Bournemouth at home... Up next.

Is it that tidy? If Roma want him out then he can't be that good, can he?

Maybe not at Roma, but he might add that missing forward spark for Bournemouth.

And it's only on loan, anyway. If he fails, they part ways again comes May.

Bournemouth have Christian Atsu on loan but he has only played two cup games. He was supposed to be the fast, skilful player to take them to the next level.  Iturbe hasn't done much, I bet he'll score a wonder goal then drift off and struggle with their work rate.  He'll probably play on the LW or attacking Mid as Ritchie is quality for them on the right.

It's not going to be a walkover by any stretch of the imagination, in fact I think Bournemouth will come and make it tricky for us. They will definitely come at us.

1-0 Leicester.

I think the next time we see Kramaric get any meaningful game time it'll be in the FA cup. He's not had too many chances to impress but he hasn't looked at all convincing when he has played. Shinji and Leo both have a fair greater claim for a place on the starting 11.

I'm glad we're playing them now. Their manager seems very much a forward thinker to me and I think they may do us the world of good in their remaining fixtures cos I quite expect them to climb the table and finish somewhere close to halfway.

Our first task will be to match them for effort and commitment. With Schlupp missing our pace potential will be severely reduced and I wouldn't be surprised if the gaffer goes for another well contained spoiling job simply because our armoury's a bit limited til we get some new signings in and, hopefully, a couple with pace and some shooting power.   .

We have one of the fastest teams in the league even without Schlupp. In our last 8 games Schlupp has played just over an hour's football and we've taken 17/24 points...

And we've done a lot more than just a "spoiling job" in that time.

Bournemouth are decent but nothing that requires the level of defensive-mindedness we have employed against Man City, Liverpool etc...

This post makes absolutely no sense. What are you on about lad?

Got to agree with the others Thracian, this makes little sense. Our first choice squad that has got us into this position should be fit tomorrow against a side that has been struggling for most of the season. Not pushovers by any means but nothing to fear. Schlupp isn't a huge loss.

I'm just hoping for a good performance. Even though we won at Everton, we didn't play very well, then at Liverpool we looked horrible. Then we tried changing to  counter Man City, but it just doesn't play to our strengths. Stick to our normal high energy game and we will have too much for Bournemouth. Anything less than a win will be disappointing.

With the festive season and the first tough run of fixtures out of the way we're back to business as usual and I, for one, am giddy with anticipation about our prospects in 2016.

Really hope we kick the year off with a strong winning performance today. Bournemouth are no mugs but having played everyone once we're joint top of the league on merit, and should be confident of getting the three points.

Come on you blues!!!

I seem to remember us trying to do a bit of a spoiling job in the away game because of them being a possession team.

1-1

Our run is over.

We take the lead, they equalise around half time and we never quite get going.

Wheels coming off...........

You're right - and we only succeeded in spoiling our own game.

Okay - I'll try to explain more clearly.

a) Bournemouth are an improving side. As their injuries clear and new faces come in they'll become a tougher challlenge and I hope we will benefit from playing them before they've reached a peak for the season. As they do they may well take points off our potential rivals.

b) We're scoring fewer goals now and not playing anything like such exciting football because we can't. The opposition has been good but, more than that, we've lost the raw pace that disturbed people because Vardy is less than fully fit now and the always steady Albrighton really doesn't have the destructive pace of Schlupp.

Our approach now is much more considered, we don't have even the chance of streaming waves of players into the box because where, once, Schlupp, Vardy and Mahrez represented a potent force of three going on five in terms of value we've now got a suffering Vardy and no Schlupp so a goals threat worth maybe half what it was.

Opponents also know now that Shinji's withdrawn into midfield much or the time he plays, Drinkwater's been injured and is no goals threat at all, DeLaet's supportive pace on the right has gone (for all that we now have a better defender in his place), Dyer is hardly used, King's become a periphery part-timer whose once considerable goal threat is a distant memory and Inler hardly looks likely to be more than a very occasional scorer.

It's early days but we're gradually being changed into an Italianate team which doesn't concede much and tries to pinch a goal. In other words we commit more to defence than attack.

You speak as if two games are a trend, Thracian; prior to them, we were scoring freely (three away goals in four successive games), and given the context of those two games, I don't think a couple of blanks is a concern.

Tough fixture, despite what some might say. Looking forward to it. Bournemouth have some attacking talent and fight in them so it won't be easy.

I believe that we are a better, more experienced outfit at the minute and should be looking to close this game out. Especially if we want a European spot. Hopefully they will have a go today so we can counter attack.

Wouldn't write them off though, hopefully they stay up this year, dislodge some of the dillisusional so called "big" clubs like Villa and Sunderland

Got to agree. Play our game and we win. Try to adapt to theirs and we don't. We should just do what we do and let them worry about us.

Howe is an astute guy. He will see how Liverpool pressed and badgered us into utter dogger.

We should win this. But that doesn't mean we will.

Thracian - is Schlupp the new King?

Our team is fast all over the park where it counts. Schlupp is great to bring on, he's not the holy grail of the team though.

A side that can play interesting football.

Need to keep Kermogant quiet; would be quite embarrassing if he scores.

I think Ranieri should mix it up a bit this match and use Kramaric and Inler from the start. We have relied on the same players and same style for a long time now. It has been successful so I'm not criticizing, but players will need resting and we need to develop some new dimensions to our game otherwise it will be a case of diminishing returns as other teams work out how to play us. Best to tinker now rather than wait until we hit a bad patch.

100% agree. I'm sure all the other teams have been studying our team over and over and eventually they will work out how to play against us (or maybe they have, haven't scored in 2 games). We need to surprise the opposition by mixing it up frequently and also involving the other players who can make some noise if one of our main squad gets injured.

Ranieri can be too predictable on who he will play and sub where. The only time I was surprised was Inler for Man city which worked reasonably well
