chapero82 Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I don't buy that our scouting team haven't got a number of options for a variety of scenarios. They're pro's. And lest we forget their strategy so far hasn't served us too badly...! What I do not understand is why have not found out if the player wants to come first e.g Eder and Aragnguiz, surely that should have been checked out first of all
whoareyaaa Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 What I do not understand is why have not found out if the player wants to come first e.g Eder and Aragnguiz, surely that should have been checked out first of all surely you would have to approach there person who pays their contract i.e the club before talking to a player?
Lesteban Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 We are going to get ripped off for him, probably 10-13 Million.. As posted earlier, they were reported to have rejected a £10m bid from abroad the other day. So it will be more than that, if the story was true.
st albans fox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 What I do not understand is why have not found out if the player wants to come first e.g Eder and Aragnguiz, surely that should have been checked out first of all eder may have been interested in coming until our interest flushed inter out. if we were serious about eder, we should have done the business early in jan and paid a price that gave sampdoria options to go out a replace him.

CloudFox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I still think this is another striker. Struggle to believe that we were in for Diouf all this time.

Crazy that we leave it until the last minute when we've had a whole month to get a deal sorted. It could cost us come May and we never be in the position to sign top players again... I hope this isn't the case though
Poiseuille Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Am I the only one who doesn't mind this? I've been impressed with him, big burly forward who also has pace and is an absolute nightmare for defenders. It's definitely something we don't have. Clearly has something if Man Utd signed him when they were a top club. Also, I trust Walsh et al.
st albans fox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I still think this is another striker. Struggle to believe that we were in for Diouf all this time. we weren't - we've been offered him because stoke can see we don't have many options 5 hours to see how 'tin pot' we really are. top of the league? if we need a striker then we should be buying a suitable player. if we don't need one then fine. this is potentially just embarrassing. Claudio could have just said he's happy with his options and 'if someone becomes available then we'll see'.

I'd like to clarify that this would have to be a loan... if we spent money on him we'd be mental.

lgfualol Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I get the feeling the leicester recruitment staff had a similar approach to this as I did when I was at school and had coursework. "Oh deadline is 2 weeks away, that is 14 days that is fine no need to stress yet." "Hm 7 days until deadline, better start but then again that is like 168 whole hours of my life to do it. Loads of time.". "SHIT IT CLOSES TOMORROW OH ****". "OH MY GOD 6 HOURS. MAME DIOUF IS GOOD ISNT HE? I CANT REMEMBER BUT STOKE WANT £20M SO HE MUST BE. AAAAAH".
SheppyFox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I know absolutely nothing about this man, if Walsh likes him though so do I..

And lest we forget their strategy so far hasn't served us too badly...! Even this one? I'm not getting at the scouting team in general, I just think this is a unique situation and one we understandably may not have been prepared for. Maybe the club needs to improvise this once instead of just going by the book.

Claudio could have just said he's happy with his options and 'if someone becomes available then we'll see'. That's kind of my point though: this is not how we do business. We have a solid scouting and player recruitment system in place that analyses players to the nth degree. I can't see us breaking that trend all of a sudden. As for Claudio saying 'if someone becomes available then we will see' - that's exactly what he said.
