NewEnglandFox Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 We're in the draw. Who do you fancy? This will effect the lineup next week against Spurs. Aus Fox Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Liverpool or Exeter at home. Liverpool clearly aren't taking the Como seriously. Hopefully get past Spurs in the reply and then knock Liverpool out. We only have a maximum of 14 Prem teams left in the cup. WBA, Villa and Liverpool all facing replays. We could have a chance, would like to see a couple of the big boys take each other out.
Corky Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Don't think anyone could question our commitment and appetite today.
ozleicester Posted 10 January 2016 Author Posted 10 January 2016 So, by playing a "weakened" side, we have bought ourselves ANOTHER game. Not sure how that resting theory is playing out.
Benguin Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 If we get a good draw we should put our best 11 out imo for the replay
weller54 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 An easy draw please.. Eastleigh or villa will do!
Fox92 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Leeds away. Haven't been Elland Road since we won 1-2 through Naughton and Howard. If we end up drawing Manchester City away then I'm not bothered if we lose the replay but atm it should be taken serious. I'd rather win the FA Cup than finish top 4.
foxfanazer Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 So, by playing a "weakened" side, we have bought ourselves ANOTHER game. Not sure how that resting theory is playing out.but it's another game for the fringe players to play. Think we learned some valuable things from that selection yesterday. Give them a chance in the home tie
Corky Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 So, by playing a "weakened" side, we have bought ourselves ANOTHER game. Not sure how that resting theory is playing out. We've shown we don't need to throw Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Morgan, Fuchs etc straight back in to give us a chance in the replay. The side that played yesterday looked competent enough.
lgfualol Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 If we get through I would love a lower league team, but I bet it is either Watford, Man Utd or Man City.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Not that interested in getting exciting ties, I want a lower league side at home. Lets win the cvnt.
chrishlcfc Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Want an easy game to try and get as far as possible in the competition. Man Utd home or away will do.
Jordan Posted 12 January 2016 Posted 12 January 2016 Ugh. I see this nonsense all the time. For Wigan fans it was the proudest moment in a pretty dismal history, which is there in the record books forever, not to mention their fans' memories of that day which will last a lifetime. Winning trophies is what football's all about and we've never won this one. Time to stop acting like it's something we can do without in our trophy cabinet. When Leicester entered the tournament, there were 64 teams. Obviously Leicester are going to be stronger than most of them, but they'd still have to have some good fortune in games and in the draw to last through six knockout rounds and win it. It would be nice for Leicester to win the FA Cup, nobody can really deny that even if they have different priorities for success. But probabilistically speaking, it's almost impossible to go out and say from the Third Round that you're out to win the FA Cup, and if our squad needs rest/medical treatment/rotation, it's much more sensible to use Cup ties than League fixtures for this (considering not just what's at stake, but the chances of success in either competition).Wigan started the road to their "proudest moment" by making 9 changes to their starting lineup from their last league in their Third Round tie against Bournemouth (and played to a draw, so they were saddled with a replay, to boot). Roberto Martinez had to keep a straight face somehow when he said some bullshit about how he really did respect the competition. He would have had a completely different mindset than you when he picked his squad for that game, yet in the end, he won the Cup. We just have to take it round by round.
