LanguedocFox Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 My cousin was the Leicester mascot today, got to go into the changing rooms and meet all the players who were lovely, all took time to speak to him, have a picture, sign his shirt - Wes, Ulloa, Schmeichel and Vardy were apparently really nice. Spurs looked after him very well and he had a great day. Thought we had a superb away end today, 90 minutes of singing and support, we were never going to have much possession but we were clinical and eventually robbed, disappointing to have another game on the schedule but a good day out. Watched it on the BBC of course and it sounded at times like a home game. How many City fans did we have there, FFS! Incidentally, Jonathan Pearce was a complete knob of a commentator, kept going on about how he had Spurs as a banker to win the Cup, and how City have peaked already - at least until we were in front. He also thought it was a stonewall penalty, unlike anyone in the studio. Lawrenson's secret lovechild.
Lionator Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 For me, the whole point is that the ultimate decision is taken out of the refs hands and given to the fourth official/TMO (or whatever we call him) in these rare but crucial instances - the guy who has the benefit of seeing the replays from numerous angles. Today, it appeared that the ref didn't have a clear view, and made his mind up based on whatever influences. By referring it to another member of the 'officiating team', at least we've got a better chance of the 'correct' decision being made. I'd quite happily wait 90 seconds for justice to be delivered instead of spending that time watching players surrounding the ref and screaming in his face. What is justice though? Video technology for decisions like that is absolutely no help whatsoever as there's always that element of doubt. For us as Leicester fans, it's 100% not a penalty. Spurs fans will think it 100% was a penalty. Neutrals will probably be 70-30 in our favour at best. Therefore at least 30% of people are going to say it's wrong decision despite what the TMO would think. It's exactly the same as the Bournemouth incident last week. Video technology for black and white incidents like offsides and goaline, yes. Decisions like today, no thank you.
Webbo Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 I agree with Webbo. Claudio says "if the ref says it's a penalty, then it's a penalty" and no one calls him a troll. Webbo's basically Claudio's spokesman on this matter. Respect Webbo, respect Claudio, show some dignity, and move on. Only in an unofficial capacity. Thanks anyway.

Today, the TMO would have been the expert in the laws of the game and their interpretation - not us, the Spurs fans or neutrals. Ultimately someone has to make a decision, and I'd rather it was the guy who had the benefit of TV replays and not the ref who is 30 yards away with no clear sight of the incident. If the laws are clear (which I hope they are after 150 years) why should there be an element of doubt? There doesn't seem to be much element of doubt in cricket, rugby or tennis, where the TMO decision stands and they get on with it.
Phube Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 What Claudio said was true; It was a penalty! But you can tell he, like 99% of non-Spurs fans and Webbo, thought that it shouldn't have been given!
steveherbe Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Just got back, nightmare journey, and minus one Turkish Delight flag robbed by a scummy female City fan, unbelievable. Anyway, great display from the lads, Was and Benny brilliant, as was Chilwell. Inler was majestic, like watching Cambiasso. King back to his best, Okazaki and Ulloa very good - who needs Vardy? Gray promising, Albrighton very good. Dyer, get him back to Swansea asap and play Gray instead.

If it turns up at any game I get it will get taken back. ****ing disgrace our fans at times.

Did he really do anything worth noting other than maybe one or two runs? He wasn't really given any service in all fairness, but he seems to have an inability to create his own chances. Incredibly slow.

fuchsntf Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 IMO Its great, the penalty allows us to embarrass, spurs once again.

Video technology has a place in slow paced sports, but it would totally utterly completely ruin football. The refs make mistakes, it's not deliberate and lets be honest we only remember the ones that go against us. It's the same for any fan of any team and for me it's a big part of why the game is talked about so much. There are very few of us that really know the rules 100% and there are a lot of grey areas anyway. Goal line technology is fine, but no more please.
whoareyaaa Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Was that the same ref that gave that other NON peno at Anfield last season and the 2nd peno that wasn't, complete bellend ruined the game shouldn't be aloud to ref again blatent match fix. on the other hand a brilliant performance from the team especially second half we dominated them, Great goal from Okazaki and he played well when he came on, Ulloa had a good game too and looked up for it, Inler had a solid game along with King and the back 4 did what they needed to. our fans where fantastic!!!!
glenelgfox Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Ulloa is very frustrating to watch. He doesn't show enough urgency, falls over too easily amd when in good positions to pass and set up team mates he gets caught in possession more often than not. Okazaki had a reasonable game but again his first touch lets him down more often than not and he is lightweight re keeping his feet. I still think we need another strong goalscoring striker in this window. The rest of the positions have good coverage. Inler showed some class and composure and you can see why he was a summer target. Benny was very good and again I can see why he was bought in also. I was impressed with Chilwell and we need to hang onto to him. Equally Gray did well for a first up game and it being away. RDL shocking first half but a large part of that was the fact Dyer provided him with no cover what so ever. His second half was much better. Earlier in the season I thought Dyer was a bargain pickup but his last 2 games are as bad as I have seen from a supposed PL quality and experienced player. He doesn't look interested and plays lazy with his complete lack of attention in the main for defensive cover. Pissed off with that dreadful penalty decision as it not only cost a win but I lost $200.00 as I had us 2-1 winners with 1-1 halftime score and Okaxaki anytime scorer. I still won $50 re Shinji scoring though.
Dan Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 5 in a row against us? They didn't get a peno in the 1-1 draw in August nor in the league game at KP last season? Or do you mean away from home? I mean penalty decisions for either side.
st albans fox Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 That was Jones at anfield Madley screwed up at both WHL and Ethaad re krama Wonder if there was video technology that the pen would have been left as 'referees decision ' (bit like cricket LBW's) no one can be 100 % certain that dyer didn't flick his arm at the ball though I think he was just trying to block the man

