Manchester city.. Away.. Thoughts!

I'm not sure Amartey is fit enough or demonstrating his price tag yet by the sound of Claudio's comments yesterday. Hasn't played since 6th December due to previous leagues winter break and CR is contemplating giving him a run out in the U21's....

Perhaps we'll see him at the Emirates?

Its understandable as the standard CR expects is ridiculously high it will take him a bit to get up to speed and a few games in the under 21's wont hurt, I think maybe on the bench against Arsenal just to get him involved and might see him against Norwich again from the bench for the last twenty mins or something.

Tricky because from our point of view the most important thing is not to lose, but as Scouse says if we set up not to lose then we almost certainly will.

Not conceding early would be big for us. The longer the game goes on goalless, the pressure builds on Man City much more than on us.

Genuinely excited for this game.

Same starting 11, sit back absorb the inevitable pressure and try to counter. If we can get Vardy in a one one position with any of their defenders we'll have some joy.

There's not one score line that would surprise me here. An away win is definitely on the cards, but get it wrong and they could put a few past us.

Roll on Saturday.

Two draws in the next 2 games would be a brilliant return for us. I'd rather have 2 draws than a win and a loss.

Not sure I'd agree. I'd rather bag the 3 points than the 2

I'd also thought about this, as it deprives two rivals of points.

That's the conundrum. 2 draws means that Ars and Manc lose 2 points too (at home) meaning the best they can do is gain 2 points on us over that 2 game period rather than one gaining 4 and the other 1, problem is that Spurs can gain 4 on us instead of 3.

The good news for us is how solid our defense has been over the last few weeks even though we've been giving up 60 to 70% possession.

If I was a neutral I would probably say this will be a draw.

But as I'm probably as far away from being neutral as you can get, I haven't got a clue what is going to happen. :)

This. We're starting to learn the art of defending solid as a unit, but also attacking like we usually do, rather than sitting back. The Stoke (h) game was a perfect example of this, as was Liverpool on Tuesday night. We've kept quite a few clean sheets now, it's fantastic.

Ranieri has quite a big tactical decision to make: do we go for it, or play more conservatively?

Man City are a great side, but we managed to contain them quite effectively at home by playing 4-5-1 and reinforcing the midfield. He might do the same again.

Also the Spurs away game is quite an interesting model - don't attack too much initially, try not to lose the game in the first half and then attack a bit at the end.

The flip side to that approach is that, with our confidence so high, we should play 4-4-2 and try to beat them on our own terms. That's certainly what I think most fans would like to see (who wouldn't?) - but it's also a bit of a gamble as well.

In either case, we should remember that Man City at home can be a very different proposition from when they play away. A draw would be a great result, no question.

Its definitely going be a defensive effort.

If Amartey was fit and had game time then I would of been tempted with a 4-3-3 to try and crowd out the midflield however that does limit Vardy up on his own. Stick with 4-4-2 and sit behind the ball until we can break and see from there.

Im a relatively pessimistic person and so I can't see passed a defeat but I said the exact same thing at spurs so you just never know about this crazy season

I think we will go for it first 10 minutes, put them under pressure see if they crack, then drop Shinji back play deeper and hit on the counter, we can always switch and go all out attack towards the end if we need to.

I think we've shown we can be defensive and compact with a 442 but it allows us to be dangerous when we win the ball back.

We won't be gung ho, we'll sit, contain and hope to burst into life when the opportunity arises.
