I'm sorry but Benitez sucks as a manager, no disrespect to his earlier accomplishments back at Valencia, the rest of his career is highly over rated.

I say 2-0 win for leicester !

It would have been the club that insisted on the clause.

It is one thing paying 4 million a year to a premiership manager and quite another if we went down.

Last time we were relegated they cut costs all over the shop.

If he keeps us up he has a 3 year contract as manager that he has already signed.

Haha dream on, Benitez insisted.

He won't manage in the Championship. If you go down he'll be on a flight home before the ref blows the final whistle.

The way i see this game is, that Newcastle do have quality in their team. If they turn up and want to play, this will be a hard game.

The departure of McLaren could have a galvanising effect, as it looks like the players didnt want to play for him.

But I think we will approach this game positively, and professionally knowing how important it is.

I don't think Benitez can get them sorted by Monday, though maybe by the time they face Spurs and Man City at home.

He could do us a favour by winning those. They would have been better appointing Pearson though. The best manager for a relegation scrap or Promotion push.

Their attitude is appalling.  It truly is.  You wouldn't believe the Bournemouth game.  I don't think Sissoko even broke a sweat.  That has been a common theme all season.

The odd game though they do play and boy can they play.  Problem is it is a very very very rare occurrence.

Just tell them they should save their "good game" for matchday 38 and the encounter with Tottenham.

I don't mind the rest of the season.

Interesting game in prospect this Monday night. Newcastle have some talented players, and when they perform/play well they are a decent team in fairness. And, with their new manager arrival in Benitez perhaps their players will be looking to raise their performance levels against us.

Their a well followed team home and away, they've got a loyal fan base.

Having said this, I'm hopeful we can still get a positive result. Our home form is fantastic (as is our away form) and if we start well on the front foot we will probably win. Difficult scoreline to predict though.

King is out injured according to the Sunday Times - not seen that mentioned anywhere.

Their squad smacks of our squad that were relegated to League 1.

Compared to other teams, we had far too much talent on paper to go down, but we did because as a team we were 2nd best every week.

I'd expect to beat these regardless of their manager.

I keep seeing that mclaren had lost the dressing room and Benitez will sort them out...doesn't every manager they have lose the dressing room? Just a thought...could it be the players?

3-0 Leicester.

Who would you take out of their squad to put into ours?

I would take a punt at Sissoko; he's often on/off in terms of performance, but would be decent to add on as a sub.

I don't think anyone can sort that group of players out, but that's the point. They have more ability than they tend to be willing to show, and on Monday they're likely to show it - unless we steal an early initiative and build on it, or lull them into a false sense of security and capitalise. There will be a reaction from them early on in his reign and then it will subside, but we're the ones with the toughest test of them all. How good a job Benitez does is irrelevant, it's the way they perceive him, and the belief he as an appointment will give them - this is the potential problem.

Hopefully, and quite possibly, it will result in them being more positive and us taking advantage of it by beating them. And hopefully it will result in them taking something out of Spurs when they play.

I must admit I was slightly buoyed when I saw Hamann singing his praises. The man who discounted Ranieri, screwed up at Stockport, and whose arrival at City coincided with our complete collapse. It felt like a good luck omen! But this will be a tough one. If we get 7 points out of the next 3 games, which we probably need, then a point out of Newcastle may turn out to be a good one because the script seems to say that this is where Newcastle bounce back. Hopefully we do what we've done all season, continue to rewrite the script, and beat them. Needless to say, we can.

OK - Newcastle are having an awful season and they're a bit of a shambles behind the scenes, but I don't really get why everyone's talking about a thrashing by us is 'absolutely going to happen'.

Hopefully Ranieri and the players aren't as complacent as the forum

Where did you get the 'absolutely going to happen' quote from? Many are confident of beating this Newcastle side for many reasons. Just look at the league table, just look at their away form and our home form. Look at recent meetings between the two sides. There's no reason we as fans, or the players, shouldn't be confident of winning and winning well against them.

Just because people predict a win by 2/3/4 goals it doesn't mean we're arrogant or complacent, it's a prediction. Not every game is a tight 1-0/2-1 match.

We are the best team in the league and they are the second worst. How can you not be confident?

Almost eveyone in this thread is predicting a simple, routine win for us.

I'm confident of a good performance and win, given our position. It's just that Newcastle are an unknown quantity at the moment. They've actually got a decent team, and we won't know if it's been McClaren dragging them down, or if they actually are just sh*te this year.

We don't know if they'll get a bounce from Benetiz or not. Benetiz has managed his fair share of canny 'doing a job on teams' in the past. Why not tomorrow night?

They have 3 or 4 very good players who will now need a lot of attention. Their midfield does have ability in fairness.

Hopefully our work rate and system will eventually prove too much for them but it's a tougher task now than it was a week ago.

Beintez himself said he had to compromise about the future but that it doesn't matter and is no big deal because he will keep us up.

Aye but the mackems can't read.

They missed all the things I said about Shelvey, Gini and Sissoko never having have turned it all on at the same time.  In fact a lot of the time all 3 have been absent which is why we are where we are.

They criticise what I said about the back 4 and yet any toon fan would tell you the same thing.  Like I say though, the back 4 i listed has never once played together as a unit under Mcclaren.

Then they accuse me of banging on about the entertainers which of course I didn't do.

Unwashed scum
