Manchester city.. Away.. Thoughts!

We did beat them away, therefore i'd say why couldn't you. however , I don't think they gave us the respect we deserved at the time and hence the win (and a lot of luck, let's be honest).

In your case, I do believe they'll give you the respect you deserve. I believe that San Pellegrini will emphasize on this and i reckon Citeh will press for an early goal rather than being all complacent about it.

But i really don't think they will be confident. I strongly believe that they will fear a team they know can pull off a late screamer, which I personally hope happens (for the craze's sake).

1-0 Vardy late screamer

I do think playing at full pace and our clever football could undo Man City. However they are a quality side and any sort of a positive result will be incredible.

It's Stat time again

Manchester City have won 16 of the last 19 Barclays Premier League games at the Etihad (W16 D1 L2).

Leicester City have failed to score in the last three Premier League games against Manchester City.

Only one team (Everton on 13th January 2016) have stopped Manchester City from scoring in the last 27 competitive matches at the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester City have lost just one of their last 15 Premier League away games (W9 D5 L1).

Sergio Aguero has scored 12 goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances for Manchester City.

On the day of this game, Leicester City will have spent 47 days on top of the Premier League in 2015-16; only opponents Manchester City have spent longer in first place this season (100 days).

Manchester City have won the most points at home this season in the Premier League (28), while Leicester City have won the most away from home (25).

Without Jamie Vardy's 18 goals in the Premier League this season, Leicester City would be 18 points worse off.

Vardy has scored the opening goal of a Premier League game on eight occasions this season; more often than any other player.

Manchester City have made a joint-league high 62 changes to their starting XI in their 24 Premier League games combined this season, while Leicester City have made the fewest (21).

If Everton can keep a clean sheet then so can we lol

I've followed you guys since Prekigate had me in creases.

Your team is the best side in the league now, and I think you'll turn up at City and win. Beating Spurs at White Hart Lane was a unbelievable result as they were bang in form and closing right in to the top bunch - that, for me, was the win that will be looked back on as THE win that pushed you to the title. I think Spurs will go on to grab 2nd, so beating them was insane.

Ranieri's record, if you look at the state of the team he's inherited etc, it's far from surprising that you guys are flying. He got a helluva lot more out of Falcao than LVG / Mourinho, had the balls to instill Terry as Captain at Chelsea, brought Lampard in - and he leaves clubs in a better state than when he arrived. I'm pretty sure he was bringing a young Robert Huth through at Chelsea, too.

Plus when Kante is at Madrid, Drinkwater & Vardy are England regulars and Mahrez is playing god knows where, and well - I think we'll look back on your current group of players and not be at all surprised when you go on and win it. It's not about top 4 (that's a nonsense) - you'll win it. This side is better than the Liverpool team that bottled it, despite them having the best striker in the world up top.

Be gutted if we go for 451. One thing I've learned about Leicester city over the last few years that we have to go for it and attack, or we're shit. Might as well go there and have a pop, absolutely no pressure on us

Man city play there best they will win. Great amount of talent. They are a superb team to be fair. Some of the players are immense.

If we play well,who knows?

In the end I think they will be a little too good. But we are top for a reason.

Head says loss heart says 1-2

I'll be up at the arsecrack of dawn for this one with a stout and some black coffee for fuel.

Gladly take a draw, hopeful for the win. Aguero has looked world class lately but I have a sneaking feeling that Mahrez gets up for this one and brings something to the party.

Kinda warming to this approach.

I see the game as a free hit in some respects.

After these two tough away games we have a run of 9 games, 6 of which are at home all of which are quite favourable.

The worst than can happen is that we lose both and we are 3 points behind city and 1 behind Arsenal.

I don't think we will lose both. We may well lose one but not both. We've only been beaten a handful of time since April 2015. This team is flying.

Ranieri has quite a big tactical decision to make: do we go for it, or play more conservatively?

Man City are a great side, but we managed to contain them quite effectively at home by playing 4-5-1 and reinforcing the midfield. He might do the same again.

