Freesolo Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I have noticed a pattern over the years that continues till this day, If I am at a Leicester game my stress levels are not that bad until we get a 1 goal lead and there is 10 minutes of play left and i feel my my blood pressure rising. If I watch us play on TV my stress levels are 10x worse i feel constantly on edge unless we get a 3 goal lead or something, and a 1 goal lead with 10 to go forgetaboutit! im at a risk of stroking out. Does anyone else notice a difference in their stress between watching live and on TV or is it just me?
Marmite Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Doesn't have to be on TV! I get stressed just being at the ground when we go one nil up. The amount of time I have spent pacing the concourse when we were fighting survival was unbelievable. Against Swansea and Southampton I was terrible!
Webbo Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Getting stressed is all part of the experience. If you didn't care there wouldn't be much point watching.
AndWhat? Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Get much more stressed watching on TV. Mainly due to me not being surrounded by mates having a sing song after 10 pints.
TheSomersetFox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 im pretty much perpetually shitting myself at games even if we've got a 2 goal lead with 5 minutes to go, on tv i still feel pretty shite if its a close one but its a lot easier to handle because there isnt the idea of "ive travelled for 2 and a half hours and paid 20 odd quid to watch us fvck it up".
Foxymcoxy Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Radio is the worst for me. Especially with how unclear stringer can be.
filbertstreet Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 worst for me is when I'm at work or have to drive somewhere and either have to listen to shitty radio commentary or shitty twitter commentary
kingcarr21 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Think the only game i watched on Tv that i didnt feel at all stressed over was against Derby. They were truly awful
ousefox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Get a lot more nervous watching it on the tele. No idea why.
ARM1968 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I'm the same whether it's TV or radio. At the ground it's different for some reason, but still get nervous if we're clinging on. Hopefully we'll smash villa and I can relax. Don't see it though.
UPinCarolina Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 On TV everything looks a little closer, a little tighter, more contested.
Kitchandro Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Get much more stressed watching on TV. Mainly due to me not being surrounded by mates having a sing song after 10 pints. Yeh it's this for me, I find the atmosphere (and alcohol obviously) a nerve calmer. Radio is the worst though, especially away. You hear their crowd when they go on the attack and of course Stringer cannot describe what's going on so you're just hoping for the best.
StanSP Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 If I didn't feel stressed at any time watching Leicester I'd start to question my support for them. It comes with the deal of getting engrossed and sucked in to the love of a club.
fuchsntf Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Although I follow nearly everygame, I have never gone into individual game stress mode. Over the years some important promotion, relegation even cup games have put me over the level I suppose. I used to hate the monday ritual, if they lost, but if I had been competing or playing myself, Its relevance took a back seat. I have mentioned in other threads, I always look not in detail, but over ca. 5 game routines, before I give out thoughtfull opinions, or suggestions I would like to see.I can still see remrmber good points from team or players, even when they lose. Too many posters pay their money, then forget the entertainment they have had, then say game was cr#p because we lost. Painfull, its frustrating but one can always blame the ref..!! Obviously, like last season we had a few bad games where we were the absolute pits, not because of the losses, but the very poor game day performances. Where I cant change or influence something, I cant get stressed, thats why I see these sport betting comercials, as utter BS. nobody should put/get themselves into such stress situations.
AyewJoking Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 For me, the less info I have, the more stressed I am. Therefore, in the very rare event I'm actually at the game, I will be fairly uptight but I can see whats going on and how we are playing. On TV, I have an even better view of whats going on and unless we arent doing well, I'm a lot calmer. Radio just drives me mad cos I cant see anything and have to rely on the moron commentating. Dont even like checking the score on final score/soccer saturday cos that stresses me too, if we are ahead, I'm dreading the other team getting back into it. I wait till the game has finished to find out the score. (on these occasions less info means less stress)
Livid Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Yeh it's this for me, I find the atmosphere (and alcohol obviously) a nerve calmer. Radio is the worst though, especially away. You hear their crowd when they go on the attack and of course Stringer cannot describe what's going on so you're just hoping for the best. Hate listening to the radio, can never tell with Stringer how we're actually doing. Don't enjoy watching us on TV, just puts me on edge. Any time we take a two goal lead I get really nervous, to lose a one goal lead and draw/lose and it's disappointing, the thought of losing a two goal lead is arrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Radio for me. It just seems like the pitch is basically two penalty box's with nothing inbetween and I can never quite work out what's happening.
HEGGSY Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I think, like AndWhat? says, it comes down to you being with your mates, having a laugh and singing something to take your mind off the game itself at times. Where as if you're at home watching on TV, your focus is 100% on the game. Does that sound right?
Babylon Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I have noticed a pattern over the years that continues till this day, If I am at a Leicester game my stress levels are not that bad until we get a 1 goal lead and there is 10 minutes of play left and i feel my my blood pressure rising. Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Don't get all that stressed at the games but am an absolute mess watching us on television.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I didn't get stressed in the Championship watching our games live or on TV etc. But in the prem it's a lot worse. Its obviously to do with the fact that points now are way more precious to get than they used to be and we know that every one this time around REALLY counts. So drawing or winning by the odd goal doesn't instil any calmness whatsoever. It was terrible for the last 10 games of last season and so far, this season has started off in the same pattern. Odd as it sounds, my stress levels drop considerably if we go behind.
LCCFox96 Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I usually have fingernails at 2.59pm on a Saturday. I don't at about 4.50pm on a Saturday. The West Ham home game last season was an amazing atmosphere but hellishly nerve-wracking!
StanSP Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Stringer on the radio causes me most stress (haven't listened on the radio to him since the Championship season, though! We could have a shot, he cries out as if we've scored or were close to doing so. Turns out there was a shot which was closer to hitting the corner flag than the goal.
Benguin Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Get far more stressed watching on TV versus being there. Stress is probably more to do with buffering streams though. I'm also less stressed when were 1 down as opposed to 1 up.
Bagworthblue Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Non game day blood pressure 140 / 90 day before blood pressure 145 / 95 games - blood pressure 170 / 100 tv - blood pressure 180 /110 radio - blood pressure sky high / risk of seizure
