Dickov22 Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 **** off roy if Alli starts and Vardy dont Exactly
Vardinhio Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 I've read that Vardy will definitely start tomorrow, pretty sure he will.
fuchsntf Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 I want Milner, and Carrick to get long injuries, so they cant be considered for Euros. I want Hodgson forced to play, or chose for squad,...Chamberlain, Barclay, Lallana, Vardy, Wiltshire Walcott when fit. Add a Sturridge, remergence/recovery,.... Kane to find his scoring mojo again.Find a defensive midfielder, ( could be Henderson) then use the CP, and City mentality of pace, with creative thought shablone. A successfull klopp and Liverpool could boost an England approach to the Euros. Successfull Man.city, or Chelsea, wont help any England cause.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 To be fair, We've won all nine qualifying-round matches, and should do the tenth tomorrow. OK, so the opposition was not wonderful, but you can only play the teams in front of you. I do agree that his team selection and tactics sometimes leave a lot to be desired, but you can't argue with the results. I hope he plays Vardy alongside Walcott tomorrow night, and I hope they both get hat-tricks. Well, we can dream - Vardy has to start though. I have to disagree-this attitude is what marked Sven's era in charge as a 'success' ("only lost 3 competitive matches"), when in reality it was a crushing failure, considering the talent at his disposal. Better to lose/draw a few qualifiers if it means that when we face a better team we don't look toothless and uninspired. Qualification, especially from this group, ought to be a formality, so you can only judge success by style, scorelines or innovation. England seldom look dominant, even against Estonia. We ought to be able to create chance after chance, and take a team to pieces on occasion. That certainly hasn't happened since Rooney's debut tournament, and hasn't regularly since 1998. I don't envy Hodgson the job of managing Sterling, Rooney and co., but if they don't perform they shouldn't play. When you have players in form and capable at this stage, you have to play them enough that when you get them to a tournament, they know their place in the team and you trust them to do a job.
Dan Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Sad thing is though there are still people out there who actually agree with the notion that some players should be undroppable. Rooney does not perform well for England anymore and no-one will convince me otherwise. Well, no-one other than Rooney.

conLAD logan Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I'd be very interested to know if it's actually Woy picking the players or is it the sponsors? It would be surprise if say come end of the season, Rooney doesn't score single goal and Vardy bags around 20. Rooney is chosen over Vardy to go to france, purely down to the fact that Rooney sells more shirts. Same could be said for Smalling if he didn't play for a top four club, he wouldn't get in. sort of agreed with you, but then you mentioned smalling as I assume a bad player, he's actually very good, definitely our best CB at the min. He's much improved in comparison to what he once was.

Why is it that no England manager will make it tough for players to get in the team/squad? Hodgson at points during his tenure should have been dropping Rooney and Sterling, and saying to them 'show me more'. Keep them on their toes. McClaren was the only person in recent times to do this and it was with Beckham. Loads of people say he had egg on his face by recalling him but Beckham worked harder, played himself into form and forced his way back into the team. Rooney has Never been made to do that. That's why he's a lazy shitgibbon who very often has taken his selection for granted.

Brought Vardy into the squad, given games to Barclay, Clyne, Shelvey, so he does shuffle the pack. Hes kept Rooney in the squad because he has a good goal scoring record and is still one of our best striking options. And i dont think Rooney would take his selection for granted either. Think hes had a big impact on the group since being made captain.

fuchsntf Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Carrick is the only proper DM we have and you want him injured YUp. He will get chosen to go, then be a crock, after 1 game.Waste of a choice. Now then, if he was 100% fit and stayed fit, with no niggles, I would take him. Against all odds, even on this forum, I always rated him, but he has had an injury filled career. I would take Milner, as a utility player, but not 1st choice, but if he goes, he becomes 1st choice. Unlike some I reckon Roy is doing a fair job.Even since the WC debacable, hes grabbed out to youth. Some of the young guns , plus a fit Walcott, gives the side a better look. There are no real young CBs coming through, so I cant blame him there.Fullbacks are hit and miss, I like Clyne and again Shaw is injured. If we can get Sturridge firing, and Sterling plays to his full potential, instead of losing the ball, or falling on his arse, then occasionally passes the ball instead of always trying to shoot. AND yes Vardy getting a good look in. Rooney to come good in a tournament final, flexable has a nr 9 and a 10. like many fans, its the ifs in the English package that disturbs me.
Dickov22 Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Danny Mills was so disrespectful to Vardy after Friday's game. Basically said he was just a trier with no quality and up against a Germany, a France, a Spain he'd be nowhere near good enough. Wish I'd phoned and reminded him of Vardy's goal against Arsenal- skinning the Germany captain before slotting home against the world class Cech. He's so much more than a trier. I don't think there's anyone else like him and I think it's great that Hodgson has given him a chance.

Vardy wouldnt be anywhere near the squad if Welbeck and Sturridge were fit. Clyne is in because Johnson is finished. Barclay and Shelvey are in because Lampard and Gerrard are finished, Wilshire, Carrick and Henderson are injured. Hodgson has only 'shook things up' because he had to not because he wanted to.

Bit harsh on Clyne. I'd say he was in because Johnson is/was utter tripe

The England squad isn't really filled with triers or players with quality tbh.

I am confused. The current top scorer in the PL is not worthy of an England place where as crocks with current lesser records are an obvious shoo-in.

Do you really think he would be in the set up if Sturridge and Welbeck were fit and playing? I dont. I didnt say he wasnt worthy, England managers have always been scared to give players the chance they deserve. Always stick to the players who play for the top 4 clubs regardless of how they were playing. Bit harsh on Clyne. I'd say he was in because Johnson is/was utter tripe Yet Johnson was still getting picked ahead of him even though he was shite.

Larry_LCFC Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 At the end of the day, the team should be picked on form and not reputation. An in form and confident vardy is far more lethal than an average form Rooney, Kane or Welbeck. We pick the same mediocre crap all the time and that is why England will never win anything.
whoareyaaa Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 England fans in Lithunia want to see Vardy start, Roy better start him if not then what can the lad do.

Same can be said for someone like Scott Dann, Palace have conceded only 7 goals this season, he is on top form but Cahill (14 goals conceded) clearly out of form gets the pick!