Also the Spurs away game is quite an interesting model - don't attack too much initially, try not to lose the game in the first half and then attack a bit at the end.

The flip side to that approach is that, with our confidence so high, we should play 4-4-2 and try to beat them on our own terms. That's certainly what I think most fans would like to see (who wouldn't?) - but it's also a bit of a gamble as well.

In either case, we should remember that Man City at home can be a very different proposition from when they play away. A draw would be a great result, no question.

Apart from our tired time over Christmas when we hardly scored at all and gave four points away for nothing we've climbed to where we are by being positive.

One of our better Christmas period performances was the League victory at Spurs and I see no reason why we can't repeat that kind of approach and effort.

Tactically we need our banks of four to close the spaces and limit the supply of ball to Aguero. We also need to break with speed, accuracy and confidence.

Why go out with the negative attitude of settling for a draw? Are their people who still believe we're not good enough to be where we are or that there's not sound reasons for what we've achieved?

We saw the folly of conceding more ground that usual against a crap team like Villa. Do that against Man City and they'll say "thanks very much".

There are risks to every strategy but why change the one that's worked so well for so long? Our players aren't tired now...quite the contrary.

We're at full strength and with a stronger squad than we started the season. Let's attack the title not go all negative and hope we can simply negate the threat of others. Let's win it instead of inviting othrs to take it off us.

Because if we keep winning there's sod-all that anyone else can do to catch us.

The greatest pressure is on the challengers not the challenged because we've got the points and already, Arsenal have showed signs of wobbling in trying to keep up.

Even if Manchester City took the lead today what will be their next move? Will they try to hold on out of respect for our known ability to hit back or will they continue to push forward? It won't be an easy decision and the longer the game goes without Manchester gaining an advantage the more nerve-wracking it will get for their team and their fans.

Today's important as an opportunity to us but not crucial to our potential aims. But, by being positive we could sure make it crucial for the home side given that both Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs still have some games against each other to play.

How hard will it be for them if we win and those top teams know they'll take more points off each other?

Stay sensibly positive and go for the win would be my approach.

Attack and go for the win. I rememer the 5-2 loss to Arsenal where we went at them and I didn't feel too disappointed because of that, whereas the Liverpool 1-0 loss or Villa 1-1, I was very disappointed because of how played and the negativity in our play. We aren't going to win this league by changing what we do best. Play 4-4-2, same team and attack.

Key point for me, Man City's TWO main centre backs are still both out injured, the two that are standing in are near Aston Villa level of hopeless. We have to go there and attack, simple as that.

They'll miss Bony, De Bruyne and Nasri too.

Keep Aguero quiet and we'll get a result. Tough job although we've done it once this season.

*Surely condemns us to a 93rd minute Yaya Toure screamer after battering them all game to lose 1-0*

Imagine if we had beat Villa :(

...and Bournemouth and spurs and stoke and arsenal and Southampton and man united and Liverpool and man city and Bournemouth...

lol makes me laugh that they're the only sides we've dropped points to after 24 games.

Don't think like that. You could say that about any scenario that happened this season. Imagine if Hart didn't save Defoes shot. Imagine if Forster didn't play a blinder against Arsenal.

No use dwelling on what's happened. If we finish 2nd a point behind 1st then we cant blame Mahrez for his missed penalties. There are many ways where points are won and lost you cant pinpoint it to one single event. Just get behind the team and whatever happens its been a blast.

Their weakest link is their defence.

We have to be solid at the back but still be brave enough to try and win with the increased chances of losing the match by being brave.

Same team as against Liverpool for me.

Posted

Beat them and the media will start suggesting en masse we can win it.

Draw and we are still clear at the top.

Lose and we are still level on points.

It's a free pass.

The way we play, counterattack style, means we never have to play for a draw. We always defend in numbers, and rarely have to commit a large number of men forward in order to score goals. I think that's our key to conceding as little as we do. Play our game, and play to win.

For me its gotta draw written all over it.

Neither team wants to lose, we will probably set up to defend more like we have against other teams so it'll be similar to the yanited game we drew because we didn't show enough going forward but stopped them from creating much too.
