Sorry but suggesting some conspiracy theory is bonkers, surely it's always a difficult call when it comes to replacing a Manager especially one which has spent so much in January. It would be a really difficult call to stick or twist, you have to get the right person in and that will not be easy for them with a real possibility of Championship football next season.

It probably looks like that, but I really didn't mean it to come across as a conspiracy. Of course they are thinking of the best interests of the club, but the timing of the thing and the way they are airing their dirty laundry makes me wonder, when they could easily wait for one more game, sack him quietly and bring in Benitez, with a long term plan, as nobody will be baying for his blood should they go down.

Twist the knife boys. Same tactics as ever. The Magpies are suspect as hell at the back and do tend to get forward, which is their downfall.

I will honestly be surprised to see them pack the defence, not least in a game that may be McClaren's last if this keeps rumbling on. Hoping he decides "sod it" and throws everything at us, and have us win 5-4.

You're reading far too much into the actions of simpletons.

Besides, are you saying that if it were another club from outside of the top 4 challenging for the title and we were in a precarious relegation scrap then you would want us to throw our game and let them get 3 points closer to the title?  Come off it.

No, not throw the game just so it makes it easier for the team in pole position. Not at all!

If a team go into a match desperately needing the 3 points and win fair and square, then they deserve that. But there should be a line drawn as to when things become unsporting is all I meant.

Perhaps it comes across as arrogant because I feel a little more goodwill could be displayed towards Leicester, but that's only because aside from the dream of us winning the top tier, I truly believe it will be for the good of so many other clubs and for the good of football in general should we do it.

I can't help feeling that aside from the obvious "businessmen" in footbalI who are killing the essence of the game, that many fans of big clubs are adding to it as well. For instance, I suspect the fans of clubs like Newcastle (and I lived there for 3 years back in the late 90's so I know, first hand what a collossal club they were/are) deep down don't want us to win because it will expose just how shameful they have been in achieving absolutely nothing, despite their huge financial resources and promotional muscle.

Really couldn't care less who they bring in....they still have 11 players on the pitch that as a team play like crap. We will beat them and will move on to Palace next week. Have a couple of beers and relax

This appointment just goes to show the people making decisions at the club know very little about football. What experience has Rafa got of a relegation battle or managing a team in the second tier. Pearson would've been perfect

Those taking this as a given, just hold on a second.

Sky have reported Mclaren is going to be sacked. Not sure how they could know he's going to get sacked a day before.

I seem to remember them reporting that NP had definitely been sacked and we all know that was a crock of shite so...

I to have a brazen theory, bare with me this is hard to follow.

Just suppose this was the most important season ever in the history of the premier league to not fall out of it.

Then add in the fact that i do believe Newcastle were actually the 2nd biggest net transfer spenders this season.

Add to that they have appointed a shit manager that was bombed out of a championship club

Mix in a poor run or form added to their closest rivals upturn since appointing big Sam.

"Piff Paff Dale Winton!!"

I wouldn't say any game is a given but regardless of who they bring in even if it's Pearson......we are at home, are the better team and they are at sixes and sevens on the pitch. This IMO favours us to win......Also playing on Monday we have the incentive of increasing our lead to 8 pts or having to match any wins by the 3 or 4 teams directly below us. It's huge knowing already what your rivals have done

It's a sport.  At no point do I want any of our competitors to do anything to make it easier for us.  Them airing their dirty laundry has nothing to do with our club or our preparations for the game - they'll still have the same group of players come matchday so we just need to keep focusing on how to deal with them which I'm sure Claudio's on top of.

Rafa taking over Newcastle in such short time, if that happens, will probably impact the game very little. I like Benitez. I think he's very talented. Ancelotti has a very high opinion of his ability to change tactics in the middle of a game and force a positive outcome. Yet, he just doesn't have the time to get to know all the players strengths. I still believe any bottom team will be difficult no matter what. Still think though, it will be a win for Leicester.

Can't wait for this game now. The forum's gone a bit weird waiting for it, random shinji drama, pages about how to best annoy forest fans, despite the fact we're lightyears away from them at the moment.

Yeah in fairness Benitez is a good organiser but there's only so much you can do with that car crash defence.

Can see this being a tough game. Newcastle are getting slated by their home fans when playing at st james park so they'll probably be glad of an away trip. Still think we can do it though. 2-1 to the foxes.

Everyone,

I should add that perhaps the timing of this NUFC fan letter to the board may have inspired the board to want to play mindgames with us a bit, at McClaren's expense. Perhaps I'm wrong but you only have to read the comments of that "NUFC fan" on here to see the spitefulness. I'm pretty sure he is a microcosm of the whole thing. I understand rival mentalities, but that's usually between the traditionally big clubs. I really thought, given the magnitude of what we are doing, in comparison to our size and the fact we escaped relegation last season, supporters of the clubs who are way out of the running would be more magnanimous towards us.

Can you stop mentioning the size of club Leicester are we ain't ****in Shrewsbury, wev'e got a decent fanbase with billionaire owner the 10th biggest city in England and sitting 5 points clear at the top iof the league, to me LCFC are the ****in biggest.club in the World.

Newcastle squad have scheduled day off tomorrow. There is no way they can get Rafa in and for him to do any real work with the players before Monday's game.

I think Steve will probably get given the official sack tomorrow and Rafa negotiations will get finalised over the weekend, maybe announced Monday and most likely the backroom staff will take charge of the game, with Rafa in the stands. There is a still the chance the players will up their efforts to impress the new man, but this is still a very poor side and with the mess of this week, not exactly good preparation at all. If we are on our game, we should still win this comfortably

I think Benitez will be in tuesday but has already agreed, hes not going to want his first game in charge against the league leaders and possibly look a cvnt for his first game. Mclarens last game in charge, so lets make it a good un.

Cheer up steve mclaren

Oh what can it mean

Looking at their away form that doesn't appear to be the case. They're all over the shop on the road.

Stop worrying, we are playing Newcastle United, not Barcelona, they could have Donald Trump in charge, doesn't matter, we are still going to win.

Can see your point and would be wise decision from Rafa. He will look an even bigger cvnt if he loses first game against Sunderland though after a week's preparation. DOn't think Steve will take the team out Monday either if Rafa stories are true. He will be gone tomorrow or the weekend with backroom staff taking game on Monday
