I think if you're horizontal by the time the contact comes you can't complain when you get booked for diving.

Posted

First we got a little lucky with, although it's a dive and the contact is minimal, second is a slip, handball is ball to hand, perfectly natural position. Only really a shout for the Zaha one

Danny Murphy is wrong. Fuchs' arms weren't unnatural for the thing he was trying to do which was volley it away. Your arms will be out to balance yourself.

Agree Brooksy none of em were pens, the pundits say Fuchs`s foot was up but it was on the floor by the time old Wilf threw himself through the air, Mike Dean saw it for exactly what it was, SIMULATION !!

Sorry but that handball is a penalty. Zaha's is borderline as well.

The handball is never a penalty in a million years.

It bounces up and hits his arm, he doesn't move it to the ball and it's a normal position to stabilise while going for the volley - Schlupp shows that a second later with the clearance. Would be ridiculously harsh to give it as a penalty, entirely accidental.

Inconclusive all of them. The handball looks the best shout but it was ball to hand and it still seemed to me that Zaha went looking for something to clip his foot against.

Zaha was staring at the ref as he went down, dive for me. Handball, although not intentional, looked a fair shout. Lucky to not have 1 of them go against us.

I will look for it, cheers firefox

Nah, go try some proper Chicago style. Try Lou Malnati's, Unos, or Giodano's (probably the best). Or Tortorice's if in the NW suburbs.

The Match of the Day coverage was absolutely embarrassing tonight. Instead of giving us credit on a deserved win they completely spun it to make Pardew and Palace look hard done by. Even showing Bamford falling over for no reason as if there was some sort of claim for a penalty.

I can accept the handball could have been given but the Zaha incident is one of the most obvious dives you'll ever see. I cannot believe people can watch that 5 or 6 times and feel sorry for him. It's almost as if in modern football it's a penalty to some people just because someone waves their leg out. If there is any contact it's extremely minimal and he throws himself down as if his feet have been taken away from under him.

And shame on anyone on here who thinks we were lucky there. Forget any bias, If we'd have been given a penalty for that I'd think it was a shocking decision.

I found it disgusting that the commentator somehow tried to justify absurd claims because they were one down with 3 minutes left to play - like that makes a jot of difference

If it's ball to hand then it's not a penalty, simple as.

Danny Murphy may be a pundit but he doesn't know the basic rules of the game.

He is completely wrong when he says "by the letter of the law if your hand's in an unnatural position it's a penalty - it doesn't matter whether it's accidental or on purpose".

The rules state a handball HAS to be deliberate. The "unnatural position" thing is completely misinterpreted by pundits. All the rules say about "unnatural position" is that it can be a good indicator to a referee whether it's deliberate or not, as obviously if they are in a natural position then it's almost certainly accidental. However that DOES NOT mean that if it's in an unnatural position it's necessarily deliberate - you can clearly move you arm out for other reasons and the ball just hits it. But Fuchs clearly does not deliberately handle the ball which is the ONLY thing that matters - the natural/unnatural position thing is just a suggestion to help referees decide whether it is deliberate or not, is has absolutely nothing to do with the actual handball rule though.

The Zaha one was a shout, but the handball was never a pen in a million years. And how you can be a pundit on MOTD and not even know the basic rules when they take 20 seconds to ctrl+f on the FIFA website is beyond me. Surely reading the full rules of the game should be a pretty basic requirement of the job?

You're right of course, but referees do not follow the rules of the game. Penalties are not only given for deliberate handballs. They're often given if someone's hands are away from their body. Very, very few handballs are actually deliberate and referees know this. Most of the time they give them if the arm is away from the body (an unnatural position if you like) and has stopped a potential goal.

Sorry but by far the worse piece of punditry was saying the Zaha one wasn't a dive. Utterly embarrassing that they comment on football for a living.

There were no penalties...City won 1-0 Thats it !!!

Unlike many TMOs in Rugby, few Camara angles prove Fouls or penalties in football.

Bias still runs deep. If they had been ourside of the fence, we would be complaining if they werent giving arguing the toss why they should of been.

Next week, migzt becRanieris time to complain about descisions.

Whats important, we wont fail or succeed because of negative descisions.

We are 6 pts above mid-table, thats what counts for me.

Referees can do what they see fit,...swings n roundabouts is my stance.

When I see our players smiling, with pizzas in their eyes, instead egg on their faces, I am an happy bunny..

I can't disagree with any of that, zaha's dive was embarrassing. We out thought and out fought them.
