I'm assuming CR is attempting to sign a striker that's going to come straight into the first team, as opposed to a prospect (e.g. Gray)?

 

If so, it will be interesting to see how much we spend. I'd say someone who's going to come into the first team will need 2 years' experience in one of Europe's top leagues.

 

Could be looking at an outlay of £10-15m (i.e. a club record).

Milik looks a real talent he's only 21 has scored at international level, he's over 6ft 2 and has a sweet left foot, Ajax are a selling club and I think he would be in the 10-15 million bracket. Him and Vardy up top with shinji off the bench!!!

We must have something big lined up, judging how we have operated for years now, and our current situation in the league.

Claudio is obviously confident of a new arrival as he would not be so confident to announce that we should be getting a new striker this January.

Having had a look, to me someone like Lacazette from Lyon would be my educated guess. Lyon are out for Europe, they are currently 9th in France, seems that they are not in great shape.

In a newspaper article Lacazette mentioned us specifically when discussing his ambitions to move to the premiership this summer.

I looked at his salary, and he according to Google is earning 18k per week at Lyon. Not alot for a player with his reputation.

I'm sure that he would be on our radar at present.

 

That would make a lot of sense as well actually. Definitely think we've reached a position where we could actually buy players from Lyon. That's serious progression really. He'd fit us as well.

Not claiming to be itk. Have heard, though, from what should be a good source that there is a massive signing close to completion. Apparently will get lots of media attention and get more people talking about our club. Hope this is true and hopefully a goalscorer. Not been given any clue on a name but my guess (it is only an educated guess) would be Adebayor.  Probably gonna get shot down in flames over the next day or two

But he's young and has already proven to be too good for that division.

 

Can hardly say that he's stealing a living at the highest level when he's been offered 6 appearances at that level.

 

Yeah, he just plays on the wing for a laugh. lol

 

Bamford is a striker. I'm absolutely sure of that.

It is only an educated guess on my part, given that Milik and Aboubacar aren't such big names and Remy is possibly unattainable atm.  Adebayor  is available and who knows, may just be able to do a job for us if fully focussed. I'd be delighted with any of the other three too.

On the evidence that we have this window landed Demarai Gray and Daniel Amartey, both players we have had long standing interest and links to, an argument could be put forward that Milik is the most logical signing. 

 

If we could now land Milik and Andre Carillo I'd be a happy, happy fox.

The only way people would be talking about the club would be along the lines of we've totally lost the plot. Since when we was a goal scorer in any case ?

so ranieri publicly states that we are in for a striker and 24 hours later, still no leaks. pretty amazing. either we haven't got anyone lined up at all (in which case he surely wouldn't have made the statement) or we may have found the only decent agent out there!

and as others have said, how far from match fitness would he be. I mean the kind of match fitness that playing our style demands. he might be ready for Chelsea away!

Don't think there will be any leaks for this one chaps. The club will obviously want to keep everything close to the chest, as about every other club want to sign a striker.
