What a good referee looks like

was a proper crap performance by the ref yesterday. Norwich had him under their thumb - time wasted the entire game, numerous cynical fouls went unpunished, the fact Tetley and Howson (?) didn't get booked is incredible!

The problem is inconsistencies. Mahrez is fouled on the edge of the box, in a shooting motion and their player wasn't booked. Simpson pulls Giroud's shirt 40 yards from goal, yet is sent off.

Mahrez: best possible circumstance - shot on target (in a seconds time)

Giroud: best possible circumstance - a cross into the box (he's running away from goal) - in what, 5 seconds time?

A good referee is one you don't really notice because they don't impact the game with poor decisions. It has to be a big well done to yesterdays ref Neil Swarbrick. He was positively anonymous during the entire game. Much better than the one 2 weeks ago.

Good refs deserve good praise, bad refs should just be shot.

I thought he was poor.

He let them get away with some very cynical fouls first half, which merited a yellow card, which meant they were able to carry on with their cynical fouling for much longer than they should have been.

Also let Norwich time waste even as early as the first half!

scariest ref about, you would not mess with this fvcker.

nowadays you get absolute tits like Craig Pawson or Jon Moss or Gavin Ward who wouldn't be fit enough to clean Collina's whistle let alone do the same job as him

He tried to man manage. Which is a great skill as a ref, so long as you do it correctly. Unfortunately he overdid this and gave players a long talking to when they should have merited a yellow card. The mahrez incident outside the box infuriated me, and so did the off the ball challenges on albrighton in the opening stages. Should have been cut out straight away.

He wasn't the worst we've had he wasn't great either.

Their time wasting was criminal, to only add one minute in the first half!

There is no such thing as a good referee.

Seen worse... much worse!

He couldve done a little more, but in the main, i thought mostly inoffensive.

Loved where he told Kasper not to time waste after we scored and Kasper pointed to the other end as if to say you never said anything to them for time wasting.

Clattenburg was very good today.

Thought he was garbage.

You don't know what your doing was ringing round.

Persistent fouling and stopping breakaways and no yellows.

Before Mahrez handballed the WBA looked like he caught it?!

Can only think of one mistake which was for a foul in the middle of the park which wasn't. The rest were mistakes by the linesman in the kop end.

Let the game tick over and flow well. Also kept hurrying up the west brom players to avoid time wasting.

Not saying you're wrong however, just thought he was one of the better ones we've had this season, but that's just my opinion.

it wasn't always massive decisions, just ALL of the smaller ones that break up play went there way, like aerial challenges, lack of bookings, handballs. The linesman second half was awful. Knew it from kick off when he said the first pass to Mahrez was out of play.

Can't give specific examples but there were a couple of times we got penalised for shoving players off the ball yet our players were getting thrown around (often in dangerous areas of the pitch may I add) and it would get ignored.  There was also the way the definition of a handball seemed to change depending on the team it was being given against.

Just to clarify I don't believe it changed the game at all because we made more than enough chances to kill it off regardless of how many arbitration errors were made but I definitely wouldn't say Clattenburg had a good match.

I quite enjoyed in the second half Clattenberg got frustrated at himself for not playing an advantage after a foul. Refreshing to see
