Mahrez was out wide all game that's why he didn't work in the hole.

Would help if he actually played in the hole.

He was very much in the hole for the first 40 minutes, after which he went out wide, looked more of a threat and grabbed an assist.

What did help was that he assisted with the winner! :)

Got the goal and defended well enough even if it was a bit hit and hope at times. Don Claudio with more very intelligent strategy in what was a tricky fixture.

It was another superb result so I'm nit picking but I didn't think Mahrez in the hole worked at all well and Schlupp wasn't great again. Okazaki showed for me why he should be in the starting line up with a very combative display that helped to hold off their attacking momentum.

Drop Schlupp, play Mahrez on the wing and Okazaki up front and that will for me be our strongest team.

Which is basically the same time that has been leaking goals.

I liked how we started. I think they nullified Mahrez well, but it meant they were less of an attacking threat. We did well against a team that is similar to us.

Don't get me wrong, I like Okazaki. I think he will do well second have stretching the defence.

Disagree. First half he was in front of Vardy for first 20 mins, then he dropped behind Vardy for the rest of the half before switching to the wing.

To me, this shows how versatile our squad is, and using CRs tactics how we can unlock teams.

Brilliant stuff.

I have to say it wasn't the most exciting of matches but a win and clean sheet, I cannot complain at all.

Passing was excellent I must say.

Long may it continue!

There was only one Man of the Match today - manager Claudio Ranieri.

No, it wasn't perfect but the manager fashioned a win because he knew what was required to negate a talented team.

1) He stopped us giving away free kicks. It was only when Shinji came on and played on his arse and then the inevitable  problem of tiredness crept in, that Palace got a few free kicks and corners which enabled them to mount some pressure. Before that there was hardly any.

2) We also double banked down their left flank in particular but their attacking dangermen in general showing the unquestioned wisdom of playing Albrighton and Shlupp to assist in helping Simpson and Fuchs respectively thus adding to the foundations for a solid defence.

Tactically and for sheer effort I couldn't fault anyone but let no-one believe this was the best we could play because it wasn't. Fear played its part and to some extent helped the teams all but cancel one another out.

But the service to Vardy - apart from Mahrez's master pass - was appalling with so-called MoM Drinkwater as much to blame as anyone.

And quite why we continued trying to play floated crosses into the area when low skimmers offered the only realistic chance of reward I don't know.

I wouldn't even count Danny as the MoM runner-up because our full-backs Fuchs and Simpson were both instrumental in stiffling so much potential danger from Palace and reducing their clear-cut chances to virtually zero. And Kante had to rate 7.5 or 8 too.

Then there was Vardy. Somehow you knew he'd score because if you give him a challenge he faces it, overcomes it and comes away successful.

And that's what he did today. Mahrez fashioned our winning goal because he did the particular thing I've been praying he'd do - he delivered a one-touch pass when any delay would have been fatal. It really was a clever pass.

Vardy was on his toes to read the ball, one of only two decent chances he got all day, and how cleverly and ruthlessly he made Palace pay for their defensive calamity. Two chances, one goal! That's the mark of a master-striker.

Now to Drinkwater. I watched him closely and he got six marks straight away simply for the massive extent of his involvement both in defence and attack. One of his tackles may have been vital and come what may he refused either to hide or shirk anything.

My disappointment was in too many over ambitious passes which were easily intercepted when simpler no-risk passes were possible and might have left the opportunity for a more imaginative final pass instead of losing the ball far too easily at the edge of the front third and inviting pressure.

Don't worry people. I still rated the bloke a 7.5 overall but I'd have given eight to our full-backs and the same to Vardy because we wouldn't have had the three points if anyone but he'd been on the end of Mahrez' pass.

Kasper made a couple of decent saves, Huth had perhaps his best game this season which showed in the fact that he was so rarely troubled, Morgan huffed, puffed and came out top against whoever and Kante was Kante....if they could fashion him into a car battery it would re-define the phrase "long-life".

Schlupp did a slightly different job conscientiously while remaining a threat. He might have had a goal from a half chance and should have backed up Vardy when he stole the ball from their centre-back and presented a tap-in at the far post if anyone else had shown the same commitment for getting forward.

Mahrez should perhaps have scored from the Albrighton rebound or could have fed Schlupp with a sitter, but his assist for Vardy proved vital and that's what he's about - making things happen and it doesn't have to be many things in a 1-0 win.

Albrighton offered decent defensive support but almost entirely disappointed as an attacking threat by insisting on playing high balls when they should have been forgotten for the entire 90 minutes given the height of the Palace defenders.

Our substitutions did little.

Shinji made his presence felt but was a free-kick waiting to happen and Dyer didn't seem quite with it. In the last 10 minutes we forgot about passing our way to safety and just fell back to soak up whatever was thrown at us.

It did allow Palace to pour big men forward but we denied them room to jump or space to move into and this was the key to our survival.

As for the penalty shouts none looked convincing and any would have been either harsh or at least partially contrived. We won with an honest goal and damned well deserved it.

But Ranieri was the mastermind.

Pardew giving it bigun on post match interview saying CR was being unsporting and did not shake his hand then fired a quick 'they have to come to our place still'.....cockney willy puller

Haven't heard the Pardew interview but I knew he'd be an ungracious loser.

As others have said, Ranieri's got class and it comes through time and again.

Good solid grinding performance :)

The spine of the team were different class today. Huth & Morgan were pretty much dominant, could see how determined they were to keep a clean sheet. Drinkwater & Kante were excellent again, proper all round midfielders, such intelligent play from both, joy to watch at times. Finally Vardy got another goal and as per usual gave 100%.

Thought Palace would of been better, didn't have any clear cut chances and seemed to only have one plan and that was to lump it in the box.

Happy days, get the pizzas!

Absolutely buzzing for Vardy. Just can't stop scoring.

Fuchs, Kante and Drinkwater so good today, so much more comfortable with Fuchs at left back.

I think Mike Dean is an absolute joke of a referee most of the time and Pearson is evidently right about the arrogance thing but it was a very good spot the Zaha incident.

Pardew is still a willy puller by the way

Our crosses into the box are useless unless Ulloa is playing. Will be highlighted even more against Pulis team of centre backs next week.

need to mix our crossing game up a bit !! Apart from that we were very professional today!

Like the one dyer put in for vardy last week?

Love games like that. Solid defence overall except a couple of scares. Games like that really show we mean business this season.

Palace are a decent side although they weren't on top form, we did a good job.

Vardy is excellent! :D

Fuchs solid, Drinkwater and Kante impressive again, Vardy with a quality finish.

Not sure about Mahrez behind, he didn't have the work rate of Okozaki. Vardy looked like he needed a partner at times.

Away at West Brom we will be hitting them on the break so maybe the crossing issue won't be a problem

What a good goal from Vardy. The flick over the keeper was magnificent. Imagine if Aguero or Sanchez had done it?

did Palace have a chance today? As in a moment where their fans could say 'we should have scored there'

Did we apart from the goal? it was a pretty dull game where we thankfully got the chance and took it

Schmeichel did make one pretty decent save, but that was about it.

Great three points today. Fuchs, Simpson Kante and Drinkwater superb. The atmosphere was very good again today. So pleased for Vardy adding to his goal tally and making a record, good times for us.
