What a good referee looks like

Recommended Posts

A good referee is one you don't really notice because they don't impact the game with poor decisions. It has to be a big well done to yesterdays ref Neil Swarbrick. He was positively anonymous during the entire game. Much better than the one 2 weeks ago.

Good refs deserve good praise, bad refs should just be shot.

There were some very cynical fouls on our players whenever we looked to counter, particularly on Mahrez. They seemed to continuously go unpunished and I though it affected Riyad's game abit (though I'm sure he'll learn to deal with that).

You're joking, right?

He was abysmal. At the end of the first half Mahrez was on one of his mazy runs and had Norwich on the back foot, he got scythed down as he was approaching the box. It was the most obvious booking you'll ever see and he kept his cards in his pocket.

There were several other similar incidents where he did the same thing, one time the bloke was already on a yellow.

Just as baffling was his decision to add just a minute of stoppage time at the end of a first half where Norwich were taking 30 seconds to take every corner, free kick and goal kick.

He did not enforce the rules and did not do his job.

Not because he's awarded us the most penalties since our return to the Prem, but for me Clattenburg is the best referee we've got in this country.

The games I've watched him ref are generally quite enjoyable because he tends not to spotlight whistle like some of his below- par counterparts.

Not like him, Tettey put ina couple of very poor challenges in the first 15 mins and got nothing, that set the tone, you don't have to go around dishing out yellow cards but he allowed fouls to go unpunished and that changes a game, they could/should have been another 3 or 4 yellow cards given out, players on a yellow card are less likely to commit cynical fouls.

You'll be happy Tuesday night then as he is the referee in our game

Worst refereeing performance of the season.

I don't particularly mind refs getting big decisions wrong, it's an inability to manage the game properly that really riles me.

I expect TP will remind Clattenberg before the game that the ref in the reverse fixture missed two stonewall WBA pens.

I would expect that Clattenberg will be desperate not to give one after the sterling incident via spurs

So easy for fans...innit !!!

Grown mature men taking swipes, acting worse than the nagging females, they make jokes about,

at a job you wouldnt do yourselves, and if you did most likely be worse than most.

FANS forget, on Tv or from the terraces, you see the events from another perspective, oh it doesnt mean your

wrong, but how often do we see with proof the fans actually also get it just as wrong.

The great sporting fans, screaming and shouting for red or yellow cards, often unwarranted.

At the match understandable, days, weeks or even years after .

Football turns the normal sensible, salt of the earth guys, into blubbering incompetent neanderthals...

Oh yes..me as well.... :)

The worst decision was by the lino in the last minute. When Mahrez booted it off there defender and won the most blatant corner ever and he signaled for a goal kick. Madness .
