite of the San Marino performances of Vardy and Kane really. With the starter doing nothing and the sub doing ok.

Kane is a technically good player, holds the ball up well and brings others into it (which he did last night). His finishing has been excellent (bad last night). Whilst he didn't do much last night, he's still a good player and is technically superior to Vardy.

Vardy offers something very different though, with the only one remotely close to his style being perhaps Wellbeck from your usual England picks.

Reckon if all the striking options were available next summer its prob 40/60 Vardy getting on the final 23. Definite for at least the stand bys though.

It was a shit match and we were poor, especially Kane, but Pablo was right pre-match Roy was right to pick Kane and pick him in the strongest team available. With Rooney and Sturridge unavailable it was a chance for Kane to show what he can do. Turns out not a lot, but there is a greater chance of Kane being called upon to play up front in France than Vardy. Next match will be interesting does he stick with Kane after that performance, or try someone else, if he goes with someone else I think it will be Walcott hopefully with Vardy on the right to cut in in his left, Sterling on the left I suppose Barkley behind Walcott, but give them a bit of freedom, Vardy/Sterling can switch to down the middle and Walcott going wide you have a fast dynamic attack force that switch it up go looking for weakness in the defence and any sniff of any space in behind they can exploit it.

We don't have proper wingers, our crossing yesterday was poor and there is no point restricting Sterling, Walcott or Vardy to the flanks they lose all threat out there.

Early on one of the commentators was banging on about Sterling taking him on the outside rather than cutting inside on to his right, like it was some genius piece of tactical thinking, but it wasn't it was as if Roy had just said get to the by-line and whip it in to Kane all game. Sterling can't cross and Kane can't head for toffee at the mo, Vardy's one cross was also awful, these are not Wingers like Giggs or Guppy they are forwards and playing the wide role in a 4231 does not mean touch line hogging it requires movement and energy.

It was like watching football on slo-mo. Maybe I'm just to used to new Leicester, but the build up play was crippling!!

I paid £50 for that shit! Whole stadium full of tourists, pretty average performance and just in case it hasn't been mentioned Vardy did more than Kane.

Glad I got to see Vardys Wembley debut though.

Movement and urgency, we were too static yesterday and too slow to get the ball forward to give players a chance at exploiting space before all the defenders got back.

The reason the game was so slow and boring was simply because we have already qualified. Is it worth playing with full intensity and risk injury? Much of the line up will change for the last game and I expect vardy to start.

What the fvck are these ratings?

Everyone gets a 7 except Barkley 8 and Sterling 7.5 seemingly an extra half mark for the goal laid on a plate for him by Vardy, who gets a 6!!'

The comments for Walcott are utter tripe, cut inside too often and too quick?

You're right we should have left Kane up front on his own doing fvck all, while Walcott and Sterling hugged the touch line, raining in shit crosses to Harry's big potato head.
