Juvenile Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 And I can only presume Zaha wasn't starting for the same reason Mahrez hasn't for us. Odd decision to leave him benched.
Babylon Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Disagree. Still see him as a 'relative' real weak link and the last 20minutes palace tried to exploit it. Does not release the ball quick enough and the reason why albrighton struggled to get into the game at times. Undoubtedly gives his all and credit to him for that. But of limited ability compared to the rest of them. Which just shows how far we have moved on. Suppose it doesn't help him that the full back on the left is Fuch'n world class.Plop blaming him for Albrighton. Was very steady today, in fact more than that.
Number 6 Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 55/1 to be relegated. 5/1 to finish top 6. Loving this season.
Filbert_Ross Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Where's that thread gone where that chump Was saying 1 point from next 3 games?
fleckneymike Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 I felt Palace came hoping we'd help them win, we played hoping they'd stick to counter attacks and both teams subsequently didn't do too much attacking. We were happy to cross from very very deep in order to avoid getting caught up field, they were happy to let us do that. Having said that it was a thoroughly enjoyable scrap.
Babylon Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Some dick of a city fan on their forum saying other then arsenal they are the best we've faced since arsenal. What game are they watching. Thought they were the least adventurous and boring since, well the last time we played them.

Thought they were the least adventurous and boring since, well the last time we played them. Spurs offered nothing to be fair. But you're right, actually they offered a similar amount to last time, except last time they were fortunate to walk off with 3 points in what was considered a "perfect away performance". This time they played in a very similar style and got beaten. Fine margins...
bovril Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Fuchs looks nothing like a footballer Doesn't sound like one, either. English is far too good.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Schlupp could barley walk let alone run last 15. And yet he managed a surging run in the 90th minute, so either he found some unbelievable reserves or energy or he just wasn't switched on properly for a period in the second half. I don't think you can look at Schlupp's work rate as if he's a normal human being because he just isn't. I'm not sure he was tired as such, more that he was off on Planet Jeff today as he is probably 1 in every 4 matches. Perhaps I'm being harsh and he was genuinely exhausted and then managed to roast the right back in the 90th minute, but to me it looked like he was lacking focus for a lot of the game today.
Corky Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Cracking win, wasn't the best game you'll ever see but it was close and felt our tactics were excellent. The CM pairing in particular had tremendous games. And that boy Vardy does it again. He does score when he wants and he's showing excellent composure in front of goal. Deserved win, clean sheet and the type of game we're now winning instead of losing. Beautiful.
Bayfox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Not the best of games. But another well deserved 3 points. As an aside for all the problems we seem to have, rdl,Simpson, King, inler an as yet unfit James. 4 wingers, 3 strikers who can't get a game and yet we are 5th. Anyone think palace have the opposite problem Zaha, sako, bolasie, puncheon all the same player.

