Spudulike Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I actually go light headed and have an out of body experience quite often in the second half when I'm there. Weird feeling wanting the match to end after spending money on tickets and travelling. What really stresses me out is watching one of those dubious streams which freeze just as the ball is crossed into our box.
Fox92 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I'm always stressed regardless of how I'm watching it.
Captain... Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I get the most stressed when I'm at the game close to the pitch and close to the goal we are defending, it all looks so big and open and like there are so many holes for their attackers to waltz through. If I'm higher up or close to the goal we are attacking less so. Don't get as stressed when watching on TV, it's still stressful especially now we are in the PL, everything is so much more important and every player is capable of hurting us. I remember the first game of last season vs Everton, the only time I felt calm when was when Distin had the ball as everyone else just seemed so much bigger, stronger, faster than what we had been used to and every attack so threatening. The most stressful is having to rely on bbc updates, and back in the championship we would take second priority to the PL, so it wouldn't update at full time for ages, so I'm staring at my phone refreshing at 5pm still none the wiser if we have been able to hold on.
goose2010 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 being at the game during added time is horrible as 3 minutes seem like a life time, on the TV you have a clock to look at but for some reason they turn the clock off on the score boards!
Bagworthblue Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 being at the game during added time is horrible as 3 minutes seem like a life time, on the TV you have a clock to look at but for some reason they turn the clock off on the score boards! i'm sure the amount of emotion generated from so many fans causes some kind of parallel dimension merging as whenever we are 1 goal up, all my clocks slow down but if we are pushing for an equaliser, the clocks all speed up
Fox 4 Life Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 It is part of being a Leicester fan, even against Sunderland 3-0 up I was bricking it, when they scored I was on edge until we got the 4th. Too much experience over the years of us blowing leads!!
Hollism Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I'm trying to decide what's worse, Stringer or Soccer Saturday. "There's been a fourth goal at the King Power stadium! Last we heard it was Leicester 2, Spurs 1. Which ways it gone Chris Kamara?" Is there anything worse to hear at 4:40 on a Saturday afternoon?
Bayfox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 If you're watching on the telly your a .... seriously always more stressed at the game, probably because you're more involved, caught up in the action and atmosphere, if I'm sat at home watching on telly, it's normally with a beer in hand, which probably calms me down. Being a Leicester fan is never easy, last season even during the run in the only game I was confident we would win was Newcastle and the early goal certainly helped that day as well.
Donut Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I think the TV probably stresses people more because the commentators build the tension and the stress as well as the visuals. In the ground, its a nervous atmospheric tension. Its tense, period
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I hate watching us on tv. Remember watching the Cardiff playoff game on tv and was literally shaking and never get like that at the game. Dont tend to see us on tv much really as usually there. Last time was Everton away i saw and knew they'd nick that late equaliser
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I get more stress at matches because you can guarantee there will be someone within earshot who will criticise every single pass, run, header, tackle & shot of whichever player they've decided to hate that week.
Matt Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I agree with more stress on TV, although I do seem to remember after Cardiff in the playoff's I just said 'oh well, that's ok' and going to bed although I think it was more due to; being upset hiding disappointment being pissed not expecting us to come back as well as we did But it's not just us, I live next door to a Wolves fan who I always used to invite round whenever they were on TV and whilst being grateful, declined as he always claimed the same things.
thursday_next Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I remember watching a Championship match against Reading just as Matt Mills (the year before we signed him) launch a header at our goal before the screen froze. It was like a 'What happened next?' contest from 'Question Of Sport'. There was no way any of our defenders could get near the ball. I hoped for a while that it was going to go over the bar but that, I had to reluctantly admit, would have been to abandon the laws of physics. The only hope against hope was if it struck the bar and rebounded to safety. I prayed for over two minutes that would happen, but it didn't. At least when you're actually watching the match you can go 'that sucked' and also 'why don't we have any central defenders who can do that......'
Guest Mee-9 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I always remember the Watford play off semi second leg. Brooksy popped round for the game, he couldn't hack the second half. Ended up going for a walk with his phone off, he came back just after Deeney had scored to much rage and swearing. I always prefer the matches, I don't get too nervous. But then again, I think we could lose and I'd enjoy the day out from the asylum without the carers.
cambridgefox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Yeah, much worse on TV,I put it down to being on my own rather than sharing those emotions with 1000s of others who feel exactly the same as I do.
ScouseFox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 there is nothing more stressful than following a game through a betting feed. nothing, nothing, nothing, half an hour later *BETTING SUSPENDED*, what seems like 4 days later betting comes back and it's still 0-0. so much goes through your mind in that suspended time. so tense.
biggs Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Wish I could get to a game but TV is what it is and yes the stress levels after waking up for the 7am kickoff start immediately when my first eyelid opens. Wouldn't have it any other way........would be boring knowing you're likely to win every match........man, we never know !!!
Guest Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I feel far less stressed and more detached if watching on TV. I go pretty much every game though so a rarity these days. Felt pretty chilled watching the Neecastle game on box last season (fact we were winning after seconds helped)
Great Boos Up Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 At the match I start with anticipation. On TV I start with apprehension and that keeps the stress high all the way through. Although I have re watched a TV match and thought what was I worrying about.
Lcfc_1995 Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 During the game especially away matches when we are leading, and the home team is attacking and then all their fans start to stand up and start roaring come onnnnnn when they're attacking our defence is the most stressful, then radio because of how excited stringers voice gets and not sure what's going on
halferowley2 Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 At the game I can watch all the action and all the players positions and know that keeping the ball is not the b all and end all of the game. Yes I get stressed and nervous but I can see if we have the game under control. With the TV the cameras mainly just watch the ball and I get stressed because I really cant tell how well we are doing and if the commentator keeps praising the opposition that really does my head in. Radio? only useful as a results service and the comical after game remarks from radio listeners who have not been to the game.
