Migrants - What's the answer?

Must admit, quite enjoyed reading the article about the Icelanders - where 11,000 of them signed a petition and have agreed to let some refugees into their homes. Very heart warming.

Would be interesting to see how many of them follow through with their offer when they come knocking on their doors....

Interesting thought piece that just descends into the usual Cameron bum-lick rhetoric we're used to from right-leaning rags like The Telegraph.

Well I tend to try and ignore that, but I think there are quite a few good points in there.

Why is it stupid? War makes refugees of people. It does not say which politicians.

It is just another way of looking at the situation. I think point that is being made is that people moan about the number of immigrants coming here yet quite a few are coming from war zones that are either in conflict against the west (Iraq comes to mind) or the county's military are being sold weapons by weapon manufacturers of the western civilised world. Politicians have the power to change policies that prevent this and we as the voting public have the power to vote in the politicians that will promise to do this.

If you feel this is stupid then so be it. I will not attempt to change your mind. But don't call me stupid for doing what others are doing, in looking for alternatives.

The topic title is Migrants what's the answer?. Not if your view is different to mine then you are an idiot.

It's stupid, and insulting, for one, we can't change the past, but that does mean, later generations have deal with past mistakes.  It's just an over simplistic, single vision statement.

China sells more weapons then majority of the western nations, so why aren't they fooking dictating what's happening.  Weapons arguement is stupid.

The political one is the biggest, but I don't really have the time or effort to divulge in that one!!

I'm a god awful singer, can I sing Bono's part?

Your in!!

You can also do the solo bit instead of Madonna!

If Germany win the world cup again in another fifteen or twenty years with a team full of Klaus Ahmed and Heinz Mohameds then we'll know the real answer was "invite them in and give them football lessons" all along.

I'm sick of the media brainwashing, and the stupidity of those that listen and watch, and comment with puppy dog eyes and a welcoming hug. The fact so few truly understand the mess, and the reasons why so many are travelling to Sweden Germany and Calais (not France, Calais) and why so many are dying because of it, it's staggering.

The Independant / The Guardian's stance.

BBC's cherry picking of a poor cute Syrian girls PERILOUS!1!1! Journey to Sweden.

Celebrities who would never dare risk tarnishing their image; so they hold up #WelcomeRefugee signs instead.

David Cameron's backbone.

Every single Labour politician that doesn't understand why mass immigration is bad.

UKIP politicians that tweet the harsh truth, but succumb to pressure from idiotic politically corecetness drones.

The West's propoganda of a dead child who was killed because of his parents negligence.

The lack of media attention to the economic migrants in Hungary who are RESISTING food and water.

i have not heard of this one. what is the crack there?

There's also a video of the British Red Cross packages with food / aid attempting to be given to those in what appears to be a camp.

Plenty of boxes; what happened was the migrants said no, and told them to go away with the aid - because it had a cross on the box.

This has been featured as the main story on the BBC news today. How exactly is there a lack of media attention?

is this proven to be the reason or have you read it/heard it somewhere?

That's what the YouTube video had in the title / description, will look for it.

Either that, or they were just rejecting the water and aid without a religious sentiment, just to reject being handed out to them for free.

i refuse to believe they would reject it because its christian. with proof i would believe it however. could be many things. they were getting tricked into going refugee camps the other day. What does concern me however is that they are leaving these countries and refusing to go to camps that are a lot better than where they are coming from. why are they not staying in Greece/Serbia/Hungary? Why are they not heading for Slovakia or Romania?

Leicester is ready and willing to take in refugees currently suffering in the growing humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean, the city's deputy mayor has said.

Councillor Rory Palmer wants the Government to open talks with the city council over resettling people fleeing war-torn Syria.

Coun Palmer spoke out in the wake of shocking images showing a young drowned Syrian boy washed up on a Turkish beach.

The image has come to symbolise the plight of people making the perilous trip across the ocean seeking safety in Europe.
