Sunderland AFC v Leicester City FC post match thread 0 - 2

Was weird today. First half we were perhaps not poor but weren't great. But for all the guff about nerves, there are no nerves at the back. When we attacked today we looked nervous in the first half. The job that's been done with and by the back 5 since Xmas is nothing short of astonishing.

Second half we were just excellent. Rodwell chance aside Sunderland had nothing and we picked them off. You might ask how we were so cool in the second half having been scrappy and nervy first half. Unbelievable commitment to the game plan, great fitness, great focus and the ability to finish a classic Leicester move for both goals. We've been pulling the same tricks on teams all season and its fvcking delicious.

After 60 mins of the game Sunderland thought they were on top in the game enough to leave fewer players back during an attack and that is when we switch to our destructive best. One quality ball over the top, at least half a second quicker than anyone else plays it, and you have Kaboul 1 on 1 against Vardy for pace.

We easily could and should have conceded today but didn't. Sensational result in a season full of them.

Did you shut off before Vardy scored his second then?

Was that not our 6th clean sheet today winning the other 5 by i nil. I might be wrong I'll have to check later. Doesn't matter anyway once we won.

If Spurs lose this pm this is just about in the bag

We'll have to agree to disagree. Mahrez was no where to be seen, we couldn't pass to one another, Shinji tried but also done nothing. If that had of been any of the good sides like Arsenal or Spurs the game would have been over by half time.

Thankfully we were much better second half and I thought we were crying out for the inclusion of King for all he offers. Better passing, help out in defence and always liable to score.

I would have taken Mahrez off for Gray and Shinji for King. thankfully Vardy came good as I predicted he'd get two today.

Mahrez looked like his head was in the Nou Camp. If he keeps playing like that he won't be in the Nou Camp

We defended very strongly, and had enough sting in the tail to score 2 goals, it wasn't the prettiest of games, but we took 3 points off a sunderland team who at this stage of the season always grind out results against anyone, so for me this was a massive result. Well done boys, AND come on Man United! (never thought I'd say that)

The best thing to be said about the first half was that we did compete. A lot of the time we still came second, but most of the lads stuck in there, - or got stuck in - with Huth and Fuchs leading by appropriate example. As the second half wore on, the ref could have stopped the contest.

Agreed that could well be it. But I think when the sun shines again he'll be back to his best. I think he's one of those players who doesn't handle the cold weather well.

It was pretty sunny, and he played pretty well over the winter...so not sure what on earth you're talking about.

The players had to take drinks in the first half, it was that hot.

It's Arsenal's game in hand stopping us from winning it next week I think. No matter; I've said all along 76 points will be enough and I stand by that. We'll beat both Swansea and Everton at home at least. I think we've done it now.

Good point. My bad earlier.

Is Mahrez solar powered?

Oh i agree that Mahrez wasn't on it, but he was targeted. You can't expect a manager of Big Sam's experience not to double up on mahrez (which he did). Otherwise i thought we were pretty solid. Okazaki landed on his arse as usual (which infuriates me), but i don't see how it was a "terrible performance".

Quite right, But his body language from the off suggested to me that he wasn't up for it. Now as Col said maybe his head was in the Noeu camp.

As for the performance first half we were having to work too hard to stay in the game. A better team would have punished us. Second half much better.

Souness looks like someone's whacked a trout across his face! Hahaha f u Souness

Super annoyed with Souness.

The pundits get paid for this!

He's was trying not to eat his words at the end.

Difficult to know what is wrong with Mahrez. Last week it was the internationals, but he should have been rested by now. He probably needs to start on the bench against West Ham to remind him that he is not indispensable.  Gray was a superb replacement today, and we have Schlupp as well, and we can't have Mahrez being dozy - as he was a couple of times today - or greedy against a side as good as West Ham.

On the other hand, I thought we were good today, although to be fair, Sunderland gifted us the second goal, as well as not taking their own chances. WTF was Rodwell doing, and how did Boroni fvck up the chances he had? I actually felt sorry for Allardyce - several times he looked like he had given up on his team, which is never good.

Sad, because I genuinely have a soft spot for Sunderland, but I think they could lose next week at Narge, and that will be the end of them for a season.

Souness looks so miserable and angry at the same time it's actually funny. He is absolutely fuming that we won. Friggin dinosaur.

Hope Utd can pull off a miracle 2nd half.

Don't give a toss how anyone played, points are on the board.

And me and my son have great memories after the game, once they finally got us out the ground, the celebrations continued outside, think police were frustrated, but to their credit, let everyone enjoy themselves.

Cold weather? Its April.. and he was great over the winter!

I think its more likely his head was slightly elsewhere today mate.

Souness is a miserable sod "Leicester lumping the ball up to a 29 year old striker, I thought football was like that in the past" and "Leicester are such a small team!"

This should probably go on the thread about "do they mean us" but in today's Sunday Times he has his team of the season. Can't arsed to reproduce it, but he has two Man U players, one Chelski, one Everton, one West Ham and five Spurs players. Oh, and Jamie V. No Mahrez, Morgan, Kanté. Schmeichel.

Then I remembered that this is the fvckwit who signed George Weah's brother when he managed Southampton.

Says it all.
