st albans fox Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Chris Kamara saying their 2nd wasn't offside...whilst watching it. Infuriating! Given that we have a manager who won't make any comment whatsoever on stuff like that doesn't help that. Jose would have been moaning like crazy and everyone would have known it was offside. Point is, you can't change decisions and as long as something is said quietly to the officials afterwards, it's enough.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 He corrected himself, saying it was afterwards
RonnieTodger Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Scenes when we equalised yesterday. Some bloke's keys to his BMW were found 3 rows behind! Fuchs was genuinely class.
dedlock Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 I like Koeman's honesty. In several reports I've read he says Soton didn't deserve to win. That's about fair from an opposition manager.

Thracian Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 No of course they weren't. That doesn't mean we concede goals due to these reasons. Set pieces was a problem under Pearson too wasn't it. Knowing that Kasper isn't the tallest, we need to defend set pieces with more savvy. Everyone can see the problem we have from set plays - so glaringly illustrated at both ends yesterday but especially by the otherwise outstanding Kante trying to cope with one of the tallest/strongest opponents on the park and it costing us a goal on the near post. Under Pearson the problem was solved by playing Was in a 3-5-2 and having King adding further aerial assistance at both ends from midfield. Right now we're playing 4-4-2 (or 1-1) and taking a calculated risk in maintaining our ability to counter attack rapidly in numbers. In some ways it can be said that our league position strengthens the 4-4-2 (1-1) argument, though not entirely because we've taken a lot of points with both systems. We just weren't conceding so many when Was and King were in the side. Set plays don't represent our only defensive problem either but - those set plays excepted - I'd hardly say the formidable attackers of Southampton exactly took our defence apart. . But the aerial problem needs fixing and I don't think there's many options which provide a potential solution without blunting us in other ways. .
Webbo Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Ulloa playing instead of Okazaki would help at set plays too. Probably contribute more up front as well.
Guest ttfn Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Ulloa playing instead of Okazaki would help at set plays too. Probably contribute more up front as well. Ulloa and Vardy in a 4-4-2 doesn't work. Neither of them have the skill set to drop off the front and link the play - they both thrive on being the focal point of the attack. The only times they've looked effective together are with a 3rd forward linking midfield and attack for them.

Please watch the box when the corner is taken. It wasn't Kante's man. Kante is zonally taking care of the space. Morgan is marking Fonte, Morgan gets blocked and decides not to jump or even attempt challenging Fonte.

thursday_next Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 But the aerial problem needs fixing and I don't think there's many options which provide a potential solution Oddly enough, I have an aerial problem too, since I got my new television. I've tried installing a signal booster, but that's no good. I've decided to call in the experts at aerial installation. Now, you may call me a 'grammar Nazi', but if you get a guy that claims to have twenty years experience at rigging aerials and he still can't spell the word 'aerial' then you can appreciate my problem. Now, I don't know the first thing about aerials, but I do know how to spell it. Or them. I've decided to bin this guy off. Have I done the right thing, or not? The man may have loads of innovative ideas about aerial installation, enough to make other aerial experts lost in admiration at him. 'I couldn't have done that', would be the standard comment. Now, I do realise that this is wondering off the main point of this thread. Hopefully you chaps will find a way of getting it back again. Sorry. As you were....
Chairman of the Bored Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Did anyone see the City fan behind the goal celebrating Vardy's 2nd holding his kid? He was going bonkers and squeezing the life out of the child. A proper family (I'm guessing) celebration. The poor kid looked a bit stunned!

Chairman of the Bored Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 No? Does anyone have a vid? Should see it on MOTD2 tonight. Vardy slides into corner, then look behind him. Great celebration

He was blocked, as you said, which prevented him from challenging and left Fonte up against Kante. I think a big error is even having Kante in there at corners. If people lose a man they'll see another one of our players nearby and assume he'll take over not realising its Kante. Better just to have him on the post or on the edge of the box to pick up a lose ball.

Better just to have him on the post or on the edge of the box to pick up a lose ball. just furthrring your point on Kante, one which I mentioned in an earlier post, whstcwas Kante doing there in the 1st place. ! !Scholes used to take the post for Manu, and England, or free space on the edge of the area. More importantly if on corners we had , had men on the posts, we would of gone in at halftime 0-0. Kante would be such a candidate, not tall but on percentages would block alot of balls on line, if/when needed. This means to me it needs some serious thinking and condideration...'What do we do at corners' #manager and coaches, midweek and prep talks # Huth ,Morgan or Kasper are the bosses they or one of them should organise their defense st corners or defensive free kicks ## It worries me hell of a lot, that this basic tactic, seems to be forgotten, and fans should be discussing it. City staff across the board, including the tea lady, should be making it a top 3 priority for next game. Again not forgetting, Southampton would not of scored yesterday, if we had had organisation at the back. The word stupid comes to mind because, we had the same problem in some games last season.
TJB-fox Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 In fairness we've generally defended adequately this year from set pieces
Sindidragon Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 Sort out our defending on set pieces please then we can win our away games.... Benaloune instead of Simpson will add some height at the back or even De Laet.... Plus don't rate Okazaki at the moment... Why not play Vardy with Ulloa up front
Sindidragon Posted 18 October 2015 Posted 18 October 2015 What worries me is its Palace next and they have got Ledley and Jedinak at set pieces.... We need to bolster up at the back
