Chill out Mark!!

Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey has hit out at Leicester defender Robert Huth- saying he could have KILLED Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson during an incident on Saturday.

Ex-Stoke man Huth was booked for a foul on Wilson, and proceeded to kick the ball at the Cherries forward's head from point-blank range.

Halsey, speaking to you-are-the-ref.com, thinks the FA should take action against the German, referencing the tragic case of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes.

"The FA should re-visit that," he said. "Kicking a ball in that manner, at that pace at a fellow professional, who is on the floor , that's a disgrace.

So that must mean that every time a striker whacks a shot at close range he is trying to kill the goalie?? That's it, ban football!

Isn't Halsey known for being a bit of a bellend though?

Seen the video where he said it and I can see why if so.

I agree Huth should've walked but what ridiculous sensationalism.

Referencing Phillip Hughes death really isn't on. Not even relevant but also in poor taste imo. Why not mention JFK or something it's baffling.

Halsey is an idiot anyway.

What a stupid statement for a quality ex Referee to come out with, I'm sure The Mirror have dressed this up for sensationalism, I remember the Newcastle player having a wobble against us after being hit by his own players clearance and he was fine. The world is going mad and all players will be wearing rugby style headgear soon if the loonies get their way....

Up the City...

The real story is that Mark Halsey is struggling with being a has been so to garner some attention feels obliged to spout some verbal diarrhoea that stinks as much as many of his refereeing performances

We sit in the Leicester camp and say this is a stupid story, and I do agree. BUT what Huth did was idiotic and could've quite easily been sent off. If Ciaran Clark does that to Jamie Vardy in the next game and doesn't get sent off I think we'd be in up roar.

So while I agree Halsey has gone over the top, I do agree he should've been sent off.

I do like how his sensationalism has really helped people forget the fact that Huth acted like a proper dick for those 30 or so seconds haha.

Yes he behaved like a dick and I was surprised that for kicking the ball and raising his hand to Mings' face he wasn't sent off but that doesn't change the fact that that headline is so hyperbolic it's untrue. Completely nonsensical and inappropriate reference to Hughes death too.

"could have killed him".  lol

"Could have!"

If everyone was governed by "could have" no-one would play any sport more dramatic than chess and we wouldn't drive to work, much less cycle along those silly tracks in the face of oncoming traffic.

I'm not even sure Huth kicked the ball especially hard. He seemed to be holding back even as his frustration boiled over.

I sit in the Leicester camp saying "so what?"

Huth wasn't sent off.

Presumably because the referee, standing right by the incident, didn't see fit to make a drama out of a nothing moment of temporary frustration.

As for Vardy he seems well able to look after himself.

There's no way the ball had had enough time to pick

Up the speed to kill anyone. Just stinks of someone trying to grab some media attention.
