Villa away post match 1-1

On one hand, another point towards securing top 3 or top 4, which is great. On the other hand, it's been a dreadful month of football from the squad.

Before, we could believe: this team could genuinely score a goal at any moment. It's still somewhat there, but it's more of a prayer than a certainty.

Awful performance to be honest. Not hard to see why we have the worst passing accuracy in the league, so so many misplaced.

Lacking confidence in front of goal. Losing patience with Ulloa, been an absolute donkey most of the season. Mahrez needs a clip round the ear. Said we should have benched him today and I feel justified in that.

I think we need to spend some money, we are getting a bit stale here.

WTF was the De Laet substitution about? Shocking decision. Oka was our best player and he was putting the most effort in.

Our league position is due to past results, not future ones. Saying that we won't win the league or finish top 4 playing like we did today is a fairly safe statement lol The sanctimony of people on here is breathtaking sometimes. Why do you get to decide what people should and shouldn't "go on about"? Nobody is bemoaning our season so far! They are talking about this game and making the perfectly reasonable statement that, if future performances are anything like today's, we will struggle, particularly as we have an extremely tough run of fixtures coming up.

So you actually expected it to carry on forever then!!!! And that we'd win the league?? Ha ha ha ha ha.

Agree with Ranieri in that it's rather frustrating that Dyer last week is a handball but Gestede this week isn't.

Looked handball he uses it to control it and keep it close to him, but they fully deserved the point from the game. So not really going to complain about that, we should have killed the game off in the first half

Was thinking about this earlier today. Don't we have to still go away to Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd?

We are top still which is amazing.

But we are going to have to step up to stay here. Saying that, Mahrez has lost us four points in recent weeks with utterly dreadful penalties.

I still think we need to invest and to freshen things up a bit.

The shining light today was Oza and I have no idea why he was taken off.

We won't win the league. But then I've never thought we would. Top four is very realistic though. Yeah, we have some tough away games. But the chasing pack aren't going to win all of their games. If United lose at Anfield tomorrow we've increase our gap to fifth, which is all that matters.

Look to our home games. There is perhaps one (Liverpool) you wouldn't have us as favourites to beat. We will win plenty more points this season. To achieve top four we need to not be overtaken by three sides (assuming Arsenal don't lose tomorrow). Of the teams below I can only see Arsenal, Man City, Spurs and Man United being capable of overhauling us, but I don't think all four will.

Villa were well on top at that stage any way.

True but Okazaki's energy up top would of been far more useful at that stage then Ulloa prancing around again like a donkey. Plus should of got Gray on alot earlier in the half. He looks a threat on the ball and he could of offered us another option attacking wise.

Hate to sound doom and gloom, but goals don't look there right now. This negative run of play has been going on for over a month, as if Pulis got his hands over this squad. And with that, there's probably more dropped points than stolen points. Something has to change or this team will slide down the table like Soton did.

He made it quite clear he was talking about that game not winning the league.

Worst performance than the Liverpool game. Villa are worst team in the league. We need to sign a Striker that takes penalties. 4 points dropped from the spot now we would be 5 points clear of arsenal. Seeing as it's clear Kramaric isn't wanted why can't we just go big and sign another striker.

De Laet came on for Okazaki, imo it should have been Mahrez. Ulloa came on to counter Gested's height which was probably a good idea.

Yes he did. Babylon is on one again.

also vardy is less fit than me at the moment, there is no point in playing him if he isn't going to do much running, whether that's running at defenders with the ball or running at defenders chasing the ball. okazaki did all his running today and when we took him off we completely lost the plot against, let's face it, one of the worst league teams in generations.

I was wondering when somebody was finally going to say this.

Vardy is important for us because of his pace, work rate and energy - always has been and always will be. The goals might come and go but his game at its core is about harassing defenders, running channels, racing past people etc.

He's doing barely any of that at the moment, he's a shell of the player he was before his injury.

Are you drunk? You're like a pigeon playing chess mate, it's impossible to have a normal exchange with you; no matter how good a move I make (in the form a reasonable argument), you'll just shit on the board and knock all the pieces over with your bobbing head and then walk off with your chest out like you've won. There's no way you could think that anything I said translated to "I thought it would carry on forever". You're doing what you always do on here which is behave like a total dolt and respond to points that literally nobody has made.

Perhaps you need to read the fecking thread again, unless you want to continue your total wummery of late.

and your qualifications to manage the team are.........?

Well actually I am working towards managerial qualifications (level 3 formally known as uefa B). Not that, that has anything to do with the post.

Our best game is when we press high, win the ball back and counter quickly. In the last 5 or 6 games we have played a different type of counter attacking, defend deep, draw teams out then hit them on the counter.

Both are feasible ways of countering but you only have to look at our goals scored tally and arguably the results since switching to the latter to see that it doesn't seem to be working as well for us as the press high approach was.

I feel Claudio is trying to 'save us' a little, as playing at high tempo obviously leads to fatigue over time, but I worry if we are going to adapt to this style permanently, it just doesn't seem to work for us as well.

Ha ha well done... Yeah I read that as well online, very original. Congrats on the copy and paste.

That's just Babs for you, he has the habit of 'putting words in your mouth' and jumping to conclusion to things you post. He's like a old smelly granny, you learn to put up with him

It's the post match thread, he was talking about the match. If you want to pretend we were great that's up to you but other want to discuss the actual match.

What's the point in having a forum then?

We discuss stuff here, none of us have any managerial qualifications or experience.