Generally people that find the need to go onto opposition forums, sign up and then suck them off are pretty lonely people anyway. Probably didn't even go to the game. Obviously that doesn't apply to everyone, but a certain majority.
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Could not agree more. Great post. Completely saw the game as I did. Full marks. At least their are two geniuses on here. . Great job mate There was only one Man of the Match today - manager Claudio Ranieri. No, it wasn't perfect but the manager fashioned a win because he knew what was required to negate a talented team. 1) He stopped us giving away free kicks. It was only when Shinji came on and played on his arse and then the inevitable problem of tiredness crept in, that Palace got a few free kicks and corners which enabled them to mount some pressure. Before that there was hardly any. 2) We also double banked down their left flank in particular but their attacking dangermen in general showing the unquestioned wisdom of playing Albrighton and Shlupp to assist in helping Simpson and Fuchs respectively thus adding to the foundations for a solid defence. Tactically and for sheer effort I couldn't fault anyone but let no-one believe this was the best we could play because it wasn't. Fear played its part and to some extent helped the teams all but cancel one another out. But the service to Vardy - apart from Mahrez's master pass - was appalling with so-called MoM Drinkwater as much to blame as anyone. And quite why we continued trying to play floated crosses into the area when low skimmers offered the only realistic chance of reward I don't know. I wouldn't even count Danny as the MoM runner-up because our full-backs Fuchs and Simpson were both instrumental in stiffling so much potential danger from Palace and reducing their clear-cut chances to virtually zero. And Kante had to rate 7.5 or 8 too. Then there was Vardy. Somehow you knew he'd score because if you give him a challenge he faces it, overcomes it and comes away successful. And that's what he did today. Mahrez fashioned our winning goal because he did the particular thing I've been praying he'd do - he delivered a one-touch pass when any delay would have been fatal. It really was a clever pass. Vardy was on his toes to read the ball, one of only two decent chances he got all day, and how cleverly and ruthlessly he made Palace pay for their defensive calamity. Two chances, one goal! That's the mark of a master-striker. Now to Drinkwater. I watched him closely and he got six marks straight away simply for the massive extent of his involvement both in defence and attack. One of his tackles may have been vital and come what may he refused either to hide or shirk anything. My disappointment was in too many over ambitious passes which were easily intercepted when simpler no-risk passes were possible and might have left the opportunity for a more imaginative final pass instead of losing the ball far too easily at the edge of the front third and inviting pressure. Don't worry people. I still rated the bloke a 7.5 overall but I'd have given eight to our full-backs and the same to Vardy because we wouldn't have had the three points if anyone but he'd been on the end of Mahrez' pass. Kasper made a couple of decent saves, Huth had perhaps his best game this season which showed in the fact that he was so rarely troubled, Morgan huffed, puffed and came out top against whoever and Kante was Kante....if they could fashion him into a car battery it would re-define the phrase "long-life". Schlupp did a slightly different job conscientiously while remaining a threat. He might have had a goal from a half chance and should have backed up Vardy when he stole the ball from their centre-back and presented a tap-in at the far post if anyone else had shown the same commitment for getting forward. Mahrez should perhaps have scored from the Albrighton rebound or could have fed Schlupp with a sitter, but his assist for Vardy proved vital and that's what he's about - making things happen and it doesn't have to be many things in a 1-0 win. Albrighton offered decent defensive support but almost entirely disappointed as an attacking threat by insisting on playing high balls when they should have been forgotten for the entire 90 minutes given the height of the Palace defenders. Our substitutions did little. Shinji made his presence felt but was a free-kick waiting to happen and Dyer didn't seem quite with it. In the last 10 minutes we forgot about passing our way to safety and just fell back to soak up whatever was thrown at us. It did allow Palace to pour big men forward but we denied them room to jump or space to move into and this was the key to our survival. As for the penalty shouts none looked convincing and any would have been either harsh or at least partially contrived. We won with an honest goal and damned well deserved it. But Ranieri was the mastermind.
Larry_LCFC Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Vardys post match on interview is brilliant. Wondered what the crowd were getting all hectic about at the end and then looked over at CR and saw him acting like a caged animal Shows just how high morale currently is. Such a great feeling around us right now.
Frost Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Thought the game was actually pretty poor in terms of quality, though I'm just glad we won a game that for the most part last season we would've lost - Vardy's composure for his goal was excellent too. Thought Palace had no options upfront/final third and Hangeland was disaster waiting to happen from the point where Vardy nicked the ball off him fairly early in the first half. Oh, and it was confusing to see Schlupp upfront, tinkering at its finest. But overall, pleased we've got the 3 points and finally a clean sheet. To not be at your best and win is a positive, battled for the win but thought Fuchs could've given away 2 penalties in the last 10 minutes. A truly remarkable start to the season, up the City.
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 That was brilliant. Vardy chipped Hennessey and Kram broke a tooth
Dr The Singh Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Every week so far humble pie for the pundits. How many of you have or are eating Pizzas tonight... Dr The Singh Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Bit surprised no ones mentioned Simpson. Not the best player on the pitch but a great performance today against a tricky opponent.Danny your doing OK, now don't push it with people expecting to applaud you aswell

RowlattsFox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Slightly fortunate with the pen decisions, we'd be screaming for them I reckon.
Corky Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Slightly fortunate with the pen decisions, we'd be screaming for them I reckon. The first one I think so, the second Bamford slipped and the third was unintentional.
