I've said before that the next striker we get in should be better than what we have, that is the best way of strengthening our team. We don't need a player who isn't as good as Vardy but better and for the long term.

Gayle, crouch, Walters, Adebayor are at the lower end of their clubs pecking order and will add nothing to the first 11. We aren't at the bottom of the league anymore, we need to stop thinking like that. Buy cheap buy twice. I did think that Shane Long could be good but that would be coming off the bench and we need better than that.

The arguments don't work in this case that x player was at y club before, Mahrez, Drinky, Kante etc had potential and future worth not players that were good several seasons ago. We also can't always stand by the belief that Walsh will find us some unknown gem. We need to poach a high quality forward from a good team, like all the other top clubs do.

My Palace supporting mate thinks that Gayle is a mid championship forward at best. He is quick but that's it. If he can't make that team when they couldn't score and had injuries, it has to say something and it's not just their style of play.

Milik is a good shout, Remy would suit us and be a like for like with Vardy but I wouldn't want a loan. He needs to feel at home at a club and Chelsea do sell players to keep in ffp. Slimani and Aboubakar would be really good but Portuguese sides always have high buy out clause as they get rinsed of all talent, if the club feel happy to splash out then we should welcome it.

There is a very good reason nobody has purchased Rhodes.... if you watch him play he does feck all.

Apart from score goals consistently for the last 4 or so years.

We don't need workhorses, we already have two. We need a striker who won't waste chances when they come

One of the following and I'll be more than content

Aboubakar

Rhodes

Remy

McCormack

Gray

Dzeko

Papiss Cisse

Also as a side note, anyone know what Jay Rodriguez is up to? Was an unbelievable striker before that injury

I would be absolutely psyched with Dzeko

Highly doubtful

I just worry he's not quick enough for this level.

Here's something to think about.

Do people think that Ranieri is going to manoeuver Kramaric out of the club ( which is exactly what he did ) just to bring in a player of lesser ability. Would he really now go for some reserve team player from Palace, or an Ipswich striker with dubious ability.

What planet are some of you people on?

Here's something to think about... perhaps Kramaric wanted off months ago.

You do know it's not totally exclusive to be just one or the other?

He pisses Blackburn fans off and they are shit.

Personally I think we need a playmaker type, an extra body to provide for Vardy. And can get forward with speed and has an eye for goal.

We are too reliant on Mahrez and Albrighton creating chances.

I think Carrillo behind Vardy makes more sense then an out and out striker.

Jordan Rhodes is a better Chris Wood. A good finisher but nothing else. The fact he could go for eight figures is embarrassing.

If Vardy gets injured though, then we would be sorely missing and out and out striker, so I think that is more important, but wouldn't say no to both!

Blackburn fans are constantly pissed off, I'm not sure Rhodes deserves it.

Personally I reckon he's worth a gamble, out of my list he's easily the biggest risk for me though.

Yes! Claudio! Please get both :D

I agree. I think Okazaki's best position is the no.9 role, and he's looked a much better player recently, so I think we've got 2 good options in that spot. The no.10/attacking midfielder position is our weakest, I think. If we could get a new player in to make that role his own, then I believe that would make a big improvement to the team in just one transfer. Someone as good as Vardy, Mahrez and Kante, please. Preferably tall.

We must have something big lined up, judging how we have operated for years now, and our current situation in the league.

Claudio is obviously confident of a new arrival as he would not be so confident to announce that we should be getting a new striker this January.

Having had a look, to me someone like Lacazette from Lyon would be my educated guess. Lyon are out for Europe, they are currently 9th in France, seems that they are not in great shape.

In a newspaper article Lacazette mentioned us specifically when discussing his ambitions to move to the premiership this summer.

I looked at his salary, and he according to Google is earning 18k per week at Lyon. Not alot for a player with his reputation.

I'm sure that he would be on our radar at present.

We can dream mate

If we get anyone in from outside the PL I'd like us to get them in on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer, that way we're not stuck with them if they're gash

Posted

No reason why we can't get someone like Lacazette given QPR got Remy when they were bottom of the league and not 2nd!

I think it'll Carillo personally

I'd be happy with Carillo as he appears to be quality and will cost buttons.

The Spanish teams that are linked with him are notoriously frugal and I'm sure they'll only want him because he's a good player on a Bosman. We were prepared to pay big money for him in the summer so Carillo must know that at least he's truly wanted here and won't potentially spend a year as a squad player at somewhere like Atletico Madrid before they cash in on him by selling him to a PL club for £10m and bank a healthy profit.
