Matt Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Not had a problem with Mahrez, or his run up, people have only mention his run up today - They didn't moan when he was scoring them. That said his run up today was abit of a joke and he does need to stop it - Ok on the odd time but mix it up abit, it's getting predictable.

StanSP Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Wonder what the thoughts were when Mahrez scored twice from the spot against Everton . One of those was about as perfectly placed as you can get. So he missed one. Ronaldo missed a penalty the other day too. Best penalty-takers in the world have all missed penalties. It happens. I'm confident when he steps up for penalties. Most confident I've been since Gallagher. As for 'official penalty taker'. It's quite obviously Mahrez and he quite obviously only gave it to Vardy against Watford for the record. No doubts for me who is the official penalty taker.

His body shape and everything is wrong, you know which was he is going to go, so when he stutters (and it's not even like it's 1 in 10 - he stutters every single time) he only has one was to go.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Nugent was an awful penalty taker. Any pressure penalty he'd miss it. Not too much wrong with Mahrez's style in the sense that he gets them on target but people are right that no keeper has yet fallen for his stutter and he needs a bit more variety as keepers do their homework these days. He's put a disproportionate number of kicks the same way that even just down the middle would have been less predictable today.

You have a penalty taker who just smashes it down the middle even if the keeper stands up to it, it has to much power for him.

Give me the laces approach every time. Of course, I don't like it when we miss, but properly testing the goalkeeper should be the bare minimum. Vardy all the way for me.
sdb Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Nugget never oozed confidence to me! I think we've 2 good pen takers. No big issue for me. That said - Mahrez never looked right today. I had a bad feeling as soon as he grabbed the ball.

People aren't comfortable unless someone is running up at full speed, smashing the ball as hard as they can. People seem to be forgetting the TWO class penalties Mahrez took against Everton. And the numerous others he's tucked in the corner this season. One fvcking miss and he's the new Kermorgant .
