foxes_rule1978 Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Hmm, goal drought means we aren't scoring goals? Yes but it is the manner that is important, it isn't like we aren't creating enough, we clearly have done that
Countryfox Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 No one think vardy and Mahrez look a little burnt out then?.... And if they are our ONLY goal threat? I do. We need other players to start getting a few goals ... Ulloa/Okazaki, DD, Kante, Albrighton, Huth/Morgan (from corners) .... We just can't keep relying on JV and RM cus as you say they do look a little burnt out, which is hardly surprising since the shift they have been putting in since the start of the great escape.
sdb Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Liverpool - off day Man City - tough game Today - unlucky with a few chances I'm not overly concerned - we are creating chances.
Izzy Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 well actually shooting might be a start We had 16 shots today
Jimmy Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 We had 16 shots today yes but how many did they pass up to pass the ball sideways to try and walk the ball in, as soon as we are within 25-30 yards from goal every player should be looking to see if they can shoot but only Kante is willing to try it, when you're willing to shoot from there they have to close you down which in turn opens up passing chances
Lionator Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 I think hoofball is a bit harsh but I certainly think we're starting to believe the media tag of us being a counter-attacking team in the sense that we look clueless when it comes to breaking teams down conventionally.
sdb Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 What frustrated me slightly was we worked the channels way more second half when Ulloa was off the pitch. I know they played very narrow second half but our best chances almost always come through the middle.
Father Ted Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Pressing high up the pitch rather than let teams pass it around their back 4 and into midfield would help
Bamba's Babes Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Ulloa is a donkey. Okazaki rolls around more than sushi. Kramaric has committed a crime which we'll never understand. Don't sign a forward and top 6 will be a distant memory.
TheStig Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Hopefully this is our mini crisis period that all teams get. Draws from playing badly is i guess OK.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Give the lads a few games to get their stamina back, they have been outstanding and played out their skins for 18 games once that happens we will be firing again I don't think it's that - it's fear of taking risks or making mistakes. Passing the buck if you like. Our close passing has virtually disappeared and there's very little that's unpredictable either. Last 20 minutes I was looking for more off-the-ball and perhaps a few dummy stepovers that might let in a late runner but no ... everything was right out of the coaching manual and so easily anticipated. If we're not going to use King for any great purpose any more we need a new athletic version of the bloke - a fast pass-and-move footballer with the imagination to pick a pass and get back on the end for a shot. Drinkwater does none of that and neither does Shinji.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 yes but how many did they pass up to pass the ball sideways to try and walk the ball in, as soon as we are within 25-30 yards from goal every player should be looking to see if they can shoot but only Kante is willing to try it, when you're willing to shoot from there they have to close you down which in turn opens up passing chances We tried to work the channels but had no-one quick or elusive enough to actually get past players and draw people out of position. Consequently the organised Bournemouth defence were asked only simple questions and never forced to make difficult decisions. Dyer was clearly expected to try but, once again, he looked like a lightweight in a heavyweight fight - right out of his depth.
4everfox Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Sign a tall, powerhouse striker to get on the end of all these crosses that we send into the box. Vardy and Okazaki are not tall and are poor aerially, Ulloa is just Ulloa and needs upgrading. I'd like Arkadiusz Milik or someone like that.
hejammy Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 This is the problem, in Albrighton we have a great crosser of the ball, however we are terrible at heading the ball, we're terrible at set peices also, therefore Fuchs special throw is also ineffective. We need to play the ball to feet more often, Vardy is best running through the middle, every corner we try the same thing, which usually amounts to the keeper catching the ball. Ulloa was supposed to be our aerial threat but failed miserably at that. Back to basics and play the fast paced football through the middle which we are great at.
jaqo88 Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 We seem to put in a load of crosses, but we simply do not have anyone with height up front! Pumping balls in towards Vardy, Okazaki and a 5"5' Dyer will result in a goal very rarely. We either need to put Ulloa on at the end of games when we need a goal or attempt a lot of drilled crosses instead.
drofmor56 Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Vardy unlucky not to score (hit the inside of the post), and probably should have scored against MCity when through? Mahrez missing penalty....i dont think it will be long before they are on the scoresheet again BUT...no matter how much work/interceptions Drinkwater/Albrighton do,they need to be scoring a few goals between them. Its making it easier for opposing teams to counter our attacking play knowing they they have nothing to fear from our midfield..Cambiasso/Schlupp added the occasional goal last season but this season i can only remember the soft goal Kante scored against Watford. His ability to score 5 or 6 goals a season Is what made Muzzy Izzet such a good player for us
Jimmy Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 It's like they all listens to the press about lumping it to Vardy we seem to be playing less
Nick Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Cheque books out please owners. If you want CL it's the only way it's gonna happen.
deep blue Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I think hoofball is a bit harsh but I certainly think we're starting to believe the media tag of us being a counter-attacking team in the sense that we look clueless when it comes to breaking teams down conventionally. I think there's some truth in this. We seem to cede the ball from the off, sit back to soak up the pressure, and rely on a hoof upfield as soon as we (eventually) get a touch of the ball. Earlier in the season we were pressing them from the front and taking it to them. When they attacked and it broke down we countered quickly, with sweeping accurate passes at ground level, cutting defences apart. Even when Kante intercepted in midfield yesterday we didn't appear to be looking for a speedy counter with a forward pass but fiddlied around and slowed it down. Granted we still created enough clear-cut chances to win it, but I thought that our attacking play in general looked unconvincing and uninventive. It has to be said, though, that Man C and Arsenal also had an off day, but had the rub of the green while we didn't.
jon1bc Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Other than the main two, no one else in the team is a threat in front of goal. Ulloa had a massive chance early doors when he was put through but his heavy touch let him down which typifies him and despite clearly putting the effort in, Okazaki just seems to run around
theessexfox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 We're still getting chances, it'd be more worrying if it was like the 0-0 vs Hull last year and we don't look a threat at all. Yesterday was an off day and we still had a penalty, hit the post, forced a couple of good saves.
Bayfox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 We had 16 shots today 2 of which actually classed as on target and one of those was a powder puff penalty. Vardy couldn't miss 6 weeks ago, that one that hits the post goes in 6 weeks ago. Now if he doesn't take his one chance we are struggling. We need to help him and ryhiad out. Which means getting the cheque book out. Or playing to Leo's strengths again we are set up to play on the counter so much it is starting to get worked out.
theessexfox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I am becoming less and less convinced by our back up strikers - Ulloa is never going to be a great fit for our system, Okazaki is still yet to impress and Kramaric clearly hasn't shown enough in training to suggest he can do the job.