I wouldn't call Rugby Union or Tennis 'slow paced sports'. Yes, these decisions are talked about so much, but I'd rather we/the media spent time talking about the football rather than the decisions. As the game continues to get faster, these refereeing mistakes will only increase - and why should we accept constant mistakes in a billion pound industry anyway? We need to help refs, and the technology is there to support them. We can't keep resisting change and progress - and I'm an old skool traditionalist...

Rugby and tennis by comparison are much slower (as in not continuous) sports then football. If the day comes when a microphone wearing ref waits around asking someone else who's watching a TV what he should do, will be the last game I ever watch.
orangecity23 Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Madley is also the ref who missed Pantillimon catching the ball 10 yards out of his area in the first match of this season. Strange how he couldn't see that handball right in front of him, yet his eagle eyes managed to see this one straight through the backs of Dyer and Rose.
PAULCFC Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 The Guardian gave RDL man of the match. I'd have to agree with that. When you have Dyer in front of you(he really has to get better at defending)RDL had a right good game imo.
Phube Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Even Kilbane has admitted he misjudged it! Only Jonathan Pierce to go!

If the day comes when a microphone wearing ref waits around asking someone else who's watching a TV what he should do, will be the last game I ever watch. Nads, whether me or you like it or not, I suggest it's inevitable in our lifetime. Football isn't 'continuous' anyway - that's why we have 2-5 mins added on to each half every game. Throw ins, goal kicks, free kicks, subs, time wasting - it's stop/start like any other sport. The refs are miked up to the linos these days anyway. All I'm suggesting is they're also miked up to a ref with a monitor in the stands who has a better view, and can make the correct call on the rare key decisions like penos and sendings off which can change a game.
Thracian Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 DeLaet made a few too many errors to be MoM but should get some credit for helping to make our first goal. It seemed to be a training ground move. Excellent delivery and DeLaet too one defender right out of Wesyl's line of sight at the near post. Meanwhile King edged his man away from the far post leaving loads of space for the header to find the net. For all Simpson's competence as a defender I think we've missed DeLaet's pace and backing going forward. He's not the greatest positionally and is a bit rash with his back up at times but he does need coping with and if he could work still harder on the accuracy and variety of his crosses he could be another to make a major improvement.

I don't know what that is, but it sounds illegal! As for the technology, my fear is once it starts it will cause more problems and then they could start showing ads while they are making a decision. I think it's better how it is, warts an all. You're right about throw-ins! There needs to be a rule, so the nearest player takes the throw-in.
Dan Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Does make you wonder with Madley given he's got that many wrong against us. That's a ridiculous record. Both this, the Spurs cup game last year, the Sunderland shambles (one of the most blatant handballs and red cards I can remember), the absolute scandal at Man City last year. That's quite some record really. Anyway I don't want to bang on about cvnts any longer as they're polluting an otherwise good day. 8 changes away at a Spurs side who played Eriksen (who in my opinion is their best player), Alderweireld, Rose, Son and brought on Alli and Kane, and were very, very unlucky to not win the game. They'll fawn themselves over their possession stats but how many times did they genuinely threaten us? We defend very deep but we are so well organised. Their goals have come from a goalkeeping error and a non-penalty. Tactically we are spot on. This is without Vardy and Mahrez, and with two teenagers down the left - who were both excellent. We are as good as I remember us. Today's game has given me a real boost. I actually think we can win on Wednesday and I think we can get to the 4th round too. They were nothing special what so ever and looked absolutely clueless.
